1 E se mismo día salió Jesús de la casa y se sentó a la orilla del mar.

And in that day Jesus, having gone forth from the house, was sitting by the sea,

2 Y se congregaron junto a El grandes multitudes, por lo que subió a una barca y se sentó; y toda la multitud estaba de pie en la playa. Parábola del sembrador

and gathered together unto him were many multitudes, so that he having gone into the boat did sit down, and all the multitude on the beach did stand,

3 Y les habló muchas cosas en parábolas, diciendo: He aquí, el sembrador salió a sembrar;

and he spake to them many things in similes, saying: `Lo, the sower went forth to sow,

4 y al sembrar, parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino, y vinieron las aves y se la comieron.

and in his sowing, some indeed fell by the way, and the fowls did come and devour them,

5 O tra parte cayó en pedregales donde no tenía mucha tierra; y enseguida brotó porque no tenía profundidad de tierra;

and others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth, and immediately they sprang forth, through not having depth of earth,

6 p ero cuando salió el sol, se quemó; y porque no tenía raíz, se secó.

and the sun having risen they were scorched, and through not having root, they withered,

7 O tra parte cayó entre espinos; y los espinos crecieron y la ahogaron.

and others fell upon the thorns, and the thorns did come up and choke them,

8 Y otra parte cayó en tierra buena y dio fruto, algunas semillas a ciento por uno, otras a sesenta y otras a treinta.

and others fell upon the good ground, and were giving fruit, some indeed a hundredfold, and some sixty, and some thirty.

9 E l que tiene oídos, que oiga. Propósito de las parábolas

He who is having ears to hear -- let him hear.'

10 Y acercándose los discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Por qué les hablas en parábolas?

And the disciples having come near, said to him, `Wherefore in similes dost thou speak to them?'

11 Y respondiendo El, les dijo: Porque a vosotros se os ha concedido conocer los misterios del reino de los cielos, pero a ellos no se les ha concedido.

And he answering said to them that -- `To you it hath been given to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, and to these it hath not been given,

12 P orque a cualquiera que tiene, se le dará más, y tendrá en abundancia; pero a cualquiera que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará.

for whoever hath, it shall be given to him, and he shall have overabundance, and whoever hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken from him.

13 P or eso les hablo en parábolas; porque viendo no ven, y oyendo no oyen ni entienden.

`Because of this, in similes do I speak to them, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor understand,

14 Y en ellos se cumple la profecía de Isaías que dice: “ Al oir oireis, y no entendereis; y viendo vereis, y no percibireis;

and fulfilled on them is the prophecy of Isaiah, that saith, With hearing ye shall hear, and ye shall not understand, and seeing ye shall see, and ye shall not perceive,

15 p orque el corazon de este pueblo se ha vuelto insensible y con dificultad oyen con sus oidos; y sus ojos han cerrado, no sea que vean con los ojos, y oigan con los oidos, y entiendan con el corazon, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.”

for made gross was the heart of this people, and with the ears they heard heavily, and their eyes they did close, lest they might see with the eyes, and with the ears might hear, and with the heart understand, and turn back, and I might heal them.

16 P ero dichosos vuestros ojos, porque ven, y vuestros oídos, porque oyen.

`And happy are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear,

17 P orque en verdad os digo que muchos profetas y justos desearon ver lo que vosotros veis, y no lo vieron; y oír lo que vosotros oís, y no lo oyeron. Explicación de la parábola del sembrador

for verily I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men did desire to see that which ye look on, and they did not see, and to hear that which ye hear, and they did not hear.

18 V osotros, pues, escuchad la parábola del sembrador.

`Ye, therefore, hear ye the simile of the sower:

19 A todo el que oye la palabra del reino y no la entiende, el maligno viene y arrebata lo que fue sembrado en su corazón. Este es aquel en quien se sembró la semilla junto al camino.

Every one hearing the word of the reign, and not understanding -- the evil one doth come, and doth catch that which hath been sown in his heart; this is that sown by the way.

20 Y aquel en quien se sembró la semilla en pedregales, éste es el que oye la palabra y enseguida la recibe con gozo;

`And that sown on the rocky places, this is he who is hearing the word, and immediately with joy is receiving it,

21 p ero no tiene raíz profunda en sí mismo, sino que sólo es temporal, y cuando por causa de la palabra viene la aflicción o la persecución, enseguida tropieza y cae.

and he hath not root in himself, but is temporary, and persecution or tribulation having happened because of the word, immediately he is stumbled.

