1 T ocad trompeta en Sion, y sonad alarma en mi santo monte. Tiemblen todos los habitantes de la tierra, porque viene el día del Señor, porque está cercano;

Blow ye a trumpet in Zion, And shout ye in My holy hill, Tremble do all inhabitants of the earth, For coming is the day of Jehovah, for near!

2 d ía de tinieblas y lobreguez, día nublado y de densa oscuridad. Como la aurora sobre los montes, se extiende un pueblo grande y poderoso; nunca ha habido nada semejante a él, ni tampoco lo habrá después por años de muchas generaciones.

A day of darkness and thick darkness, A day of cloud and thick darkness, As darkness spread on the mountains, A people numerous and mighty, Like it there hath not been from of old, And after it there is not again -- till the years of generation and generation.

3 D elante de él consume el fuego, y detrás de él abrasa la llama. Como el huerto del Edén es la tierra delante de él; y detrás de él, un desierto desolado, y de él nada escapa.

Before it consumed hath fire, And after it burn doth a flame, As the garden of Eden the land before it, And after it a wilderness -- a desolation! And also an escape there hath not been to it,

4 C omo aspecto de caballos es su aspecto, y como corceles de guerra, así corren.

As the appearance of horses its appearance, And as horsemen, so they run.

5 C omo estrépito de carros saltan sobre las cumbres de los montes, como el crepitar de llama de fuego que consume la hojarasca, como pueblo poderoso dispuesto para la batalla.

As the noise of chariots, on the tops of the mountains they skip, As the noise of a flame of fire devouring stubble, As a mighty people set in array for battle.

6 A nte él tiemblan los pueblos, palidecen todos los rostros.

From its face pained are peoples, All faces have gathered paleness.

7 C omo valientes corren, como soldados escalan la muralla; cada uno marcha por su camino, y no se desvían de sus sendas.

As mighty ones they run, As men of war they go up a wall, And each in his own ways they do go, And they embarrass not their paths.

8 N o se aprietan uno contra otro, cada cual marcha por su calzada; y cuando irrumpen por las defensas, no rompen las filas.

And each his brother they press not, Each in his way they go on, If by the missile they fall, they are not cut off.

9 S e lanzan sobre la ciudad, corren por la muralla, suben a las casas, entran por las ventanas como ladrones.

In the city they run to and fro, On the wall they run, Into houses they go up by the windows, They go in as a thief.

10 A nte ellos tiembla la tierra, se estremecen los cielos, el sol y la luna se oscurecen, y las estrellas pierden su resplandor.

At their face trembled hath the earth, Shaken have the heavens, Sun and moon have been black, And stars have gathered up their shining.

11 E l Señor da su voz delante de su ejército, porque es inmenso su campamento, porque poderoso es el que ejecuta su palabra. Grande y terrible es en verdad el día del Señor, ¿y quién podrá soportarlo ? Invitación al arrepentimiento

And Jehovah hath given forth His voice before His force, For very great His camp, For mighty the doer of His word, For great the day of Jehovah -- very fearful, And who doth bear it?

12 A un ahora —declara el Señor — volved a mí de todo corazón, con ayuno, llanto y lamento.

And also now -- an affirmation of Jehovah, Turn ye back unto Me with all your heart, And with fasting, and with weeping, And with lamentation.

13 R asgad vuestro corazón y no vuestros vestidos; volved ahora al Señor vuestro Dios, porque El es compasivo y clemente, lento para la ira, abundante en misericordia, y se arrepiente de infligir el mal.

And rend your heart, and not your garments, And turn back unto Jehovah your God, For gracious and merciful He, Slow to anger, and abundant in kindness, And He hath repented concerning the evil.

14 ¿ Quién sabe si volverá y se apiadará, y dejará tras sí bendición, es decir, ofrenda de cereal y libación para el Señor vuestro Dios?

Who knoweth -- He doth turn back, Yea -- He hath repented, And He hath left behind Him a blessing, A present and libation of Jehovah your God?

15 T ocad trompeta en Sion, promulgad ayuno, convocad asamblea,

Blow ye a trumpet in Zion, Sanctify a fast -- proclaim a restraint.

16 r eunid al pueblo, santificad la asamblea, congregad a los ancianos, reunid a los pequeños y a los niños de pecho. Salga el novio de su aposento y la novia de su alcoba.

Gather the people, sanctify an assembly, Assemble the aged, Gather infants and sucklings of the breasts, Go out let a bridegroom from his inner chamber, And a bride out of her closet.

