1 В четвертый год Иоакима, сына Иосии, царя Иудейского, было такое слово к Иеремии от Господа:

And it cometh to pass, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:

2 в озьми себе книжный свиток и напиши в нем все слова, которые Я говорил тебе об Израиле и об Иуде и о всех народах с того дня, как Я начал говорить тебе, от дней Иосии до сего дня;

`Take to thee a roll of a book, and thou hast written on it all the words that I have spoken unto thee concerning Israel, and concerning Judah, and concerning all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day;

3 м ожет быть, дом Иудин услышит о всех бедствиях, какие Я помышляю сделать им, чтобы они обратились каждый от злого пути своего, чтобы Я простил неправду их и грех их.

if so be the house of Israel do hear all the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, so that they turn back each from is evil way, and I have been propitious to their iniquity, and to their sin.'

4 И призвал Иеремия Варуха, сына Нирии, и написал Варух в книжный свиток из уст Иеремии все слова Господа, которые Он говорил ему.

And Jeremiah calleth Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch writeth from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Jehovah, that He hath spoken unto him, on a roll of a book.

5 И приказал Иеремия Варуху и сказал: я заключен и не могу идти в дом Господень;

And Jeremiah commandeth Baruch, saying, `I am restrained, I am not able to enter the house of Jehovah;

6 и так иди ты и прочитай написанные тобою в свитке с уст моих слова Господни вслух народа в доме Господнем в день поста, также и вслух всех Иудеев, пришедших из городов своих, прочитай их;

but thou hast entered -- and thou hast read in the roll that thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Jehovah, in the ears of the people, in the house of Jehovah, in the day of the fast, and also in the ears of all Judah who are coming in from their cities thou dost read them;

7 м ожет быть, они вознесут смиренное моление пред лице Господа и обратятся каждый от злого пути своего; ибо велик гнев и негодование, которое объявил Господь на народ сей.

if so be their supplication doth fall before Jehovah, and they turn back each from his evil way, for great the anger and the fury that Jehovah hath spoken concerning this people.'

8 В арух, сын Нирии, сделал все, что приказал ему пророк Иеремия, чтобы слова Господни, написанные в свитке, прочитать в доме Господнем.

And Baruch son of Neriah doth according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, to read in the book the words of Jehovah in the house of Jehovah.

9 В пятый год Иоакима, сына Иосии, царя Иудейского, в девятом месяце объявили пост пред лицем Господа всему народу в Иерусалиме и всему народу, пришедшему в Иерусалим из городов Иудейских.

And it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, proclaimed a fast before Jehovah have all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who are coming in from cities of Judah to Jerusalem;

10 И прочитал Варух написанные в свитке слова Иеремии в доме Господнем, в комнате Гемарии, сына Сафанова, писца, на верхнем дворе, у входа в новые ворота дома Господня, вслух всего народа.

and Baruch readeth in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah, in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the opening of the new gate of the house of Jehovah, in the ears of all the people.

11 М ихей, сын Гемарии, сына Сафанова, слышал все слова Господни, в свитке,

And Michaiah son of Gemariah, son of Shaphan, heareth all the words of Jehovah from off the book,

12 и сошел в дом царя, в комнату царского писца, и вот, там сидели все князья: Елисам, царский писец, и Делаия, сын Семаия, и Елнафан, сын Ахбора, и Гемария, сын Сафана, и Седекия, сын Анании, и все князья;

and he goeth down the house of the king, unto the chamber of the scribe, and lo, there are all the heads sitting: Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan son of Acbor, and Gemariah son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the heads.

13 и пересказал им Михей все слова, которые он слышал, когда Варух читал свиток вслух народа.

And declare to them doth Micaiah all the words that he hath heard, when Baruch readeth in the book in the ears of the people;

14 Т огда все князья послали к Варуху Иегудия, сына Нафании, сына Селемии, сына Хусии, сказать ему: свиток, который ты читал вслух народа, возьми в руку твою и приди. И взял Варух, сын Нирии, свиток в руку свою и пришел к ним.

and all the heads send unto Baruch, Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, `The roll in which thou hast read in the ears of the people take in thy hand, and come.' And Baruch son of Neriah taketh the roll in his hand and cometh in unto them,

15 О ни сказали ему: сядь, и прочитай нам вслух. И прочитал Варух вслух им.

and they say unto him, `Sit down, we pray thee, and read it in our ears,' and Baruch readeth in their ears,

16 К огда они выслушали все слова, то с ужасом посмотрели друг на друга и сказали Варуху: мы непременно перескажем все сии слова царю.

and it cometh to pass, when they hear all the words, they have been afraid one at another, and say unto Baruch, `We do surely declare to the king all these words.'

