1 S aúl dijo a su hijo Jonatán y a todos sus siervos que dieran muerte a David; pero Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, apreciaba grandemente a David.

And Saul speaketh unto Jonathan his son, and unto all his servants, to put David to death,

2 Y avisó Jonatán a David, diciendo: Saúl mi padre procura matarte. Ahora pues, te ruego que estés alerta por la mañana, y permanezcas en un lugar secreto y te escondas.

and Jonathan son of Saul delighted exceedingly in David, and Jonathan declareth to David, saying, `Saul my father is seeking to put thee to death, and, now, take heed, I pray thee, in the morning, and thou hast abode in a secret place, and been hidden,

3 Y o saldré y me pondré al lado de mi padre en el campo donde tú te encuentres, y hablaré con mi padre de ti; si descubro algo, te avisaré.

and I -- I go out, and have stood by the side of my father in the field where thou, and I speak of thee unto my father, and have seen what, and have declared to thee.'

4 E ntonces Jonatán habló bien de David a Saúl su padre, y le dijo: No peque el rey contra David su siervo, puesto que él no ha pecado contra ti, y puesto que sus hechos han sido de mucho beneficio para ti.

And Jonathan speaketh good of David unto Saul his father, and saith unto him, `Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works for thee very good;

5 P orque puso su vida en peligro e hirió al filisteo, y el Señor trajo una gran liberación a todo Israel; tú lo viste y te regocijaste. ¿Por qué, pues, pecarás contra sangre inocente, dando muerte a David sin causa ?

yea, he putteth his life in his hand, and smiteth the Philistine, and Jehovah worketh a great salvation for all Israel; thou hast seen, and dost rejoice, and why dost thou sin against innocent blood, to put David to death for nought?'

6 Y escuchó Saúl la voz de Jonatán, y juró: Vive el Señor que no morirá.

And Saul hearkeneth to the voice of Jonathan, and Saul sweareth, `Jehovah liveth -- he doth not die.'

7 E ntonces Jonatán llamó a David y le comunicó todas estas palabras. Y Jonatán llevó a David ante Saúl, y estuvo en su presencia como antes.

And Jonathan calleth for David, and Jonathan declareth to him all these words, and Jonathan bringeth in David unto Saul, and he is before him as heretofore.

8 C uando hubo guerra de nuevo, David salió y peleó contra los filisteos, y los derrotó con gran matanza, y huyeron delante de él.

And there addeth to be war, and David goeth out and fighteth against the Philistines, and smiteth among them -- a great smiting, and they flee from his face.

9 Y vino un espíritu malo de parte del Señor sobre Saúl; y estaba él sentado en su casa con su lanza en la mano mientras David tocaba el arpa.

And a spirit of sadness Jehovah is unto Saul, and he is sitting in his house, and his javelin in his hand, and David is playing with the hand,

10 Y trató Saúl de clavar a David en la pared con la lanza, pero éste se escurrió de la presencia de Saúl, y la lanza se clavó en la pared; David huyó y escapó aquella noche. David salvado por Mical

and Saul seeketh to smite with the javelin through David, and through the wall, and he freeth himself from the presence of Saul, and he smiteth the javelin through the wall; and David hath fled and escapeth during that night.

11 S aúl envió mensajeros a la casa de David para vigilarle a fin de matarlo por la mañana; pero Mical, mujer de David, le avisó, diciendo: Si no pones a salvo tu vida esta noche, mañana te darán muerte.

And Saul sendeth messengers unto the house of David to watch him, and to put him to death in the morning; and Michal his wife declareth to David, saying, `If thou art not delivering thy life to-night -- tomorrow thou art put to death.'

12 M ical descolgó a David por una ventana, y él salió, huyó y escapó.

And Michal causeth David to go down through the window, and he goeth on, and fleeth, and escapeth;

13 Y tomó Mical el ídolo doméstico y lo puso en la cama, puso a su cabecera una almohada de pelo de cabra y lo cubrió con ropa.

and Michal taketh the teraphim, and layeth on the bed, and the mattress of goats' she hath put his pillows, and covereth with a garment.

14 C uando Saúl envió mensajeros para llevarse a David, ella dijo: Está enfermo.

And Saul sendeth messengers to take David, and she saith, `He sick.'

15 E ntonces Saúl envió mensajeros a ver a David, diciendo: Traédmelo en la cama, para que yo lo mate.

And Saul sendeth the messengers to see David, saying, `Bring him up in the bed unto me,' -- to put him to death.

16 C uando los mensajeros entraron, he aquí, el ídolo doméstico estaba sobre la cama con la almohada de pelo de cabra a su cabecera.

And the messengers come in, and lo, the teraphim on the bed, and the mattress of goats', his pillows.

17 Y Saúl dijo a Mical: ¿Por qué me has engañado de esta manera y has dejado ir a mi enemigo, de modo que ha escapado? Y Mical dijo a Saúl: El me dijo: “Déjame ir, porque si no te mato.”

And Saul saith unto Michal, `Why thus hast thou deceived me -- that thou dost send away mine enemy, and he is escaped?' and Michal saith unto Saul, `He said unto me, Send me away: why do I put thee to death?'

18 H uyó, pues, David y escapó, y fue a donde estaba Samuel en Ramá, y le contó todo lo que Saúl le había hecho. Y él y Samuel fueron y se quedaron en Naiot.

And David hath fled, and is escaped, and cometh in unto Samuel to Ramath, and declareth to him all that Saul hath done to him, and he goeth, he and Samuel, and they dwell in Naioth.

19 Y se le informó a Saúl diciendo: He aquí, David está en Naiot, en Ramá.

And it is declared to Saul, saying, `Lo, David in Naioth in Ramah.'

20 S aúl envió mensajeros para llevarse a David, pero cuando vieron al grupo de los profetas profetizando, y a Samuel de pie presidiéndolos, el Espíritu de Dios vino sobre los mensajeros de Saúl, y ellos también profetizaron.

And Saul sendeth messengers to take David, and they see the assembly of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing, set over them, and the Spirit of God is on Saul's messengers, and they prophesy -- they also.

21 C uando se lo dijeron a Saúl, envió otros mensajeros, y también ellos profetizaron. Y por tercera vez Saúl envió mensajeros, y ellos también profetizaron.

And they declare to Saul, and he sendeth other messengers, and they prophesy -- they also; and Saul addeth and sendeth messengers a third time, and they prophesy -- they also.

22 E ntonces él mismo fue a Ramá, y llegó hasta el pozo grande que está en Secú; y preguntó, diciendo: ¿Dónde están Samuel y David? Y alguien dijo: He aquí, están en Naiot en Ramá.

And he goeth -- he also -- to Ramath, and cometh in unto the great well which in Sechu, and asketh, and saith, `Where Samuel and David?' and saith, `Lo, in Naioth in Ramah.'

23 Y él prosiguió hasta Naiot en Ramá; y vino también el Espíritu de Dios sobre él, e iba profetizando continuamente hasta llegar a Naiot en Ramá.

And he goeth thither -- unto Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God is upon him -- him also; and he goeth, going on, and he prophesyeth till his coming in to Naioth in Ramah,

24 S e quitó además la ropa, también profetizó delante de Samuel, y estuvo echado desnudo todo aquel día y toda la noche. Por lo que suele decirse: ¿También está Saúl entre los profetas ?

and he strippeth off -- he also -- his garments, and prophesieth -- he also -- before Samuel, and falleth down naked all that day and all the night; therefore they say, `Is Saul also among the prophets?'
