1 И продолжал Елиуй и сказал:

And Elihu answereth and saith: --

2 с читаешь ли ты справедливым, что сказал: я правее Бога?

This hast thou reckoned for judgment: Thou hast said -- `My righteousness more than God's?'

3 Т ы сказал: что пользы мне? и какую прибыль я имел бы пред тем, как если бы я и грешил?

For thou sayest, `What doth it profit Thee! What do I profit from my sin?'

4 Я отвечу тебе и твоим друзьям с тобою:

I return thee words, and thy friends with thee,

5 в згляни на небо и смотри; воззри на облака, они выше тебя.

Behold attentively the heavens -- and see, And behold the clouds, They have been higher than thou.

6 Е сли ты грешишь, что делаешь ты Ему? и если преступления твои умножаются, что причиняешь ты Ему?

If thou hast sinned, what dost thou against Him? And thy transgressions have been multiplied, What dost thou to Him?

7 Е сли ты праведен, что даешь Ему? или что получает Он от руки твоей?

If thou hast been righteous, What dost thou give to Him? Or what from thy hand doth He receive?

8 Н ечестие твое относится к человеку, как ты, и праведность твоя к сыну человеческому.

For a man like thyself thy wickedness, And for a son of man thy righteousness.

9 О т множества притеснителей стонут притесняемые, и от руки сильных вопиют.

Because of the multitude of oppressions They cause to cry out, They cry because of the arm of the mighty.

10 Н о никто не говорит: где Бог, Творец мой, Который дает песни в ночи,

And none said, `Where God my maker? Giving songs in the night,

11 К оторый научает нас более, нежели скотов земных, и вразумляет нас более, нежели птиц небесных?

Teaching us more than the beasts of the earth, Yea, than the fowl of the heavens He maketh us wiser.'

12 Т ам они вопиют, и Он не отвечает им, по причине гордости злых людей.

There they cry, and He doth not answer, Because of the pride of evil doers.

13 Н о неправда, что Бог не слышит и Вседержитель не взирает на это.

Surely vanity God doth not hear, And the Mighty doth not behold it.

14 Х отя ты сказал, что ты не видишь Его, но суд пред Ним, и--жди его.

Yea, though thou sayest thou dost not behold Him, Judgment before Him, and stay for Him.

15 Н о ныне, потому что гнев Его не посетил его и он не познал его во всей строгости,

And, now, because there is not, He hath appointed His anger, And He hath not known in great extremity.

16 И ов и открыл легкомысленно уста свои и безрассудно расточает слова.

And Job vanity doth open his mouth, Without knowledge words he multiplieth.
