1 E ntonces su hijo Josafat reinó en su lugar, y afirmó su dominio sobre Israel.

And Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead, and he strengtheneth himself against Israel,

2 P uso tropas en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá, y puso guarniciones en la tierra de Judá y en las ciudades de Efraín que su padre Asa había tomado.

and putteth a force in all the fenced cities of Judah, and putteth garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.

3 Y el Señor estuvo con Josafat porque anduvo en los primeros caminos de su padre David y no buscó a los baales,

And Jehovah is with Jehoshaphat, for he hath walked in the first ways of David his father, and hath not sought to Baalim,

4 s ino que buscó al Dios de su padre, anduvo en sus mandamientos y no hizo como Israel.

for to the God of his father he hath sought, and in His commands he hath walked, and not according to the work of Israel.

5 E l Señor, pues, afirmó el reino bajo su mano; y todo Judá trajo tributo a Josafat, y tuvo grandes riquezas y honores.

And Jehovah doth establish the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah give a present to Jehoshaphat, and he hath riches and honour in abundance,

6 Y su corazón se entusiasmó en los caminos del Señor, y además quitó de Judá los lugares altos y las Aseras.

and his heart is high in the ways of Jehovah, and again he hath turned aside the high places and the shrines out of Judah.

7 E n el año tercero de su reinado envió a sus oficiales Ben-hail, Abdías, Zacarías, Natanael y Micaías, para que enseñaran en las ciudades de Judá;

And in the third year of his reign he hath sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah,

8 y con ellos a los levitas Semaías, Netanías, Zebadías, Asael, Semiramot, Jonatán, Adonías, Tobías y Tobadonías, levitas todos; y con éstos a los sacerdotes Elisama y Joram.

and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9 E llos enseñaron en Judá, teniendo consigo el libro de la ley del Señor; y recorrieron todas las ciudades de Judá y enseñaron al pueblo.

And they teach in Judah, and with them the Book of the Law of Jehovah, and they go round about into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.

10 Y el terror del Señor vino sobre todos los reinos de las tierras que estaban alrededor de Judá, y no hicieron guerra contra Josafat.

And here is a fear of Jehovah on all kingdoms of the lands that round about Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;

11 Y algunos de los filisteos trajeron presentes y plata como tributo a Josafat; también los árabes le trajeron rebaños: siete mil setecientos carneros y siete mil setecientos machos cabríos.

and of the Philistines they are bringing in to Jehoshaphat a present, and tribute silver; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock, rams seven thousand an seven hundred, and he-goats seven thousand and seven hundred.

12 J osafat se engrandecía más y más, y edificó fortalezas y ciudades de almacenaje en Judá.

And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he buildeth in Judah palaces and cities of store,

13 Y tenía muchas provisiones en las ciudades de Judá, y hombres de guerra, valientes guerreros, en Jerusalén.

and he hath much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty of valour, in Jerusalem.

14 E ste era su número según sus casas paternas: de Judá, de los comandantes de millares, Adnas era el comandante, y con él trescientos mil valientes guerreros;

And these their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, heads of thousands, Adnah the head, and with him mighty ones of valour, three hundred chiefs.

15 d espués de él estaba el comandante Johanán, y con él doscientos ochenta mil;

And at his hand Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty chiefs.

16 y tras éste, Amasías, hijo de Zicri, que se ofreció voluntariamente al Señor, y con él doscientos mil valientes guerreros;

And at his hand Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to Jehovah, and with him two hundred chiefs, mighty of valour.

17 y de Benjamín, Eliada, un valiente guerrero, y con él doscientos mil armados de arco y escudo;

And of Benjamin: mighty of valour, Eliada, and with him, armed with bow and shield, two hundred chiefs.

18 y después de éste, Jozabad, y con él ciento ochenta mil armados para la guerra.

And at his hand Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty chiefs, armed ones of the host.

19 E stos son los que sirvieron al rey, sin contar los que el rey puso en las ciudades fortificadas por todo Judá.

These those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the cities of fortress, in all Judah.