17 И спросили Варуха: скажи же нам, как ты написал все слова сии из уст его?

And they asked Baruch, saying, `Declare, we pray thee, to us, how didst thou write all these words -- from his mouth?'

18 И сказал им Варух: он произносил мне устами своими все сии слова, а я чернилами писал их в этот свиток.

And Baruch saith to them, `From his mouth, he pronounceth unto me all these words, and I am writing on the book with ink.'

19 Т огда сказали князья Варуху: пойди, скройся, ты и Иеремия, чтобы никто не знал, где вы.

And the heads say unto Baruch, `Go, be hidden, thou and Jeremiah, and let no one know where ye.'

20 И пошли они к царю во дворец, а свиток оставили в комнате Елисама, царского писца, и пересказали вслух царя все слова сии.

And they go in unto the king, to the court, and the roll they have laid up in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and they declare in the ears of the king all the words.

21 Ц арь послал Иегудия принести свиток, и он взял его из комнаты Елисама, царского писца; и читал его Иегудий вслух царя и вслух всех князей, стоявших подле царя.

And the king sendeth Jehudi to take the roll, and he taketh it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and Jehudi readeth it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the heads who are standing by the king;

22 Ц арь в то время, в девятом месяце, сидел в зимнем доме, и перед ним горела жаровня.

and the king is sitting in the winter-house, in the ninth month, and the stove before him is burning,

23 К огда Иегудий прочитывал три или четыре столбца, отрезывал их писцовым ножичком и бросал на огонь в жаровне, доколе не уничтожен был весь свиток на огне, который был в жаровне.

and it cometh to pass, when Jehudi readeth three or four leaves, he cutteth it out with the scribe's knife, and hath cast unto the fire, that on the stove, till the consumption of all the roll by the fire that on the stove.

24 И не убоялись, и не разодрали одежд своих ни царь, ни все слуги его, слышавшие все слова сии.

And the king and all his servants who are hearing all these words have not been afraid, nor rent their garments.

25 Х отя Елнафан и Делаия и Гемария упрашивали царя не сожигать свитка, но он не послушал их.

And also Elnathan, and Delaiah, and Gemariah have interceded with the king not to burn the roll, and he hath not hearkened unto them.

26 И приказал царь Иерамеилу, сыну царя, и Сераии, сыну Азриилову, и Селемии, сыну Авдиилову, взять Варуха писца и Иеремию пророка; но Господь сокрыл их.

And the king commandeth Jerahmeel son of Hammelek, and Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Jehovah doth hide them.

27 И было слово Господне к Иеремии, после того как царь сожег свиток и слова, которые Варух написал из уст Иеремии, и сказано ему:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah -- after the king's burning the roll, even the words that Baruch hath written from the mouth of Jeremiah -- saying:

28 в озьми себе опять другой свиток и напиши в нем все прежние слова, какие были в первом свитке, который сожег Иоаким, царь Иудейский;

`Turn, take to thee another roll, and write on it all the former words that were on the first roll, that Jehoiakim king of Judah burnt,

29 а царю Иудейскому Иоакиму скажи: так говорит Господь: ты сожег свиток сей, сказав: 'зачем ты написал в нем: непременно придет царь Вавилонский и разорит землю сию, и истребит на ней людей и скот?'

and unto Jehoiakim king of Judah thou dost say: Thus said Jehovah, Thou hast burnt this roll, saying, Wherefore hast thou written on it, saying, The king of Babylon surely cometh in, and hath destroyed this land, and caused to cease from it man and beast?

30 з а это, так говорит Господь об Иоакиме, царе Иудейском: не будет от него сидящего на престоле Давидовом, и труп его будет брошен на зной дневной и на холод ночной;

`Therefore, thus said Jehovah, concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He hath none sitting on the throne of David, and his carcase is cast out to heat by day, and to cold by night;

31 и посещу его и племя его и слуг его за неправду их, и наведу на них и на жителей Иерусалима и на мужей Иуды все зло, которое Я изрек на них, а они не слушали.

and I have charged on him, and on his seed, and on his servants, their iniquity; and I have brought in on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto the men of Judah, all the evil that I have spoken unto them, and they hearkened not.'

32 И взял Иеремия другой свиток и отдал его Варуху писцу, сыну Нирии, и он написал в нем из уст Иеремии все слова того свитка, который сожег Иоаким, царь Иудейский, на огне; и еще прибавлено к ним много подобных тем слов.

And Jeremiah hath taken another roll, and giveth it unto Baruch son of Neriah the scribe, and he writeth on it from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah hath burnt in the fire; and again there were added unto them many words like these.
