1 以 利 户 又 说 ：

And Elihu answereth and saith: --

2 你 以 为 有 理 ， 或 以 为 你 的 公 义 胜 於 神 的 公 义 ，

This hast thou reckoned for judgment: Thou hast said -- `My righteousness more than God's?'

3 才 说 这 与 我 有 甚 麽 益 处 ？ 我 不 犯 罪 比 犯 罪 有 甚 麽 好 处 呢 ？

For thou sayest, `What doth it profit Thee! What do I profit from my sin?'

4 我 要 回 答 你 和 在 你 这 里 的 朋 友 。

I return thee words, and thy friends with thee,

5 你 要 向 天 观 看 ， 瞻 望 那 高 於 你 的 穹 苍 。

Behold attentively the heavens -- and see, And behold the clouds, They have been higher than thou.

6 你 若 犯 罪 ， 能 使 神 受 何 害 呢 ？ 你 的 过 犯 加 增 ， 能 使 神 受 何 损 呢 ？

If thou hast sinned, what dost thou against Him? And thy transgressions have been multiplied, What dost thou to Him?

7 你 若 是 公 义 ， 还 能 加 增 他 甚 麽 呢 ？ 他 从 你 手 里 还 接 受 甚 麽 呢 ？

If thou hast been righteous, What dost thou give to Him? Or what from thy hand doth He receive?

8 你 的 过 恶 或 能 害 你 这 类 的 人 ； 你 的 公 义 或 能 叫 世 人 得 益 处 。

For a man like thyself thy wickedness, And for a son of man thy righteousness.

9 人 因 多 受 欺 压 就 哀 求 ， 因 受 能 者 的 辖 制 （ 原 文 是 膀 臂 ） 便 求 救 ，

Because of the multitude of oppressions They cause to cry out, They cry because of the arm of the mighty.

10 却 无 人 说 ： 造 我 的 神 在 哪 里 ？ 他 使 人 夜 间 歌 唱 ，

And none said, `Where God my maker? Giving songs in the night,

11 教 训 我 们 胜 於 地 上 的 走 兽 ， 使 我 们 有 聪 明 胜 於 空 中 的 飞 鸟 。

Teaching us more than the beasts of the earth, Yea, than the fowl of the heavens He maketh us wiser.'

12 他 们 在 那 里 ， 因 恶 人 的 骄 傲 呼 求 ， 却 无 人 答 应 。

There they cry, and He doth not answer, Because of the pride of evil doers.

13 虚 妄 的 呼 求 ， 神 必 不 垂 听 ； 全 能 者 也 必 不 眷 顾 。

Surely vanity God doth not hear, And the Mighty doth not behold it.

14 何 况 你 说 ， 你 不 得 见 他 ； 你 的 案 件 在 他 面 前 ， 你 等 候 他 罢 。

Yea, though thou sayest thou dost not behold Him, Judgment before Him, and stay for Him.

15 但 如 今 因 他 未 曾 发 怒 降 罚 ， 也 不 甚 理 会 狂 傲 ，

And, now, because there is not, He hath appointed His anger, And He hath not known in great extremity.

16 所 以 约 伯 开 口 说 虚 妄 的 话 ， 多 发 无 知 识 的 言 语 。

And Job vanity doth open his mouth, Without knowledge words he multiplieth.