22 Y aquel en quien se sembró la semilla entre espinos, éste es el que oye la palabra, mas las preocupaciones del mundo y el engaño de las riquezas ahogan la palabra, y se queda sin fruto.

`And that sown toward the thorns, this is he who is hearing the word, and the anxiety of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, do choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

23 P ero aquel en quien se sembró la semilla en tierra buena, éste es el que oye la palabra y la entiende, éste sí da fruto y produce, uno a ciento, otro a sesenta y otro a treinta. Parábola del trigo y la cizaña

`And that sown on the good ground: this is he who is hearing the word, and is understanding, who indeed doth bear fruit, and doth make, some indeed a hundredfold, and some sixty, and some thirty.'

24 J esús les refirió otra parábola, diciendo: El reino de los cielos puede compararse a un hombre que sembró buena semilla en su campo.

Another simile he set before them, saying: `The reign of the heavens was likened to a man sowing good seed in his field,

25 P ero mientras los hombres dormían, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña entre el trigo, y se fue.

and, while men are sleeping, his enemy came and sowed darnel in the midst of the wheat, and went away,

26 C uando el trigo brotó y produjo grano, entonces apareció también la cizaña.

and when the herb sprang up, and yielded fruit, then appeared also the darnel.

27 Y los siervos del dueño fueron y le dijeron: “Señor, ¿no sembraste buena semilla en tu campo? ¿Cómo, pues, tiene cizaña?”

`And the servants of the householder, having come near, said to him, Sir, good seed didst thou not sow in thy field? whence then hath it the darnel?

28 E l les dijo: “Un enemigo ha hecho esto”. Y los siervos le dijeron: “¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la recojamos?”

And he saith to them, A man, an enemy, did this; and the servants said to him, Wilt thou, then, having gone away we may gather it up?

29 P ero él dijo: “No, no sea que al recoger la cizaña, arranquéis el trigo junto con ella.

`And he said, No, lest -- gathering up the darnel -- ye root up with it the wheat,

30 “ Dejad que ambos crezcan juntos hasta la siega; y al tiempo de la siega diré a los segadores: ‘Recoged primero la cizaña y atadla en manojos para quemarla, pero el trigo recogedlo en mi granero.’” Parábola del grano de mostaza

suffer both to grow together till the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the darnel, and bind it in bundles, to burn it, and the wheat gather up into my storehouse.'

31 L es refirió otra parábola, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante a un grano de mostaza, que un hombre tomó y sembró en su campo,

Another simile he set before them, saying: `The reign of the heavens is like to a grain of mustard, which a man having taken, did sow in his field,

32 y que de todas las semillas es la más pequeña; pero cuando ha crecido, es la mayor de las hortalizas, y se hace árbol, de modo que las aves del cielo vienen y anidan en sus ramas. Parábola de la levadura

which less, indeed, is than all the seeds, but when it may be grown, is greatest of the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven do come and rest in its branches.'

33 L es dijo otra parábola: El reino de los cielos es semejante a la levadura que una mujer tomó y escondió en tres medidas de harina hasta que todo quedó fermentado.

Another simile spake he to them: `The reign of the heavens is like to leaven, which a woman having taken, hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.'

34 T odo esto habló Jesús en parábolas a las multitudes, y nada les hablaba sin parábola,

All these things spake Jesus in similes to the multitudes, and without a simile he was not speaking to them,

35 p ara que se cumpliera lo dicho por medio del profeta, cuando dijo: Abrire mi boca en parabolas; hablare de cosas ocultas desde la fundacion del mundo. Explicación de la parábola del trigo y la cizaña

that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through the prophet, saying, `I will open in similes my mouth, I will utter things having been hidden from the foundation of the world.'

36 E ntonces dejó a la multitud y entró en la casa. Y se le acercaron sus discípulos, diciendo: Explícanos la parábola de la cizaña del campo.

Then having let away the multitudes, Jesus came to the house, and his disciples came near to him, saying, `Explain to us the simile of the darnel of the field.'

