1 D espués de la muerte de Abimelec se levantó, para salvar a Israel, Tola, hijo de Puá, hijo de Dodo, varón de Isacar; y habitó en Samir, en la región montañosa de Efraín.

And there riseth after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,

2 Y juzgó a Israel veintitrés años. Y murió y fue sepultado en Samir.

and he judgeth Israel twenty and three years, and he dieth, and is buried in Shamir.

3 Y tras él se levantó Jair galaadita, y juzgó a Israel veintidós años.

And there riseth after him Jair the Gileadite, and he judgeth Israel twenty and two years,

4 E ste tuvo treinta hijos que cabalgaban en treinta asnos, y tenían treinta ciudades en la tierra de Galaad que se llaman Havot-jair hasta hoy.

and he hath thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which in the land of Gilead;

5 Y murió Jair, y fue sepultado en Camón. Opresión amonita

and Jair dieth, and is buried in Kamon.

6 L os hijos de Israel volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, sirvieron a los baales, a Astarot, a los dioses de Aram, a los dioses de Sidón, a los dioses de Moab, a los dioses de los hijos de Amón y a los dioses de los filisteos; abandonaron, pues, al Señor y no le sirvieron.

And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the Bene-Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake Jehovah, and have not served Him;

7 Y se encendió la ira del Señor contra Israel, y los entregó en manos de los filisteos y en manos de los hijos de Amón.

and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,

8 Y ellos afligieron y quebrantaron a los hijos de Israel ese año; por dieciocho años oprimieron a todos los hijos de Israel que estaban al otro lado del Jordán, en Galaad, en la tierra de los amorreos.

and they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year -- eighteen years all the sons of Israel are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which in Gilead.

9 Y los hijos de Amón cruzaron el Jordán para pelear también contra Judá, contra Benjamín y contra la casa de Efraín, y se angustió Israel en gran manera.

And the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.

10 E ntonces los hijos de Israel clamaron al Señor, diciendo: Hemos pecado contra ti, porque ciertamente hemos abandonado a nuestro Dios y servido a los baales.

And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, `We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.'

11 Y el Señor respondió a los hijos de Israel: ¿No os libré yo de los egipcios, de los amorreos, de los hijos de Amón y de los filisteos?

And Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, ` not from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?

12 C uando los sidonios, los amalecitas y los maonitas os oprimían, clamasteis a mí, y yo os libré de sus manos.

And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;

13 M as vosotros me habéis dejado y habéis servido a otros dioses; por tanto, no os libraré más.

and ye -- ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.

14 I d y clamad a los dioses que habéis escogido; que ellos os libren en el tiempo de vuestra aflicción.

Go and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they -- they save you in the time of your adversity.'

15 Y los hijos de Israel respondieron al Señor: Hemos pecado, haz con nosotros como bien te parezca; sólo te rogamos que nos libres en este día.

And the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, `We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.'

16 Y quitaron los dioses extranjeros de en medio de ellos y sirvieron al Señor; y El no pudo soportar más la angustia de Israel.

And they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.

17 E ntonces los hijos de Amón se reunieron y acamparon en Galaad. Y los hijos de Israel se juntaron y acamparon en Mizpa.

And the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.

18 Y el pueblo, los jefes de Galaad, se dijeron unos a otros: ¿Quién es el hombre que comenzará la batalla contra los hijos de Amón? El será caudillo de todos los habitantes de Galaad.

And the people -- heads of Gilead -- say one unto another, `Who the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.'
