1 E n el año primero de Darío, hijo de Asuero, descendiente de los medos, que fue constituido rey sobre el reino de los caldeos,

In the first year of Darius, son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who hath been made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans,

2 e n el año primero de su reinado, yo, Daniel, pude entender en los libros el número de los años en que, por palabra del Señor que fue revelada al profeta Jeremías, debían cumplirse las desolaciones de Jerusalén: setenta años.

in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, have understood by books the number of the years, (in that a word of Jehovah hath been unto Jeremiah the prophet,) concerning the fulfilling of the wastes of Jerusalem -- seventy years;

3 V olví mi rostro a Dios el Señor para buscar le en oración y súplicas, en ayuno, cilicio y ceniza.

and I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.

4 Y oré al Señor mi Dios e hice confesión y dije: Ay, Señor, el Dios grande y temible, que guarda el pacto y la misericordia para los que le aman y guardan sus mandamientos,

And I pray to Jehovah my God, and confess, and say: `I beseech Thee, O Lord God, the great and the fearful, keeping the covenant and the kindness to those loving Him, and to those keeping His commands;

5 h emos pecado, hemos cometido iniquidad, hemos hecho lo malo, nos hemos rebelado y nos hemos apartado de tus mandamientos y de tus ordenanzas.

we have sinned, and done perversely, and done wickedly, and rebelled, to turn aside from Thy commands, and from Thy judgments:

6 N o hemos escuchado a tus siervos los profetas que hablaron en tu nombre a nuestros reyes, a nuestros príncipes, a nuestros padres y a todo el pueblo de la tierra.

and we have not hearkened unto Thy servants, the prophets, who have spoken in Thy name unto our kings, our heads, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7 T uya es la justicia, oh Señor, y nuestra la vergüenza en el rostro, como sucede hoy a los hombres de Judá, a los habitantes de Jerusalén y a todo Israel, a los que están cerca y a los que están lejos en todos los países adonde los has echado, a causa de las infidelidades que cometieron contra ti.

`To Thee, O Lord, the righteousness, and to us the shame of face, as this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off, in all the lands whither Thou hast driven them, in their trespass that they have trespassed against Thee.

8 O h Señor, nuestra es la vergüenza del rostro, y de nuestros reyes, de nuestros príncipes y de nuestros padres, porque hemos pecado contra ti.

`O Lord, to us the shame of face, to our kings, to our heads, and to our fathers, in that we have sinned against Thee.

9 A l Señor nuestro Dios pertenece la compasión y el perdón, porque nos hemos rebelado contra El,

`To the Lord our God the mercies and the forgivenesses, for we have rebelled against Him,

10 y no hemos obedecido la voz del Señor nuestro Dios para andar en sus enseñanzas, que El puso delante de nosotros por medio de sus siervos los profetas.

and have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in His laws, that He hath set before us by the hand of His servants the prophets;

11 C iertamente todo Israel ha transgredido tu ley y se ha apartado, sin querer obedecer tu voz; por eso ha sido derramada sobre nosotros la maldición y el juramento que está escrito en la ley de Moisés, siervo de Dios, porque hemos pecado contra El.

and all Israel have transgressed Thy law, to turn aside so as not to hearken to Thy voice; and poured on us is the execration, and the oath, that is written in the law of Moses, servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.

12 Y El ha confirmado las palabras que habló contra nosotros y contra nuestros jefes que nos gobernaron, trayendo sobre nosotros gran calamidad, pues nunca se ha hecho debajo del cielo nada como lo que se ha hecho contra Jerusalén.

`And He confirmeth His words that He hath spoken against us, and against our judges who have judged us, to bring in upon us great evil, in that it hath not been done under the whole heavens as it hath been done in Jerusalem,

13 C omo está escrito en la ley de Moisés, toda esta calamidad ha venido sobre nosotros, pero no hemos buscado el favor del Señor nuestro Dios, apartándonos de nuestra iniquidad y prestando atención a tu verdad.

as it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil hath come upon us, and we have not appeased the face of Jehovah our God to turn back from our iniquities, and to act wisely in Thy truth.

14 P or tanto, el Señor ha estado guardando esta calamidad y la ha traído sobre nosotros; porque el Señor nuestro Dios es justo en todas las obras que ha hecho, pero nosotros no hemos obedecido su voz.

And Jehovah doth watch for the evil, and bringeth it upon us, for righteous Jehovah our God concerning all His works that He hath done, and we have not hearkened to His voice.

15 Y ahora, Señor Dios nuestro, que sacaste a tu pueblo de la tierra de Egipto con mano poderosa, y te has hecho un nombre, como hoy se ve, hemos pecado, hemos sido malos.

