1 S ucedió que cuando el rey ya moraba en su casa, y el Señor le había dado descanso de sus enemigos por todos lados,

And it cometh to pass, when the king sat in his house, and Jehovah hath given rest to him round about, from all his enemies,

2 e l rey dijo al profeta Natán: Mira, yo habito en una casa de cedro, pero el arca de Dios mora en medio de cortinas.

that the king saith unto Nathan the prophet, `See, I pray thee, I am dwelling in a house of cedars, and the ark of God is dwelling in the midst of the curtain.'

3 E ntonces Natán dijo al rey: Ve, haz todo lo que está en tu corazón, porque el Señor está contigo.

And Nathan saith unto the king, `All that in thine heart -- go, do, for Jehovah with thee.'

4 Y sucedió que esa misma noche la palabra del Señor vino a Natán, diciendo:

And it cometh to pass in that night, that the word of Jehovah is unto Nathan, saying,

5 V e y di a mi siervo David: “Así dice el Señor: ‘¿Eres tú el que me va a edificar una casa para morar en ella ?

`Go, and thou hast said unto My servant, unto David, Thus said Jehovah, Dost thou build for Me a house for My dwelling in?

6 ‘ Pues no he morado en una casa desde el día en que saqué de Egipto a los hijos de Israel hasta hoy, sino que he andado errante en una tienda, en un tabernáculo.

for I have not dwelt in a house even from the day of My bringing up the sons of Israel out of Egypt, even unto this day, and am walking up and down in a tent and in a tabernacle.

7 ‘ Dondequiera que he ido con todos los hijos de Israel, ¿hablé palabra a alguna de las tribus de Israel, a la cual haya ordenado que pastoreara a mi pueblo Israel, diciendo: “¿Por qué no me habéis edificado una casa de cedro?”’”

During all that I have walked up and down among all the sons of Israel, a word have I spoken with one of the tribes of Israel which I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, `Why have ye not built to Me a house of cedars?

8 A hora pues, así dirás a mi siervo David: “Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: ‘Yo te tomé del pastizal, de seguir las ovejas, para que fueras príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel.

and now, thus dost thou say to My servant, to David: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, I have taken thee from the comely place, from after the flock, to be leader over My people, over Israel;

9 ‘ Y he estado contigo por dondequiera que has ido y he exterminado a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, y haré de ti un gran nombre como el nombre de los grandes que hay en la tierra.

and I am with thee whithersoever thou hast gone, and I cut off all thine enemies from thy presence, and have made for thee a great name, as the name of the great ones who in the earth,

10 ‘ Asignaré también un lugar para mi pueblo Israel, y lo plantaré allí a fin de que habite en su propio lugar y no sea perturbado de nuevo, ni los aflijan más los malvados como antes,

and I have appointed a place for My people, for Israel, and have planted it, and it hath tabernacled in its place, and it is not troubled any more, and the sons of perverseness do not add to afflict it any more, as in the beginning,

11 y como desde el día en que ordené que hubiera jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel; te daré reposo de todos tus enemigos, y el Señor también te hace saber que el Señor te edificará una casa.

even from the day that I appointed judges over My people Israel; and I have given rest to thee from all thine enemies, and Jehovah hath declared to thee that Jehovah doth make for thee a house.

12 ‘ Cuando tus días se cumplan y reposes con tus padres, levantaré a tu descendiente después de ti, el cual saldrá de tus entrañas, y estableceré su reino.

`When thy days are full, and thou hast lain with thy fathers, then I have raised up thy seed after thee which goeth out from thy bowels, and have established his kingdom;

13 ‘ El edificará casa a mi nombre, y yo estableceré el trono de su reino para siempre.

He doth build a house for My Name, and I have established the throne of his kingdom unto the age.

14 ‘ Yo seré padre para él y él será hijo para mí. Cuando cometa iniquidad, lo corregiré con vara de hombres y con azotes de hijos de hombres,

I am to him for a father, and he is to Me for a son; whom in his dealings perversely I have even reproved with a rod of men, and with strokes of the sons of Adam,

15 p ero mi misericordia no se apartará de él, como la aparté de Saúl a quien quité de delante de ti.

and My kindness doth not turn aside from him, as I turned it aside from Saul, whom I turned aside from before thee,

16 ‘ Tu casa y tu reino permanecerán para siempre delante de mí; tu trono será establecido para siempre.’”

and stedfast thy house and thy kingdom unto the age before thee, thy throne is established unto the age.'

