1 Н а стражу мою стал я и, стоя на башне, наблюдал, чтобы узнать, что скажет Он во мне, и что мне отвечать по жалобе моей?

On my charge I stand, and I station myself on a bulwark, and I watch to see what He doth speak against me, and what I do reply to my reproof.

2 И отвечал мне Господь и сказал: запиши видение и начертай ясно на скрижалях, чтобы читающий легко мог прочитать,

And Jehovah answereth me and saith: `Write a vision, and explain on the tables, That he may run who is reading it.

3 и бо видение относится еще к определенному времени и говорит о конце и не обманет; и хотя бы и замедлило, жди его, ибо непременно сбудется, не отменится.

For yet the vision for a season, And it breatheth for the end, and doth not lie, If it tarry, wait for it, For surely it cometh, it is not late.

4 В от, душа надменная не успокоится, а праведный своею верою жив будет.

Lo, a presumptuous one! Not upright is his soul within him, And the righteous by his stedfastness liveth.

5 Н адменный человек, как бродящее вино, не успокаивается, так что расширяет душу свою как ад, и как смерть он ненасытен, и собирает к себе все народы, и захватывает себе все племена.

And also, because the wine treacherous, A man is haughty, and remaineth not at home, Who hath enlarged as sheol his soul, And is as death that is not satisfied, And doth gather unto itself all the nations, And doth assemble unto itself all the peoples,

6 Н о не все ли они будут произносить о нем притчу и насмешливую песнь: 'горе тому, кто без меры обогащает себя не своим, --на долго ли? --и обременяет себя залогами!'

Do not these -- all of them -- against him a simile taken up, And a moral of acute sayings for him, And say, Wo him who is multiplying not his? Till when also is he multiplying to himself heavy pledges?

7 Н е восстанут ли внезапно те, которые будут терзать тебя, и не поднимутся ли против тебя грабители, и ты достанешься им на расхищение?

Do not thy usurers instantly rise up, And those shaking thee awake up, And thou hast been for a spoil to them?

8 Т ак как ты ограбил многие народы, то и тебя ограбят все остальные народы за пролитие крови человеческой, за разорение страны, города и всех живущих в нем.

Because thou hast spoiled many nations, Spoil thee do all the remnant of the peoples, Because of man's blood, and of violence the land, the city, and all dwelling in it.

9 Г оре тому, кто жаждет неправедных приобретений для дома своего, чтобы устроить гнездо свое на высоте и тем обезопасить себя от руки несчастья!

Wo him who is gaining evil gain for his house, To set on high his nest, To be delivered from the hand of evil,

10 Б есславие измыслил ты для твоего дома, истребляя многие народы, и согрешил против души твоей.

Thou hast counselled a shameful thing to thy house, To cut off many peoples, and sinful thy soul.

11 К амни из стен возопиют и перекладины из дерева будут отвечать им:

For a stone from the wall doth cry out, And a holdfast from the wood answereth it.

12 ' горе строящему город на крови и созидающему крепости неправдою!'

Wo him who is building a city by blood, And establishing a city by iniquity.

13 В от, не от Господа ли Саваофа это, что народы трудятся для огня и племена мучат себя напрасно?

Lo, is it not from Jehovah of Hosts And peoples are fatigued for fire, And nations for vanity are weary?

14 И бо земля наполнится познанием славы Господа, как воды наполняют море.

For full is the earth of the knowledge of the honour of Jehovah, As waters cover a sea.

15 Г оре тебе, который подаешь ближнему твоему питье с примесью злобы твоей и делаешь его пьяным, чтобы видеть срамоту его!

Wo him who is giving drink to his neighbour, Pouring out thy bottle, and also making drunk, In order to look on their nakedness.

16 Т ы пресытился стыдом вместо славы; пей же и ты и показывай срамоту, --обратится и к тебе чаша десницы Господней и посрамление на славу твою.

Thou hast been filled -- shame without honour, Drink thou also, and be uncircumcised, Turn round unto thee doth the cup of the right hand of Jehovah, And shameful spewing on thine honour.

17 И бо злодейство твое на Ливане обрушится на тебя за истребление устрашенных животных, за пролитие крови человеческой, за опустошение страны, города и всех живущих в нем.

For violence Lebanon doth cover thee, And spoil of beasts doth affright them, Because of man's blood, and of violence the land, the city, and all dwelling in it.

18 Ч то за польза от истукана, сделанного художником, этого литаго лжеучителя, хотя ваятель, делая немые кумиры, полагается на свое произведение?

What profit hath a graven image given That its former hath graven it? A molten image and teacher of falsehood, That trusted hath the former on his own formation -- to make dumb idols?

19 Г оре тому, кто говорит дереву: 'встань!' и бессловесному камню: 'пробудись!' Научит ли он чему-нибудь? Вот, он обложен золотом и серебром, но дыхания в нем нет.

Wo him who is saying to wood, `Awake,' `Stir up,' to a dumb stone, It a teacher! lo, it is overlaid -- gold and silver, And there is no spirit in its midst.

20 А Господь--во святом храме Своем: да молчит вся земля пред лицем Его!

And Jehovah in His holy temple, Be silent before Him, all the earth!
