1 亚 伯 兰 带 着 他 的 妻 子 与 罗 得 ， 并 一 切 所 有 的 ， 都 从 埃 及 上 南 地 去 。

And Abram goeth up from Egypt (he and his wife, and all that he hath, and Lot with him) towards the south;

2 亚 伯 兰 的 金 、 银 、 牲 畜 极 多 。

and Abram exceedingly wealthy in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

3 他 从 南 地 渐 渐 往 伯 特 利 去 ， 到 了 伯 特 利 和 艾 的 中 间 ， 就 是 从 前 支 搭 帐 棚 的 地 方 ，

And he goeth on his journeyings from the south, even unto Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the commencement, between Bethel and Hai --

4 也 是 他 起 先 筑 坛 的 地 方 ； 他 又 在 那 里 求 告 耶 和 华 的 名 。

unto the place of the altar which he made there at the first, and there doth Abram preach in the name of Jehovah.

5 与 亚 伯 兰 同 行 的 罗 得 也 有 牛 群 、 羊 群 、 帐 棚 。

And also to Lot, who is going with Abram, there hath been sheep and oxen and tents;

6 那 地 容 不 下 他 们 ； 因 为 他 们 的 财 物 甚 多 ， 使 他 们 不 能 同 居 。

and the land hath not suffered them to dwell together, for their substance hath been much, and they have not been able to dwell together;

7 当 时 ， 迦 南 人 与 比 利 洗 人 在 那 地 居 住 。 亚 伯 兰 的 牧 人 和 罗 得 的 牧 人 相 争 。

and there is a strife between those feeding Abram's cattle and those feeding Lot's cattle; and the Canaanite and the Perizzite then dwelling in the land.

8 亚 伯 兰 就 对 罗 得 说 ： 你 我 不 可 相 争 ， 你 的 牧 人 和 我 的 牧 人 也 不 可 相 争 ， 因 为 我 们 是 骨 肉 ( 原 文 作 弟 兄 ) 。

And Abram saith unto Lot, `Let there not, I pray thee, be strife between me and thee, and between my shepherds and thy shepherds, for we men -- brethren.

9 遍 地 不 都 在 你 眼 前 麽 ？ 请 你 离 开 我 ： 你 向 左 ， 我 就 向 右 ； 你 向 右 ， 我 就 向 左 。

Is not all the land before thee? be parted, I pray thee, from me; if to the left, then I to the right; and if to the right, then I to the left.'

10 罗 得 举 目 看 见 约 但 河 的 全 平 原 ， 直 到 琐 珥 ， 都 是 滋 润 的 ， 那 地 在 耶 和 华 未 灭 所 多 玛 、 蛾 摩 拉 以 先 如 同 耶 和 华 的 园 子 ， 也 像 埃 及 地 。

And Lot lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the whole circuit of the Jordan that it all a watered country (before Jehovah's destroying Sodom and Gomorrah, as Jehovah's garden, as the land of Egypt,) in thy coming toward Zoar,

11 於 是 罗 得 选 择 约 但 河 的 全 平 原 ， 往 东 迁 移 ； 他 们 就 彼 此 分 离 了 。

and Lot chooseth for himself the whole circuit of the Jordan; and Lot journeyeth from the east, and they are parted -- a man from his companion;

12 亚 伯 兰 住 在 迦 南 地 ， 罗 得 住 在 平 原 的 城 邑 ， 渐 渐 挪 移 帐 棚 ， 直 到 所 多 玛 。

Abram hath dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot hath dwelt in the cities of the circuit, and tenteth unto Sodom;

13 所 多 玛 人 在 耶 和 华 面 前 罪 大 恶 极 。

and the men of Sodom evil, and sinners before Jehovah exceedingly.

14 罗 得 离 别 亚 伯 兰 以 後 ， 耶 和 华 对 亚 伯 兰 说 ： 从 你 所 在 的 地 方 ， 你 举 目 向 东 西 南 北 观 看 ；

And Jehovah said unto Abram, after Lot's being parted from him, `Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and look from the place where thou, northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward;

15 凡 你 所 看 见 的 一 切 地 ， 我 都 要 赐 给 你 和 你 的 後 裔 ， 直 到 永 远 。

for the whole of the land which thou are seeing, to thee I give it, and to thy seed -- to the age.

16 我 也 要 使 你 的 後 裔 如 同 地 上 的 尘 沙 那 样 多 ， 人 若 能 数 算 地 上 的 尘 沙 才 能 数 算 你 的 後 裔 。

And I have set thy seed as dust of the earth, so that, if one is able to number the dust of the earth, even thy seed is numbered;

17 你 起 来 ， 纵 横 走 遍 这 地 ， 因 为 我 必 把 这 地 赐 给 你 。

rise, go up and down through the land, to its length, and to its breadth, for to thee I give it.'

18 亚 伯 兰 就 搬 了 帐 棚 ， 来 到 希 伯 仑 幔 利 的 橡 树 那 里 居 住 ， 在 那 里 为 耶 和 华 筑 了 一 座 坛 。

And Abram tenteth, and cometh, and dwelleth among the oaks of Mamre, which in Hebron, and buildeth there an altar to Jehovah.