And now, O Lord our God, who hast brought forth Thy people from the land of Egypt by a strong hand, and dost make for Thee a name as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16 O h Señor, conforme a todos tus actos de justicia, apártese ahora tu ira y tu furor de tu ciudad, Jerusalén, tu santo monte; porque a causa de nuestros pecados y de las iniquidades de nuestros padres, Jerusalén y tu pueblo son el oprobio de todos los que nos rodean.

`O Lord, according to all Thy righteous acts, let turn back, I pray Thee, Thine anger and Thy fury from Thy city Jerusalem, Thy holy mount, for by our sins, and by the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Thy people for a reproach to all our neighbours;

17 Y ahora, Dios nuestro, escucha la oración de tu siervo y sus súplicas, y haz resplandecer tu rostro sobre tu santuario desolado, por amor de ti mismo, oh Señor.

and now, hearken, O our God, unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto his supplication, and cause Thy face to shine on Thy sanctuary that desolate, for the Lord's sake.

18 I nclina tu oído, Dios mío, y escucha. Abre tus ojos y mira nuestras desolaciones y la ciudad sobre la cual se invoca tu nombre; pues no es por nuestros propios méritos que presentamos nuestras súplicas delante de ti, sino por tu gran compasión.

`Incline, O my God, Thine ear, and hear, open Thine eyes and see our desolations, and the city on which Thy name is called; for not for our righteous acts are we causing our supplications to fall before Thee, but for Thy mercies that many.

19 ¡ Oh Señor, escucha! ¡Señor, perdona! ¡Señor, atiende y actúa! ¡No tardes, por amor de ti mismo, Dios mío! Porque tu nombre se invoca sobre tu ciudad y sobre tu pueblo. La profecía de las setenta semanas

O lord, hear, O Lord, forgive; O Lord, attend and do; do not delay, for Thine own sake, O my God, for Thy name is called on Thy city, and on Thy people.'

20 A ún estaba yo hablando, orando y confesando mi pecado y el pecado de mi pueblo Israel, y presentando mi súplica delante del Señor mi Dios por el santo monte de mi Dios,

And while I am speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin, and the sin of my people Israel, and causing my supplication to fall before Jehovah my God, for the holy mount of my God,

21 t odavía estaba yo hablando en oración, cuando Gabriel, el hombre a quien había visto en la visión al principio, se me acercó, estando yo muy cansado, como a la hora de la ofrenda de la tarde.

yea, while I am speaking in prayer, then that one Gabriel, whom I had seen in vision at the commencement, being caused to fly swiftly, is coming unto me at the time of the evening present.

22 M e instruyó, habló conmigo y dijo: Daniel, he salido ahora para darte sabiduría y entendimiento.

And he giveth understanding, and speaketh with me, and saith, `O Daniel, now I have come forth to cause thee to consider understanding wisely;

23 A l principio de tus súplicas se dio la orden, y he venido para explicár tela, porque eres muy estimado; pon atención a la orden y entiende la visión.

at the commencement of thy supplications hath the word come forth, and I have come to declare, for thou greatly desired, and understand thou concerning the matter, and consider concerning the appearance.

24 S etenta semanas han sido decretadas sobre tu pueblo y sobre tu santa ciudad, para poner fin a la transgresión, para terminar con el pecado, para expiar la iniquidad, para traer justicia eterna, para sellar la visión y la profecía, y para ungir el lugar santísimo.

`Seventy weeks are determined for thy people, and for thy holy city, to shut up the transgression, and to seal up sins, and to cover iniquity, and to bring in righteousness age-during, and to seal up vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies.

25 H as de saber y entender que desde la salida de la orden para restaurar y reconstruir a Jerusalén hasta el Mesías Príncipe, habrá siete semanas y sesenta y dos semanas; volverá a ser edificada, con plaza y foso, pero en tiempos de angustia.

And thou dost know, and dost consider wisely, from the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem till Messiah the Leader seven weeks, and sixty and two weeks: the broad place hath been built again, and the rampart, even in the distress of the times.

26 D espués de las sesenta y dos semanas el Mesías será muerto y no tendrá nada, y el pueblo del príncipe que ha de venir destruirá la ciudad y el santuario. Su fin vendrá con inundación; aun hasta el fin habrá guerra; las desolaciones están determinadas.

And after the sixty and two weeks, cut off is Messiah, and the city and the holy place are not his, the Leader who hath come doth destroy the people; and its end with a flood, and till the end war, determined desolations.

27 Y él hará un pacto firme con muchos por una semana, pero a la mitad de la semana pondrá fin al sacrificio y a la ofrenda de cereal. Sobre el ala de abominaciones vendrá el desolador, hasta que una destrucción completa, la que está decretada, sea derramada sobre el desolador.

And he hath strengthened a covenant with many -- one week, and the midst of the week he causeth sacrifice and present to cease, and by the wing of abominations he is making desolate, even till the consummation, and that which is determined is poured on the desolate one.'
