1 E ntonces Ana oró y dijo: Mi corazón se regocija en el Señor, mi fortaleza en el Señor se exalta; mi boca sin temor habla contra mis enemigos, por cuanto me regocijo en tu salvación.

And Hannah prayeth, and saith: `My heart hath exulted in Jehovah, My horn hath been high in Jehovah, My mouth hath been large over mine enemies, For I have rejoiced in Thy salvation.

2 N o hay santo como el Señor; en verdad, no hay otro fuera de ti, ni hay roca como nuestro Dios.

There is none holy like Jehovah, For there is none save Thee, And there is no rock like our God.

3 N o os jactéis más con tanto orgullo, no salga la arrogancia de vuestra boca; porque el Señor es Dios de sabiduría, y por El son pesadas las acciones.

Ye multiply not -- ye speak haughtily -- The old saying goeth out from your mouth, For a God of knowledge Jehovah, And by Him actions are weighed.

4 Q uebrados son los arcos de los fuertes, pero los débiles se ciñen de poder.

Bows of the mighty are broken, And the stumbling have girded on strength.

5 L os que estaban saciados se alquilan por pan, y dejan de tener hambre los que estaban hambrientos. Aun la estéril da a luz a siete, mas la que tiene muchos hijos languidece.

The satiated for bread hired themselves, And the hungry have ceased. While the barren hath borne seven, And she abounding with sons hath languished.

6 E l Señor da muerte y da vida; hace bajar al Seol y hace subir.

Jehovah putteth to death, and keepeth alive, He bringeth down to Sheol, and bringeth up.

7 E l Señor empobrece y enriquece; humilla y también exalta.

Jehovah dispossesseth, and He maketh rich, He maketh low, yea, He maketh high.

8 L evanta del polvo al pobre, del muladar levanta al necesitado para hacer los sentar con los príncipes, y heredar un sitio de honor; pues las columnas de la tierra son del Señor, y sobre ellas ha colocado el mundo.

He raiseth from the dust the poor, From a dunghill He lifteth up the needy, To cause to sit with nobles, Yea, a throne of honour He doth cause them to inherit, For to Jehovah the fixtures of earth, And He setteth on them the habitable world.

9 E l guarda los pies de sus santos, mas los malvados son acallados en tinieblas, pues no por la fuerza ha de prevalecer el hombre.

The feet of His saints He keepeth, And the wicked in darkness are silent, For not by power doth man become mighty.

10 L os que contienden con el Señor serán quebrantados, El tronará desde los cielos contra ellos. El Señor juzgará los confines de la tierra, a su rey dará fortaleza, y ensalzará el poder de su ungido.

Jehovah -- broken down are His adversaries, Against them in the heavens He thundereth: Jehovah judgeth the ends of earth, And giveth strength to His king, And exalteth the horn of His anointed.'

11 E ntonces Elcana se fue a Ramá, a su casa. Y el niño servía al Señor delante del sacerdote Elí. El pecado de los hijos de Elí

And Elkanah goeth to Ramath, unto his house, and the youth hath been serving Jehovah, the presence of Eli the priest;

12 L os hijos de Elí eran hombres indignos; no conocían al Señor

and the sons of Eli sons of worthlessness, they have not known Jehovah.

13 n i la costumbre de los sacerdotes con el pueblo: cuando algún hombre ofrecía sacrificio, venía el criado del sacerdote con un tenedor de tres dientes en su mano mientras se cocía la carne,

And the custom of the priests with the people: any man sacrificing a sacrifice -- then hath the servant of the priest come in when the flesh is boiling, and the hook of three teeth in his hand,

14 l o introducía en la cazuela, la olla, la caldera o el caldero, y todo lo que el tenedor sacaba, lo tomaba el sacerdote para sí. Así hacían en Silo con todos los israelitas que allí iban.

and hath struck into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the hook bringeth up doth the priest take for himself; thus they do to all Israel who are coming in, there, in Shiloh.

15 A simismo, antes de quemar la grosura, el criado del sacerdote venía y decía al hombre que ofrecía sacrificio: Da al sacerdote carne para asar, pues no aceptará de ti carne cocida, sino solamente cruda.

Also before they make perfume with the fat -- then hath the priest's servant come in, and said to the man who is sacrificing, `Give flesh to roast for the priest, and he doth not take of thee flesh boiled, but raw;'

16 Y si el hombre le decía: Ciertamente deben quemar primero la grosura y después toma todo lo que quieras; él respondía: No, sino que me la darás ahora, y si no la tomaré por la fuerza.

and the man saith unto him, `Let them surely make a perfume (as to-day) with the fat, then take to thee as thy soul desireth;' and he hath said to him, `Surely now thou dost give; and if not -- I have taken by strength.'

17 E l pecado de los jóvenes era muy grande delante del Señor, porque los hombres menospreciaban la ofrenda del Señor. Los hijos de Ana

And the sin of the young men is very great the presence of Jehovah, for the men have despised the offering of Jehovah.

18 S amuel siendo niño, ministraba delante del Señor, usando un efod de lino.

And Samuel is ministering the presence of Jehovah, a youth girt an ephod of linen;

19 S u madre le hacía una túnica pequeña cada año, y se la traía cuando subía con su marido a ofrecer el sacrificio anual.

and a small upper coat doth his mother make to him, and she hath brought it up to him from time to time, in her coming up with her husband to sacrifice the sacrifice of the time.

20 E ntonces Elí bendecía a Elcana y a su mujer, y decía: Que el Señor te dé hijos de esta mujer en lugar del que ella dedicó al Señor. Y regresaban a su casa.