37 Y respondiendo El, dijo: El que siembra la buena semilla es el Hijo del Hombre,

And he answering said to them, `He who is sowing the good seed is the Son of Man,

38 y el campo es el mundo; y la buena semilla son los hijos del reino, y la cizaña son los hijos del maligno;

and the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the reign, and the darnel are the sons of the evil one,

39 y el enemigo que la sembró es el diablo, y la siega es el fin del mundo, y los segadores son los ángeles.

and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is a full end of the age, and the reapers are messengers.

40 P or tanto, así como la cizaña se recoge y se quema en el fuego, de la misma manera será en el fin del mundo.

`As, then, the darnel is gathered up, and is burned with fire, so shall it be in the full end of this age,

41 E l Hijo del Hombre enviará a sus ángeles, y recogerán de su reino a todos los que son piedra de tropiezo y a los que hacen iniquidad;

the Son of Man shall send forth his messengers, and they shall gather up out of his kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those doing the unlawlessness,

42 y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes.

and shall cast them to the furnace of the fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

43 E ntonces los justos resplandeceran como el sol en el reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos, que oiga. Parábolas del tesoro escondido y la perla de gran valor

`Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the reign of their Father. He who is having ears to hear -- let him hear.

44 E l reino de los cielos es semejante a un tesoro escondido en el campo, que al encontrarlo un hombre, lo vuelve a esconder, y de alegría por ello, va, vende todo lo que tiene y compra aquel campo.

`Again, the reign of the heavens is like to treasure hid in the field, which a man having found did hide, and from his joy goeth, and all, as much as he hath, he selleth, and buyeth that field.

45 E l reino de los cielos también es semejante a un mercader que busca perlas finas,

`Again, the reign of the heavens is like to a man, a merchant, seeking goodly pearls,

46 y al encontrar una perla de gran valor, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía y la compró. Parábola de la red barredera

who having found one pearl of great price, having gone away, hath sold all, as much as he had, and bought it.

47 E l reino de los cielos también es semejante a una red barredera que se echó en el mar, y recogió peces de toda clase;

`Again, the reign of the heavens is like to a net that was cast into the sea, and did gather together of every kind,

48 y cuando se llenó, la sacaron a la playa; y se sentaron y recogieron los peces buenos en canastas, pero echaron fuera los malos.

which, when it was filled, having drawn up again upon the beach, and having sat down, they gathered the good into vessels, and the bad they did cast out,

49 A sí será en el fin del mundo; los ángeles saldrán, y sacarán a los malos de entre los justos,

so shall it be in the full end of the age, the messengers shall come forth and separate the evil out of the midst of the righteous,

50 y los arrojarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes. Parábola del dueño de casa

and shall cast them to the furnace of the fire, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.'

51 ¿ Habéis entendido todas estas cosas? Ellos le dijeron: Sí.

Jesus saith to them, `Did ye understand all these?' They say to him, `Yes, sir.'

52 Y El les dijo: Por eso todo escriba que se ha convertido en un discípulo del reino de los cielos es semejante al dueño de casa que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas. Jesús enseña en Nazaret

And he said to them, `Because of this every scribe having been discipled in regard to the reign of the heavens, is like to a man, a householder, who doth bring forth out of his treasure things new and old.'

53 Y sucedió que cuando Jesús terminó estas parábolas, se fue de allí.

And it came to pass, when Jesus finished these similes, he removed thence,

54 Y llegando a su pueblo, les enseñaba en su sinagoga, de tal manera que se maravillaban y decían: ¿Dónde obtuvo éste esta sabiduría y estos poderes milagrosos ?

and having come to his own country, he was teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and were saying, `Whence to this one this wisdom and the mighty works?

55 ¿ No es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos Jacobo, José, Simón y Judas?

is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

56 ¿ No están todas sus hermanas con nosotros? ¿Dónde, pues, obtuvo éste todas estas cosas?

and his sisters -- are they not all with us? whence, then, to this one all these?'

57 Y se escandalizaban a causa de El. Pero Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra, sino en su propia tierra y en su casa.

and they were stumbled at him. And Jesus said to them, `A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, and in his own house:'

58 Y no hizo muchos milagros allí a causa de la incredulidad de ellos.

and he did not there many mighty works, because of their unbelief.
