1 С ын мой! внимай мудрости моей, и приклони ухо твое к разуму моему,

My son! to my wisdom give attention, To mine understanding incline thine ear,

2 ч тобы соблюсти рассудительность, и чтобы уста твои сохранили знание.

To observe thoughtfulness, And knowledge do thy lips keep.

3 и бо мед источают уста чужой жены, и мягче елея речь ее;

For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, And smoother than oil her mouth,

4 н о последствия от нее горьки, как полынь, остры, как меч обоюдоострый;

And her latter end bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a sword mouths.

5 н оги ее нисходят к смерти, стопы ее достигают преисподней.

Her feet are going down to death, Sheol do her steps take hold of.

6 Е сли бы ты захотел постигнуть стезю жизни ее, то пути ее непостоянны, и ты не узнаешь их.

The path of life -- lest thou ponder, Moved have her paths -- thou knowest not.

7 И так, дети, слушайте меня и не отступайте от слов уст моих.

And now, ye sons, hearken to me, And turn not from sayings of my mouth.

8 Д ержи дальше от нее путь твой и не подходи близко к дверям дома ее,

Keep far from off her thy way, And come not near unto the opening of her house,

9 ч тобы здоровья твоего не отдать другим и лет твоих мучителю;

Lest thou give to others thy honour, And thy years to the fierce,

10 ч тобы не насыщались силою твоею чужие, и труды твои не были для чужого дома.

Lest strangers be filled thy power, And thy labours in the house of a stranger,

11 И ты будешь стонать после, когда плоть твоя и тело твое будут истощены, --

And thou hast howled in thy latter end, In the consumption of thy flesh and thy food,

12 и скажешь: 'зачем я ненавидел наставление, и сердце мое пренебрегало обличением,

And hast said, `How have I hated instruction, And reproof hath my heart despised,

13 и я не слушал голоса учителей моих, не приклонял уха моего к наставникам моим:

And I have not hearkened to the voice of my directors, And to my teachers have not inclined mine ear.

14 е два не впал я во всякое зло среди собрания и общества!'

As a little thing I have been all evil, In the midst of an assembly and a company.

15 П ей воду из твоего водоема и текущую из твоего колодезя.

Drink waters out of thine own cistern, Even flowing ones out of thine own well.

16 П усть разливаются источники твои по улице, потоки вод--по площадям;

Let thy fountains be scattered abroad, In broad places rivulets of waters.

17 п усть они будут принадлежать тебе одному, а не чужим с тобою.

Let them be to thee for thyself, And not to strangers with thee.

18 И сточник твой да будет благословен; и утешайся женою юности твоей,

Let thy fountain be blessed, And rejoice because of the wife of thy youth,

19 л юбезною ланью и прекрасною серною: груди ее да упоявают тебя во всякое время, любовью ее услаждайся постоянно.

A hind of loves, and a roe of grace! Let her loves satisfy thee at all times, In her love magnify thyself continually.

20 И для чего тебе, сын мой, увлекаться постороннею и обнимать груди чужой?

And why dost thou magnify thyself, My son, with a stranger? And embrace the bosom of a strange woman?

21 И бо пред очами Господа пути человека, и Он измеряет все стези его.

For over-against the eyes of Jehovah are the ways of each, And all his paths He is pondering.

22 Б еззаконного уловляют собственные беззакония его, и в узах греха своего он содержится:

His own iniquities do capture the wicked, And with the ropes of his sin he is holden.

23 о н умирает без наставления, и от множества безумия своего теряется.

He dieth without instruction, And in the abundance of his folly magnifieth himself!
