1 И говорил Саул Ионафану, сыну своему, и всем слугам своим, чтобы умертвить Давида; но Ионафан, сын Саула, очень любил Давида.

And Saul speaketh unto Jonathan his son, and unto all his servants, to put David to death,

2 И известил Ионафан Давида, говоря: отец мой Саул ищет умертвить тебя; итак берегись завтра; скройся и будь в потаенном месте;

and Jonathan son of Saul delighted exceedingly in David, and Jonathan declareth to David, saying, `Saul my father is seeking to put thee to death, and, now, take heed, I pray thee, in the morning, and thou hast abode in a secret place, and been hidden,

3 а я выйду и стану подле отца моего на поле, где ты будешь, и поговорю о тебе отцу моему, и что увижу, расскажу тебе.

and I -- I go out, and have stood by the side of my father in the field where thou, and I speak of thee unto my father, and have seen what, and have declared to thee.'

4 И говорил Ионафан доброе о Давиде Саулу, отцу своему, и сказал ему: да не грешит царь против раба своего Давида, ибо он ничем не согрешил против тебя, и дела его весьма полезны для тебя;

And Jonathan speaketh good of David unto Saul his father, and saith unto him, `Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works for thee very good;

5 о н подвергал опасности душу свою, чтобы поразить Филистимлянина, и Господь соделал великое спасение всему Израилю; ты видел и радовался; для чего же ты хочешь согрешить невинной крови и умертвить Давида без причины?

yea, he putteth his life in his hand, and smiteth the Philistine, and Jehovah worketh a great salvation for all Israel; thou hast seen, and dost rejoice, and why dost thou sin against innocent blood, to put David to death for nought?'

6 И послушал Саул голоса Ионафана и поклялся Саул: жив Господь, не умрет.

And Saul hearkeneth to the voice of Jonathan, and Saul sweareth, `Jehovah liveth -- he doth not die.'

7 И позвал Ионафан Давида, и пересказал ему Ионафан все слова сии, и привел Ионафан Давида к Саулу, и он был при нем, как вчера и третьего дня.

And Jonathan calleth for David, and Jonathan declareth to him all these words, and Jonathan bringeth in David unto Saul, and he is before him as heretofore.

8 О пять началась война, и вышел Давид, и воевал с Филистимлянами, и нанес им великое поражение, и они побежали от него.

And there addeth to be war, and David goeth out and fighteth against the Philistines, and smiteth among them -- a great smiting, and they flee from his face.

9 И злой дух от Бога напал на Саула, и он сидел в доме своем, и копье его было в руке его, а Давид играл рукою своею на струнах.

And a spirit of sadness Jehovah is unto Saul, and he is sitting in his house, and his javelin in his hand, and David is playing with the hand,

10 И хотел Саул пригвоздить Давида копьем к стене, но Давид отскочил от Саула, и копье вонзилось в стену; Давид же убежал и спасся в ту ночь.

and Saul seeketh to smite with the javelin through David, and through the wall, and he freeth himself from the presence of Saul, and he smiteth the javelin through the wall; and David hath fled and escapeth during that night.

11 И послал Саул слуг в дом к Давиду, чтобы стеречь его и убить его до утра. И сказала Давиду Мелхола, жена его: если ты не спасешь души твоей в эту ночь, то завтра будешь убит.

And Saul sendeth messengers unto the house of David to watch him, and to put him to death in the morning; and Michal his wife declareth to David, saying, `If thou art not delivering thy life to-night -- tomorrow thou art put to death.'

12 И спустила Мелхола Давида из окна, и он пошел, и убежал и спасся.

And Michal causeth David to go down through the window, and he goeth on, and fleeth, and escapeth;

13 М елхола же взяла статую и положила на постель, а в изголовье ее положила козью кожу, и покрыла одеждою.

and Michal taketh the teraphim, and layeth on the bed, and the mattress of goats' she hath put his pillows, and covereth with a garment.

14 И послал Саул слуг, чтобы взять Давида; но сказала: он болен.

And Saul sendeth messengers to take David, and she saith, `He sick.'

15 И послал Саул слуг, чтобы осмотреть Давида, говоря: принесите его ко мне на постели, чтоб убить его.

And Saul sendeth the messengers to see David, saying, `Bring him up in the bed unto me,' -- to put him to death.

16 И пришли слуги, и вот, на постели статуя, а в изголовье ее козья кожа.

And the messengers come in, and lo, the teraphim on the bed, and the mattress of goats', his pillows.

17 Т огда Саул сказал Мелхоле: для чего ты так обманула меня и отпустила врага моего, чтоб он убежал? И сказала Мелхола Саулу: он сказал мне: отпусти меня, иначе я убью тебя.

And Saul saith unto Michal, `Why thus hast thou deceived me -- that thou dost send away mine enemy, and he is escaped?' and Michal saith unto Saul, `He said unto me, Send me away: why do I put thee to death?'

18 И убежал Давид и спасся, и пришел к Самуилу в Раму и рассказал ему все, что делал с ним Саул. И пошел он с Самуилом, и остановились они в Навафе.

And David hath fled, and is escaped, and cometh in unto Samuel to Ramath, and declareth to him all that Saul hath done to him, and he goeth, he and Samuel, and they dwell in Naioth.

19 И донесли Саулу, говоря: вот, Давид в Навафе, в Раме.

And it is declared to Saul, saying, `Lo, David in Naioth in Ramah.'

20 И послал Саул слуг взять Давида, и увидели они сонм пророков пророчествующих и Самуила, начальствующего над ними, то Дух Божий сошел на слуг Саула, и они стали пророчествовать.

And Saul sendeth messengers to take David, and they see the assembly of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing, set over them, and the Spirit of God is on Saul's messengers, and they prophesy -- they also.

21 Д онесли Саулу, и он послал других слуг, но и эти стали пророчествовать. Потом послал Саул третьих слуг, и эти стали пророчествовать.

And they declare to Saul, and he sendeth other messengers, and they prophesy -- they also; and Saul addeth and sendeth messengers a third time, and they prophesy -- they also.

22 С аул сам пошел в Раму, и дошел до большого источника, что в Сефе, и спросил, говоря: где Самуил и Давид? И сказали: вот, в Навафе, в Раме.

And he goeth -- he also -- to Ramath, and cometh in unto the great well which in Sechu, and asketh, and saith, `Where Samuel and David?' and saith, `Lo, in Naioth in Ramah.'

23 И пошел он туда в Наваф в Раме, и на него сошел Дух Божий, и он шел и пророчествовал, доколе не пришел в Наваф в Раме.

And he goeth thither -- unto Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God is upon him -- him also; and he goeth, going on, and he prophesyeth till his coming in to Naioth in Ramah,

24 И снял и он одежды свои, и пророчествовал пред Самуилом, и весь день тот и всю ту ночь лежал неодетый; поэтому говорят: 'неужели и Саул во пророках?'

and he strippeth off -- he also -- his garments, and prophesieth -- he also -- before Samuel, and falleth down naked all that day and all the night; therefore they say, `Is Saul also among the prophets?'