17 E ntre el pórtico y el altar, lloren los sacerdotes, ministros del Señor, y digan: Perdona, oh Señor, a tu pueblo, y no entregues tu heredad al oprobio, a la burla entre las naciones. ¿Por qué han de decir entre los pueblos: “Dónde está su Dios ”? Misericordia del Señor

Between the porch and the altar weep let the priests, ministrants of Jehovah, And let them say: `Have pity, O Jehovah, on Thy people, And give not Thy inheritance to reproach, To the ruling over them of nations, Why do they say among peoples, Where their God?'

18 E ntonces el Señor se llenará de celo por su tierra, y tendrá piedad de su pueblo.

And let Jehovah be zealous for His land, And have pity on His people.

19 E l Señor responderá, y dirá a su pueblo: He aquí, yo os enviaré grano, mosto y aceite, y os saciaréis de ello, y nunca más os entregaré al oprobio entre las naciones.

Let Jehovah answer and say to His people, `Lo, I am sending to you the corn, And the new wine, and the oil, And ye have been satisfied with it, And I make you no more a reproach among nations,

20 A l ejército del norte lo alejaré de vosotros y lo echaré a una tierra árida y desolada, su vanguardia hacia el mar oriental, y su retaguardia hacia el mar occidental. Y ascenderá su hedor y subirá su fetidez, porque ha hecho terribles cosas.

And the northern I put far off from you, And have driven him unto a land dry and desolate, With his face unto the eastern sea, And his rear unto the western sea, And come up hath his stink, And come up doth his stench, For he hath exerted himself to work.

21 N o temas, oh tierra, regocíjate y alégrate, porque el Señor ha hecho grandes cosas.

Do not fear, O land! joy and rejoice, For Jehovah hath exerted Himself to work.

22 N o temáis, bestias del campo, porque los pastos del desierto han reverdecido, porque el árbol ha dado su fruto, la higuera y la vid han producido en abundancia.

Do not fear, O cattle of the field! For sprung forth have pastures of a wilderness, For the tree hath borne its fruit, Fig-tree and vine have given their strength!

23 H ijos de Sion, regocijaos y alegraos en el Señor vuestro Dios; porque El os ha dado la lluvia temprana para vuestra vindicación, y ha hecho descender para vosotros la lluvia, la lluvia temprana y la tardía como en el principio.

And ye sons of Zion, joy and rejoice, In Jehovah your God, For He hath given to you the Teacher for righteousness, And causeth to come down to you a shower, Sprinkling and gathered -- in the beginning.

24 Y las eras se llenarán de grano, y las tinajas rebosarán de mosto y de aceite virgen.

And full have been the floors pure corn, And overflown have the presses new wine and oil.

25 E ntonces os compensaré por los años que ha comido la langosta, el pulgón, el saltón y la oruga, mi gran ejército, que envié contra vosotros.

And I have recompensed to you the years That consume did the locust, the cankerworm, And the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, My great force that I did send against you.

26 T endréis mucho que comer y os saciaréis, y alabaréis el nombre del Señor vuestro Dios, que ha obrado maravillosamente con vosotros; y nunca jamás será avergonzado mi pueblo.

And ye have eaten, eating and being satisfied, And have praised the name of Jehovah your God, Who hath dealt with you wonderfully, And not ashamed are My people to the age.

27 Y sabréis que en medio de Israel estoy yo, y que yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios y no hay otro; nunca jamás será avergonzado mi pueblo. Derramamiento del Espíritu de Dios

And ye have known that in the midst of Israel I, And I Jehovah your God, and there is none else, And not ashamed are My people to the age.

28 Y sucederá que después de esto, derramaré mi Espíritu sobre toda carne; y vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas profetizarán, vuestros ancianos soñarán sueños, vuestros jóvenes verán visiones.

And it hath come to pass afterwards, I do pour out My Spirit on all flesh, And prophesied have your sons and your daughters, Your old men do dream dreams, Your young men do see visions.

29 Y aun sobre los siervos y las siervas derramaré mi Espíritu en esos días.

And also on the men-servants, and on the maid-servants, In those days I do pour out My Spirit.

30 Y haré prodigios en el cielo y en la tierra: sangre, fuego y columnas de humo.

And I have given wonders in the heavens, and in the earth, Blood and fire, and columns of smoke.

31 E l sol se convertirá en tinieblas, y la luna en sangre, antes que venga el día del Señor, grande y terrible.

The sun is turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, Before the coming of the day of Jehovah, The great and the fearful.

32 Y sucederá que todo aquel que invoque el nombre del Señor será salvo; porque en el monte Sion y en Jerusalén habrá salvación, como ha dicho el Señor, y entre los sobrevivientes estarán los que el Señor llame.

And it hath come to pass, Every one who calleth in the name of Jehovah is delivered, For in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there is an escape, As Jehovah hath said, And among the remnants whom Jehovah is calling!
