1 Y aconteció que al cabo de dos años, Faraón tuvo un sueño; y he aquí, soñó que estaba de pie junto al Nilo.

And it cometh to pass, at the end of two years of days that Pharaoh is dreaming, and lo, he is standing by the River,

2 Y de pronto, del Nilo subieron siete vacas de hermoso aspecto y gordas, y pacían en el carrizal.

and lo, from the River coming up are seven kine, of fair appearance, and fat flesh, and they feed among the reeds;

3 P ero he aquí, otras siete vacas de mal aspecto y flacas subieron del Nilo detrás de ellas, y se pararon junto a las otras vacas a la orilla del Nilo;

and lo, seven other kine are coming up after them out of the River, of bad appearance, and lean flesh, and they stand near the kine on the edge of the River,

4 y las vacas de mal aspecto y flacas devoraron las siete vacas de hermoso aspecto y gordas. Entonces Faraón despertó.

and the kine of bad appearance and lean flesh eat up the seven kine of fair appearance, and fat -- and Pharaoh awaketh.

5 S e quedó dormido y soñó por segunda vez; y he aquí que siete espigas llenas y buenas crecían en una sola caña.

And he sleepeth, and dreameth a second time, and lo, seven ears are coming up on one stalk, fat and good,

6 Y he aquí que siete espigas, menudas y quemadas por el viento solano, brotaron después de aquéllas.

and lo, seven ears, thin, and blasted with an east wind, are springing up after them;

7 Y las espigas menudas devoraron a las siete espigas gruesas y llenas. Entonces Faraón despertó, y he aquí, era un sueño.

and the thin ears swallow the seven fat and full ears -- and Pharaoh awaketh, and lo, a dream.

8 Y sucedió que por la mañana su espíritu estaba turbado, y mandó llamar a todos los adivinos de Egipto, y a todos sus sabios. Y Faraón les contó sus sueños, pero no hubo quien se los pudiera interpretar a Faraón.

And it cometh to pass in the morning, that his spirit is moved, and he sendeth and calleth all the scribes of Egypt, and all its wise men, and Pharaoh recounteth to them his dream, and there is no interpreter of them to Pharaoh.

9 E ntonces el jefe de los coperos habló a Faraón, diciendo: Quisiera hablar hoy de mis faltas.

And the chief of the butlers speaketh with Pharaoh, saying, `My sin I mention this day:

10 C uando Faraón se enojó con sus siervos y me puso bajo custodia en la casa del capitán de la guardia, a mí y al jefe de los panaderos,

Pharaoh hath been wroth against his servants, and giveth me into charge in the house of the chief of the executioners, me and the chief of the bakers;

11 é l y yo tuvimos un sueño en una misma noche; cada uno de nosotros soñó según la interpretación de su propio sueño.

and we dream a dream in one night, I and he, each according to the interpretation of his dream we have dreamed.

12 Y estaba allí con nosotros un joven hebreo, un siervo del capitán de la guardia; y se los contamos, y él nos interpretó los sueños. A cada uno interpretó su sueño.

And there with us a youth, a Hebrew, servant to the chief of the executioners, and we recount to him, and he interpreteth to us our dreams, each according to his dream hath he interpreted,

13 Y aconteció que tal como nos lo había interpretado, así sucedió; a mí me restableció Faraón en mi puesto, pero al otro lo ahorcó. José interpreta el sueño de Faraón

and it cometh to pass, as he hath interpreted to us so it hath been, me he put back on my station, and him he hanged.'

14 E ntonces Faraón mandó llamar a José, y lo sacaron aprisa del calabozo; y después de afeitarse y cambiarse sus vestidos, vino a Faraón.

And Pharaoh sendeth and calleth Joseph, and they cause him to run out of the pit, and he shaveth, and changeth his garments, and cometh in unto Pharaoh.

15 Y Faraón dijo a José: He tenido un sueño y no hay quien lo interprete; y he oído decir de ti, que oyes un sueño y lo puedes interpretar.

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `A dream I have dreamed, and there is no interpreter of it, and I -- I have heard concerning thee, saying, Thou understandest a dream to interpret it,'

16 J osé respondió a Faraón, diciendo: No está en mí; Dios dará a Faraón una respuesta favorable.

and Joseph answereth Pharaoh, saying, `Without me -- God doth answer Pharaoh with peace.'

