1 E l arca del Señor estuvo en la tierra de los filisteos siete meses.

And the ark of Jehovah is in the field of the Philistines seven months,

2 E ntonces los filisteos llamaron a los sacerdotes y a los adivinos, diciendo: ¿Qué haremos con el arca del Señor ? Decidnos cómo la hemos de enviar a su lugar.

and the Philistines call for priests and for diviners, saying, `What do we do to the ark of Jehovah? let us know wherewith we send it to its place?'

3 Y ellos dijeron: Si enviáis el arca del Dios de Israel, no la enviéis vacía; sino que ciertamente devolveréis a El una ofrenda por la culpa. Entonces seréis sanados y conoceréis por qué su mano no se ha apartado de vosotros.

And they say, `If ye are sending away the ark of the God of Israel, ye do not send it away empty; for ye do certainly send back to Him a guilt-offering; then ye are healed, and it hath been known to you why His hand doth not turn aside from you.'

4 Y los filisteos preguntaron: ¿Cuál será la ofrenda por la culpa que hemos de devolverle? Y ellos dijeron: Cinco tumores de oro y cinco ratones de oro conforme al número de los príncipes de los filisteos, porque la misma plaga estuvo sobre todos vosotros y sobre vuestros príncipes.

And they say, `What the guilt-offering which we send back to Him?' and they say, `The number of the princes of the Philistines -- five golden emerods, and five golden mice -- for one plague to you all, and to your princes,

5 H aréis, pues, semejanzas de vuestros tumores, y semejanzas de vuestros ratones que asolan la tierra, y daréis gloria al Dios de Israel; quizá El aliviará su mano de sobre vosotros, de sobre vuestros dioses y de sobre vuestra tierra.

and ye have made images of your emerods, and images of your mice that are corrupting the land, and have given honour to the God of Israel; it may be He doth lighten His hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land;

6 ¿ Por qué entonces endurecéis vuestros corazones, como endurecieron sus corazones los egipcios y Faraón ? Cuando El los trató severamente, ¿no dejaron ir al pueblo, y se fueron ?

and why do ye harden your heart as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their heart? do they not -- when He hath rolled Himself upon them -- send them away, and they go?

7 A hora pues, tomad y preparad un carro nuevo y dos vacas con crías sobre las cuales no se haya puesto yugo; uncid las vacas al carro y llevad sus becerros a casa, lejos de ellas.

`And now, take and make one new cart, and two suckling kine, on which a yoke hath not gone up, and ye have bound the kine in the cart, and caused their young ones to turn back from after them to the house,

8 Y tomad el arca del Señor y colocadla en el carro; y poned en una caja a su lado los objetos de oro que le entregaréis como ofrenda por la culpa. Luego, dejadla ir, y que se vaya.

and ye have taken the ark of Jehovah, and put it on the cart, and the vessels of gold which ye have returned to Him -- a guilt-offering -- ye put in a coffer on its side, and have sent it away, and it hath gone;

9 Y observad: si sube por el camino de su territorio a Bet-semes, entonces El nos ha hecho este gran mal. Pero si no, entonces sabremos que no fue su mano la que nos hirió; nos sucedió por casualidad.

and ye have seen, if the way of its own border it goeth up to Beth-Shemesh -- He hath done to us this great evil; and if not, then we have known that His hand hath not come against us; an accident it hath been to us.'

10 E ntonces los hombres lo hicieron así; tomaron dos vacas con crías, las uncieron al carro y encerraron sus becerros en casa.

And the men do so, and take two suckling kine, and bind them in the cart, and their young ones they have shut up in the house;

11 C olocaron el arca del Señor en el carro, y la caja con los ratones de oro y las semejanzas de sus tumores.

and they place the ark of Jehovah upon the cart, and the coffer, and the golden mice, and the images of their emerods.

12 Y las vacas tomaron el camino recto en dirección a Bet-semes; iban por el camino, mugiendo mientras iban, y no se desviaron ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda. Y los príncipes de los filisteos las siguieron hasta el límite de Bet-semes.

And the kine go straight in the way, on the way to Beth-Shemesh, in one highway they have gone, going and lowing, and have not turned aside right or left; and the princes of the Philistines are going after them unto the border of Beth-Shemesh.

13 E l pueblo de Bet-semes estaba segando el trigo en el valle, y alzaron sus ojos y vieron el arca, y se alegraron al ver la.

And the Beth-Shemeshites are reaping their wheat-harvest in the valley, and they lift up their eyes, and see the ark, and rejoice to see.

14 Y el carro llegó al campo de Josué el bet-semita y se detuvo allí donde había una gran piedra; y ellos partieron la madera del carro y ofrecieron las vacas en holocausto al Señor.

And the cart hath come in unto the field of Joshua the Beth-Shemeshite, and standeth there, and there a great stone, and they cleave the wood of the cart, and the kine they have caused to ascend -- a burnt-offering to Jehovah.

15 L os levitas bajaron el arca del Señor y la caja que estaba con ella, en la cual estaban los objetos de oro, y las colocaron sobre la gran piedra; y los hombres de Bet-semes ofrecieron holocaustos e hicieron sacrificios aquel día al Señor.

And the Levites have taken down the ark of Jehovah, and the coffer which with it, in which the vessels of gold, and place on the great stone; and the men of Beth-Shemesh have caused to ascend burnt-offerings and sacrifice sacrifices in that day to Jehovah;

16 C uando los cinco príncipes de los filisteos vieron esto, regresaron a Ecrón el mismo día.

and the five princes of the Philistines have seen, and turn back Ekron, on that day.

17 E stos son los tumores de oro que los filisteos entregaron como ofrenda por la culpa al Señor: uno por Asdod, uno por Gaza, uno por Ascalón, uno por Gat y uno por Ecrón;

And these the golden emerods which the Philistines have sent back -- a guilt-offering to Jehovah: for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;

18 y ratones de oro conforme al número de todas las ciudades de los filisteos que pertenecían a los cinco príncipes, tanto de ciudades fortificadas como de aldeas sin murallas. La gran piedra sobre la cual colocaron el arca del Señor es testigo hasta el día de hoy en el campo de Josué el bet-semita.

and the golden mice -- the number of all the cities of the Philistines -- for the five princes, from the fenced city even unto the hamlet of the villages, even unto the great meadow on which they placed the ark of Jehovah -- unto this day in the field of Joshua the Beth-Shemeshite.

19 E l Señor hirió a los hombres de Bet-semes porque habían mirado dentro del arca del Señor. De todo el pueblo hirió a cincuenta mil setenta hombres, y el pueblo lloró porque el Señor había herido al pueblo con gran mortandad.

And He smiteth among the men of Beth-Shemesh, for they looked into the ark of Jehovah, yea, He smiteth among the people seventy men -- fifty chief men; and the people mourn, because Jehovah smote among the people -- a great smiting.

20 Y los hombres de Bet-semes dijeron: ¿Quién puede estar delante del Señor, este Dios santo ? ¿Y a quién subirá al alejarse de nosotros?

And the men of Beth-Shemesh say, `Who is able to stand before Jehovah, this holy God? and unto whom doth He go up from us?'

21 Y enviaron mensajeros a los habitantes de Quiriat-jearim, diciendo: Los filisteos han devuelto el arca del Señor; descended, y subidla con vosotros.

And they send messengers unto the inhabitants of Kirjath-Jearim, saying, `The Philistines have sent back the ark of Jehovah; come down, take it up unto you.'