And Eli blessed Elkanah, and his wife, and said, `Jehovah doth appoint for thee seed of this woman, for the petition which she asked for Jehovah;' and they have gone to their place.

21 Y el Señor visitó a Ana, y ella concibió y dio a luz tres hijos y dos hijas. Y el niño Samuel crecía delante del Señor. Elí reprende a sus hijos

When Jehovah hath looked after Hannah, then she conceiveth and beareth three sons and two daughters; and the youth Samuel groweth up with Jehovah.

22 E lí era ya muy anciano; oyó todo lo que sus hijos estaban haciendo a todo Israel, y cómo se acostaban con las mujeres que servían a la entrada de la tienda de reunión,

And Eli very old, and hath heard all that his sons do to all Israel, and how that they lie with the women who are assembling the opening of the tent of meeting,

23 y les dijo: ¿Por qué hacéis estas cosas, las cosas malas de que oigo hablar a todo este pueblo?

and he saith to them, `Why do ye things like these? for I am hearing of your evil words from all the people -- these!

24 N o, hijos míos; porque no es bueno el informe que oigo circular por el pueblo del Señor.

Nay, my sons; for the report which I am hearing is not good causing the people of Jehovah to transgress. --

25 S i un hombre peca contra otro, Dios mediará por él; pero si un hombre peca contra el Señor, ¿quién intercederá por él ? Pero ellos no escucharon la voz de su padre, porque el Señor quería que murieran.

If a man sin against a man, then hath God judged him; but if against Jehovah a man sin, who doth pray for him?' and they hearken not to the voice of their father, though Jehovah hath delighted to put them to death.

26 Y el niño Samuel crecía en estatura y en gracia para con el Señor y para con los hombres. Profecía contra la casa de Elí

And the youth Samuel is going on and growing up, and good both with Jehovah, and also with men.

27 E ntonces un hombre de Dios vino a Elí y le dijo: Así dice el Señor: “¿ No me revelé ciertamente a la casa de tu padre cuando ellos estaban en Egipto, esclavos de la casa de Faraón?

And there cometh a man of God unto Eli, and saith unto him, `Thus said Jehovah, Was I really revealed unto the house of thy father in their being in Egypt, before Pharaoh's house,

28 “ ¿ No los escogí de entre todas las tribus de Israel para ser mis sacerdotes, para subir a mi altar, para quemar incienso, para llevar un efod delante de mí ? ¿ No di a la casa de tu padre todas las ofrendas encendidas de los hijos de Israel ?

even to choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to Me for a priest, to go up on Mine altar, to make a perfume, to bear an ephod before Me, and I give to the house of thy father all the fire-offerings of the sons of Israel?

29 “ ¿Por qué pisoteáis mi sacrificio y mi ofrenda que he ordenado en mi morada, y honras a tus hijos más que a mí, engordándoos con lo mejor de cada ofrenda de mi pueblo Israel?”

Why do ye kick at My sacrifice, and at Mine offering which I commanded My habitation, and dost honour thy sons above Me, to make yourselves fat from the first part of every offering of Israel, of My people?

30 P or tanto, el Señor, Dios de Israel, declara: “Ciertamente yo había dicho que tu casa y la casa de tu padre andarían delante de mí para siempre ”; pero ahora el Señor declara: “Lejos esté esto de mí, porque yo honraré a los que me honran, y los que me menosprecian serán tenidos en poco.

`Therefore -- the affirmation of Jehovah, God of Israel -- I certainly said, Thy house and the house of thy father, do walk up and down before Me to the age; and now -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- Far be it from Me! for he who is honouring Me, I honour, and those despising Me, are lightly esteemed.

31 “ He aquí, vienen días cuando cortaré tu fuerza, y la fuerza de la casa de tu padre, y no habrá anciano en tu casa.

`Lo, days coming, and I have cut off thine arm, and the arm of the house of thy father, that an old man is not in thy house;

32 “ Y verás la angustia de mi morada, a pesar de todo el bien que hago a Israel; y nunca habrá anciano en tu casa.

and thou hast beheld an adversary habitation, in all that He doth good with Israel, and there is not an old man in thy house all the days.

33 “ Sin embargo, a algunos de los tuyos no cortaré de mi altar para que tus ojos se consuman llorando y tu alma sufra; pero todos los nacidos en tu casa morirán en la flor de la juventud.

`And the man I cut not off of thine from Mine altar, to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thy soul; and all the increase of thy house do die men;

34 “ Y para ti, ésta será la señal que vendrá en cuanto a tus dos hijos, Ofni y Finees: en el mismo día morirán los dos.

and this to thee the sign that cometh unto thy two sons, unto Hophni and Phinehas -- in one day they die both of them;

35 “ Pero levantaré para mí un sacerdote fiel que hará conforme a los deseos de mi corazón y de mi alma; y le edificaré una casa duradera, y él andará siempre delante de mi ungido.

and I have raised up for Me a stedfast priest; as in My heart and in My soul he doth do; and I have built for him a stedfast house, and he hath walked up and down before Mine anointed all the days;

36 “ Y acontecerá que todo aquel que haya quedado de tu casa vendrá y se postrará ante él por una moneda de plata o una torta de pan, y dirá: ‘Asígname a uno de los oficios sacerdotales para que pueda comer un bocado de pan.’”

and it hath been, every one who is left in thy house doth come in to bow himself to him, for a wage of silver, and a cake of bread, and hath said, Admit me, I pray thee, unto one of the priest's offices, to eat a morsel of bread.'