17 E ntonces habló Faraón a José: En mi sueño, he aquí, yo estaba de pie a la orilla del Nilo.

And Pharaoh speaketh unto Joseph: `In my dream, lo, I am standing by the edge of the River,

18 Y vi siete vacas gordas y de hermoso aspecto que salieron del Nilo; y pacían en el carrizal.

and lo, out of the River coming up are seven kine, fat flesh, and of fair form, and they feed among the reeds;

19 P ero he aquí, otras siete vacas subieron detrás de ellas, pobres, de muy mal aspecto y flacas, de tal fealdad como yo nunca había visto en toda la tierra de Egipto.

and lo, seven other kine are coming up after them, thin, and of very bad form, and lean flesh; I have not seen like these in all the land of Egypt for badness.

20 Y las vacas flacas y feas devoraron las primeras siete vacas gordas.

`And the lean and the bad kine eat up the first seven fat kine,

21 P ero cuando las habían devorado, no se podía notar que las hubieran devorado; pues su aspecto era tan feo como al principio. Entonces me desperté.

and they come in unto their midst, and it hath not been known that they have come in unto their midst, and their appearance bad as at the commencement; and I awake.

22 Y he aquí, en mi sueño también vi que siete espigas llenas y buenas crecían en una sola caña.

`And I see in my dream, and lo, seven ears are coming up on one stalk, full and good;

23 Y he aquí que siete espigas marchitas, menudas y quemadas por el viento solano, brotaron después de aquéllas;

and lo, seven ears, withered, thin, blasted with an east wind, are springing up after them;

24 y las espigas menudas devoraron a las siete espigas buenas. Y se lo conté a los adivinos, pero no hubo quien me lo pudiera explicar.

and the thin ears swallow the seven good ears; and I tell unto the scribes, and there is none declaring to me.'

25 E ntonces José dijo a Faraón: Los dos sueños de Faraón son uno; Dios ha anunciado a Faraón lo que El va a hacer.

And Joseph saith unto Pharaoh, `The dream of Pharaoh is one: that which God is doing he hath declared to Pharaoh;

26 L as siete vacas buenas son siete años, y las siete espigas buenas son siete años; los dos sueños son uno.

the seven good kine are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years, the dream is one;

27 Y las siete vacas flacas y feas que subieron detrás de ellas son siete años, y las siete espigas quemadas por el viento solano serán siete años de hambre.

and the seven thin and bad kine which are coming up after them are seven years, and the seven empty ears, blasted with an east wind, are seven years of famine;

28 E sto es lo que he dicho a Faraón: Dios ha mostrado a Faraón lo que va a hacer.

this the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: That which God is doing, he hath shewn Pharaoh.

29 H e aquí, vienen siete años de gran abundancia en toda la tierra de Egipto;

`Lo, seven years are coming of great abundance in all the land of Egypt,

30 y después de ellos vendrán siete años de hambre, y será olvidada toda la abundancia en la tierra de Egipto; y el hambre asolará la tierra.

and seven years of famine have arisen after them, and all the plenty is forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine hath finished the land,

31 Y no se conocerá la abundancia en la tierra a causa del hambre que vendrá, que será muy severa.

and the plenty is not known in the land because of that famine afterwards, for it very grievous.

32 Y en cuanto a la repetición del sueño a Faraón dos veces, quiere decir que el asunto está determinado por Dios, y Dios lo hará pronto.

`And because of the repeating of the dream unto Pharaoh twice, surely the thing is established by God, and God is hastening to do it.

33 A hora pues, busque Faraón un hombre prudente y sabio, y póngalo sobre la tierra de Egipto.

`And now, let Pharaoh provide a man, intelligent and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt;

34 H aga esto Faraón: nombre intendentes sobre el país y exija un quinto de la producción de la tierra de Egipto en los siete años de abundancia.

let Pharaoh make and appoint overseers over the land, and receive a fifth of the land of Egypt in the seven years of plenty,

35 Y que ellos recojan todos los víveres de esos años buenos que vienen, y almacenen en las ciudades el grano para alimento bajo la autoridad de Faraón, y que lo protejan.

and they gather all the food of these good years that are coming, and heap up corn under the hand of Pharaoh -- food in the cities; and they have kept,

36 Y que los víveres sean una reserva para el país durante los siete años de hambre que ocurrirán en la tierra de Egipto, a fin de que el país no perezca durante el hambre. José gobernador de todo Egipto

and the food hath been for a store for the land, for the seven years of famine which are in the land of Egypt; and the land is cut off by the famine.'

37 Y la idea pareció bien a Faraón y a todos sus siervos.

And the thing is good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants,

38 E ntonces Faraón dijo a sus siervos: ¿Podemos hallar un hombre como éste, en quien esté el espíritu de Dios ?

and Pharaoh saith unto his servants, `Do we find like this, a man in whom the spirit of God ?'

