1 Н о Сара, жена Аврамова, не рождала ему. У ней была служанка Египтянка, именем Агарь.

And Sarai, Abram's wife, hath not borne to him, and she hath an handmaid, an Egyptian, and her name Hagar;

2 И сказала Сара Авраму: вот, Господь заключил чрево мое, чтобы мне не рождать; войди же к служанке моей: может быть, я буду иметь детей от нее. Аврам послушался слов Сары.

and Sarai saith unto Abram, `Lo, I pray thee, Jehovah hath restrained me from bearing, go in, I pray thee, unto my handmaid; perhaps I am built up from her;' and Abram hearkeneth to the voice of Sarai.

3 И взяла Сара, жена Аврамова, служанку свою, Египтянку Агарь, по истечении десяти лет пребывания Аврамова в земле Ханаанской, и дала ее Авраму, мужу своему, в жену.

And Sarai, Abram's wife, taketh Hagar the Egyptian, her handmaid, at the end of the tenth year of Abram's dwelling in the land of Canaan, and giveth her to Abram her husband, to him for a wife,

4 О н вошел к Агари, и она зачала. Увидев же, что зачала, она стала презирать госпожу свою.

and he goeth in unto Hagar, and she conceiveth, and she seeth that she hath conceived, and her mistress is lightly esteemed in her eyes.

5 И сказала Сара Авраму: в обиде моей ты виновен; я отдала служанку мою в недро твое; а она, увидев, что зачала, стала презирать меня; Господь пусть будет судьею между мною и между тобою.

And Sarai saith unto Abram, `My violence for thee; I -- I have given mine handmaid into thy bosom, and she seeth that she hath conceived, and I am lightly esteemed in her eyes; Jehovah doth judge between me and thee.'

6 А врам сказал Саре: вот, служанка твоя в твоих руках; делай с нею, что тебе угодно. И Сара стала притеснять ее, и она убежала от нее.

And Abram saith unto Sarai, `Lo, thine handmaid in thine hand, do to her that which is good in thine eyes;' and Sarai afflicted her, and she fleeth from her presence.

7 И нашел ее Ангел Господень у источника воды в пустыне, у источника на дороге к Суру.

And a messenger of Jehovah findeth her by the fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way Shur,

8 И сказал ей: Агарь, служанка Сарина! откуда ты пришла и куда идешь? Она сказала: я бегу от лица Сары, госпожи моей.

and he saith, `Hagar, Sarai's handmaid, whence hast thou come, and whither dost thou go?' and she saith, `From the presence of Sarai, my mistress, I am fleeing.'

9 А нгел Господень сказал ей: возвратись к госпоже своей и покорись ей.

And the messenger of Jehovah saith to her, `Turn back unto thy mistress, and humble thyself under her hands;'

10 И сказал ей Ангел Господень: умножая умножу потомство твое, так что нельзя будет и счесть его от множества.

and the messenger of Jehovah saith to her, `Multiplying I multiply thy seed, and it is not numbered from multitude;'

11 И еще сказал ей Ангел Господень: вот, ты беременна, и родишь сына, и наречешь ему имя Измаил, ибо услышал Господь страдание твое;

and the messenger of Jehovah saith to her, `Behold thou conceiving, and bearing a son, and hast called his name Ishmael, for Jehovah hath hearkened unto thine affliction;

12 о н будет людьми, дикий осел; руки его на всех, и руки всех на него; жить будет он пред лицем всех братьев своих.

and he is a wild-ass man, his hand against every one, and every one's hand against him -- and before the face of all his brethren he dwelleth.'

13 И нарекла Господа, Который говорил к ней, именем: Ты Бог видящий меня. Ибо сказала она: точно я видела здесь в след видящего меня.

And she calleth the name of Jehovah who is speaking unto her, `Thou, O God, my beholder;' for she said, `Even here have I looked behind my beholder?'

14 П осему источник называется: Беэр-лахай-рои. Он находится между Кадесом и между Баредом.

therefore hath one called the well, `The well of the Living One, my beholder;' lo, between Kadesh and Bered.

15 А гарь родила Авраму сына; и нарек имя сыну своему, рожденному от Агари: Измаил.

And Hagar beareth to Abram a son; and Abram calleth the name of his son, whom Hagar hath borne, Ishmael;

16 А врам был восьмидесяти шести лет, когда Агарь родила Авраму Измаила.

and Abram a son of eighty and six years in Hagar's bearing Ishmael to Abram.