17 C onforme a todas estas palabras y conforme a toda esta visión, así habló Natán a David.

According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so spake Nathan unto David.

18 E ntonces el rey David entró y se sentó delante del Señor y dijo: ¿Quién soy yo, oh Señor Dios, y qué es mi casa para que me hayas traído hasta aquí?

And king David cometh in and sitteth before Jehovah, and saith, `Who I, Lord Jehovah? and what my house, that Thou hast brought me hitherto?

19 Y aun esto fue insignificante ante tus ojos, oh Señor Dios, pues también has hablado de la casa de tu siervo concerniente a un futuro lejano. Y esta es la ley de los hombres, oh Señor Dios.

And yet this little in Thine eyes, Lord Jehovah, and Thou dost speak also concerning the house of Thy servant afar off; and this the law of the Man, Lord Jehovah.

20 ¿ Y qué más podría decirte David? Pues tú conoces a tu siervo, oh Señor Dios.

And what doth David add more to speak unto Thee? and Thou, Thou hast known Thy servant, Lord Jehovah.

21 A causa de tu palabra, conforme a tu propio corazón, tú has hecho toda esta grandeza, para que lo sepa tu siervo.

Because of Thy word, and according to Thy heart, Thou hast done all this greatness, to cause Thy servant to know.

22 O h Señor Dios, por eso tú eres grande; pues no hay nadie como tú, ni hay Dios fuera de ti, conforme a todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.

Therefore Thou hast been great, Jehovah God, for there is none like Thee, and there is no God save Thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23 ¿ Y qué otra nación en la tierra es como tu pueblo Israel, al cual viniste a redimir para ti como pueblo, a fin de darte un nombre, y hacer grandes cosas a su favor y cosas portentosas para tu tierra, ante tu pueblo que rescataste para ti de Egipto, de naciones y de sus dioses?

`And who as Thy people, as Israel -- one nation in the earth, whom God hath gone to redeem to Him for a people, and to make for Him a name -- and to do for you the greatness -- even fearful things for Thy land, at the presence of Thy people, whom Thou hast redeemed to Thee out of Egypt -- nations and their gods?

24 P ues tú has establecido para ti a tu pueblo Israel como pueblo tuyo para siempre, y tú, Señor, has venido a ser su Dios.

Yea, Thou dost establish to Thee Thy people Israel, to Thee for a people unto the age, and Thou, Jehovah, hast been to them for God.

25 Y ahora, oh Señor Dios, confirma para siempre la palabra que has hablado acerca de tu siervo y acerca de su casa, y haz según has hablado.

`And now, Jehovah God, the word which Thou hast spoken concerning Thy servant, and concerning his house, establish unto the age, and do as Thou hast spoken;

26 Y sea engrandecido tu nombre para siempre, al decirse: “El Señor de los ejércitos es Dios sobre Israel”; y que la casa de tu siervo David sea establecida delante de ti.

And Thy Name is great unto the age, saying, Jehovah of Hosts God over Israel, and the house of Thy servant David is established before Thee,

27 P orque tú, oh Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, has revelado a tu siervo, diciendo: “Yo te edificaré casa”; por tanto, tu siervo ha hallado ánimo para elevar esta oración a ti.

For Thou, Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Thou hast uncovered the ear of Thy servant, saying, A house I build for thee, therefore hath Thy servant found his heart to pray unto Thee this prayer;

28 A hora pues, oh Señor Dios, tú eres Dios, tus palabras son verdad y tú has prometido este bien a tu siervo.

And now, Lord Jehovah, Thou God Himself, and Thy words are truth, and Thou speakest unto Thy servant this goodness,

29 Y ahora, ten a bien bendecir la casa de tu siervo, a fin de que permanezca para siempre delante de ti; porque tú, oh Señor Dios, has hablado y con tu bendición será bendita para siempre la casa de tu siervo.

And now, begin and bless the house of Thy servant, to be unto the age before Thee, for Thou, Lord Jehovah, hast spoken, and by Thy blessing is the house of Thy servant blessed -- to the age.'