39 Y Faraón dijo a José: Puesto que Dios te ha hecho saber todo esto, no hay nadie tan prudente ni tan sabio como tú.

and Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `After God's causing thee to know all this, there is none intelligent and wise as thou;

40 T ú estarás sobre mi casa, y todo mi pueblo obedecerá tus órdenes; solamente en el trono yo seré mayor que tú.

thou -- thou art over my house, and at thy mouth do all my people kiss; only in the throne I am greater than thou.'

41 F araón dijo también a José: Mira, te he puesto sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `See, I have put thee over all the land of Egypt.'

42 Y Faraón se quitó el anillo de sellar de su mano y lo puso en la mano de José; y lo vistió con vestiduras de lino fino y puso un collar de oro en su cuello.

And Pharaoh turneth aside his seal-ring from off his hand, and putteth it on the hand of Joseph, and clotheth him garments of fine linen, and placeth a chain of gold on his neck,

43 L o hizo montar en su segundo carro, y proclamaron delante de él: ¡Doblad la rodilla! Y lo puso sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.

and causeth him to ride in the second chariot which he hath, and they proclaim before him, `Bow the knee!' and -- to put him over all the land of Egypt.

44 E ntonces Faraón dijo a José: Aunque yo soy Faraón, sin embargo, nadie levantará su mano ni su pie sin tu permiso en toda la tierra de Egipto.

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `I Pharaoh, and without thee a man doth not lift up his hand and his foot in all the land of Egypt;'

45 Y Faraón llamó a José por el nombre de Zafnat-panea, y le dio por mujer a Asenat, hija de Potifera, sacerdote de On. Y salió José por toda la tierra de Egipto.

and Pharaoh calleth Joseph's name Zaphnath-Paaneah, and he giveth to him Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, for a wife, and Joseph goeth out over the land of Egypt.

46 J osé tenía treinta años cuando se presentó ante Faraón, rey de Egipto. Y salió José de la presencia de Faraón y recorrió toda la tierra de Egipto.

And Joseph a son of thirty years in his standing before Pharaoh king of Egypt, and Joseph goeth out from the presence of Pharaoh, and passeth over through all the land of Egypt;

47 Y produjo la tierra a manos llenas durante los siete años de abundancia.

and the land maketh in the seven years of plenty by handfuls.

48 Y él recogió todo el fruto de estos siete años de abundancia que hubo en la tierra de Egipto, y guardó el alimento en las ciudades; y guardó en cada ciudad el fruto de sus campos circunvecinos.

And he gathereth all the food of the seven years which have been in the land of Egypt, and putteth food in the cities; the food of the field which round about city hath he put in its midst;

49 A sí José almacenó grano en gran abundancia, como la arena del mar, hasta que dejó de medir lo porque no se podía medir.

and Joseph gathereth corn as sand of the sea, multiplying exceedingly, until that he hath ceased to number, for there is no number.

50 Y le nacieron a José dos hijos antes de que llegaran los años de hambre, los que le dio a luz Asenat, hija de Potifera, sacerdote de On.

And to Joseph were born two sons before the year of famine cometh, whom Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, hath borne to him,

51 Y al primogénito José le puso el nombre de Manasés, porque dijo: Dios me ha hecho olvidar todo mi trabajo y toda la casa de mi padre.

and Joseph calleth the name of the first-born Manasseh: `for, God hath made me to forget all my labour, and all the house of my father;'

52 Y al segundo le puso el nombre de Efraín, porque dijo: Dios me ha hecho fecundo en la tierra de mi aflicción. Los siete años de hambre

and the name of the second he hath called Ephraim: `for, God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of mine affliction.'

53 C uando pasaron los siete años de abundancia que había habido en la tierra de Egipto,

And the seven years of plenty are completed which have been in the land of Egypt,

54 y comenzaron a venir los siete años de hambre, tal como José había dicho, entonces hubo hambre en todas las tierras; pero en toda la tierra de Egipto había pan.

and the seven years of famine begin to come, as Joseph said, and famine is in all the lands, but in all the land of Egypt hath been bread;

55 C uando se sintió el hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto, el pueblo clamó a Faraón por pan; y Faraón dijo a todos los egipcios: Id a José, y haced lo que él os diga.

and all the land of Egypt is famished, and the people crieth unto Pharaoh for bread, and Pharaoh saith to all the Egyptians, `Go unto Joseph; that which he saith to you -- do.'

56 Y el hambre se extendió sobre toda la faz de la tierra. Entonces José abrió todos los graneros y vendió a los egipcios, pues el hambre era severa en la tierra de Egipto.

And the famine has been over all the face of the land, and Joseph openeth all which have in them, and selleth to the Egyptians; and the famine is severe in the land of Egypt,

57 Y de todos los países venían a Egipto para comprar grano a José, porque el hambre era severa en toda la tierra.

and all the earth hath come to Egypt, to buy, unto Joseph, for the famine was severe in all the earth.
