1 Y ACONTECIO que pasados dos años tuvo Faraón un sueño: Parecíale que estaba junto al río;

And it cometh to pass, at the end of two years of days that Pharaoh is dreaming, and lo, he is standing by the River,

2 Y que del río subían siete vacas, hermosas á la vista, y muy gordas, y pacían en el prado:

and lo, from the River coming up are seven kine, of fair appearance, and fat flesh, and they feed among the reeds;

3 Y que otras siete vacas subían tras ellas del río, de fea vista, y enjutas de carne, y se pararon cerca de las vacas hermosas á la orilla del río:

and lo, seven other kine are coming up after them out of the River, of bad appearance, and lean flesh, and they stand near the kine on the edge of the River,

4 Y que las vacas de fea vista y enjutas de carne devoraban á las siete vacas hermosas y muy gordas. Y despertó Faraón.

and the kine of bad appearance and lean flesh eat up the seven kine of fair appearance, and fat -- and Pharaoh awaketh.

5 D urmióse de nuevo, y soñó la segunda vez: Que siete espigas llenas y hermosas subían de una sola caña:

And he sleepeth, and dreameth a second time, and lo, seven ears are coming up on one stalk, fat and good,

6 Y que otras siete espigas menudas y abatidas del Solano, salían después de ellas:

and lo, seven ears, thin, and blasted with an east wind, are springing up after them;

7 Y las siete espigas menudas devoraban á las siete espigas gruesas y llenas. Y despertó Faraón, y he aquí que era sueño.

and the thin ears swallow the seven fat and full ears -- and Pharaoh awaketh, and lo, a dream.

8 Y acaeció que á la mañana estaba agitado su espíritu; y envió é hizo llamar á todos los magos de Egipto, y á todos sus sabios: y contóles Faraón sus sueños, mas no había quien á Faraón los declarase.

And it cometh to pass in the morning, that his spirit is moved, and he sendeth and calleth all the scribes of Egypt, and all its wise men, and Pharaoh recounteth to them his dream, and there is no interpreter of them to Pharaoh.

9 E ntonces el principal de los coperos habló á Faraón, diciendo: Acuérdome hoy de mis faltas:

And the chief of the butlers speaketh with Pharaoh, saying, `My sin I mention this day:

10 F araón se enojó contra sus siervos, y á mí me echó á la prisión de la casa del capitán de los de la guardia, á mí y al principal de los panaderos:

Pharaoh hath been wroth against his servants, and giveth me into charge in the house of the chief of the executioners, me and the chief of the bakers;

11 Y yo y él vimos un sueño una misma noche: cada uno soñó conforme á la declaración de su sueño.

and we dream a dream in one night, I and he, each according to the interpretation of his dream we have dreamed.

12 Y estaba allí con nosotros un mozo Hebreo, sirviente del capitán de los de la guardia; y se lo contamos, y él nos declaró nuestros sueños, y declaró á cada uno conforme á su sueño.

And there with us a youth, a Hebrew, servant to the chief of the executioners, and we recount to him, and he interpreteth to us our dreams, each according to his dream hath he interpreted,

13 Y aconteció que como él nos declaró, así fué: á mí me hizo volver á mi puesto, é hizo colgar al otro.

and it cometh to pass, as he hath interpreted to us so it hath been, me he put back on my station, and him he hanged.'

14 E ntonces Faraón envió y llamó á José; é hiciéronle salir corriendo de la cárcel, y le cortaron el pelo, y mudaron sus vestidos, y vino á Faraón.

And Pharaoh sendeth and calleth Joseph, and they cause him to run out of the pit, and he shaveth, and changeth his garments, and cometh in unto Pharaoh.

15 Y dijo Faraón á José: Yo he tenido un sueño, y no hay quien lo declare; mas he oído decir de ti, que oyes sueños para declararlos.

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `A dream I have dreamed, and there is no interpreter of it, and I -- I have heard concerning thee, saying, Thou understandest a dream to interpret it,'

16 Y respondió José á Faraón, diciendo: No está en mí; Dios será el que responda paz á Faraón.

and Joseph answereth Pharaoh, saying, `Without me -- God doth answer Pharaoh with peace.'

17 E ntonces Faraón dijo á José: En mi sueño parecíame que estaba á la orilla del río:

And Pharaoh speaketh unto Joseph: `In my dream, lo, I am standing by the edge of the River,

18 Y que del río subían siete vacas de gruesas carnes y hermosa apariencia, que pacían en el prado:

and lo, out of the River coming up are seven kine, fat flesh, and of fair form, and they feed among the reeds;

19 Y que otras siete vacas subían después de ellas, flacas y de muy fea traza; tan extenuadas, que no he visto otras semejantes en toda la tierra de Egipto en fealdad:

and lo, seven other kine are coming up after them, thin, and of very bad form, and lean flesh; I have not seen like these in all the land of Egypt for badness.

20 Y las vacas flacas y feas devoraban á las siete primeras vacas gruesas:

`And the lean and the bad kine eat up the first seven fat kine,

21 Y entraban en sus entrañas, mas no se conocía que hubiese entrado en ellas, porque su parecer era aún malo, como de primero. Y yo desperté.

and they come in unto their midst, and it hath not been known that they have come in unto their midst, and their appearance bad as at the commencement; and I awake.

22 V i también soñando, que siete espigas subían en una misma caña llenas y hermosas;

`And I see in my dream, and lo, seven ears are coming up on one stalk, full and good;

23 Y que otras siete espigas menudas, marchitas, abatidas del Solano, subían después de ellas:

and lo, seven ears, withered, thin, blasted with an east wind, are springing up after them;

24 Y las espigas menudas devoraban á las siete espigas hermosas: y helo dicho á los magos, mas no hay quien me lo declare.

and the thin ears swallow the seven good ears; and I tell unto the scribes, and there is none declaring to me.'

25 E ntonces respondió José á Faraón: El sueño de Faraón es uno mismo: Dios ha mostrado á Faraón lo que va á hacer.

And Joseph saith unto Pharaoh, `The dream of Pharaoh is one: that which God is doing he hath declared to Pharaoh;

26 L as siete vacas hermosas siete años son; y las espigas hermosas son siete años: el sueño es uno mismo.

the seven good kine are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years, the dream is one;

27 T ambién las siete vacas flacas y feas que subían tras ellas, son siete años; y las siete espigas menudas y marchitas del Solano, siete años serán de hambre.

and the seven thin and bad kine which are coming up after them are seven years, and the seven empty ears, blasted with an east wind, are seven years of famine;

28 E sto es lo que respondo á Faraón. Lo que Dios va á hacer, halo mostrado á Faraón.

this the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: That which God is doing, he hath shewn Pharaoh.

29 H e aquí vienen siete años de grande hartura en toda la tierra de Egipto:

`Lo, seven years are coming of great abundance in all the land of Egypt,

30 Y levantarse han tras ellos siete años de hambre; y toda la hartura será olvidada en la tierra de Egipto; y el hambre consumirá la tierra;

and seven years of famine have arisen after them, and all the plenty is forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine hath finished the land,

31 Y aquella abundancia no se echará de ver á causa del hambre siguiente, la cual será gravísima.

and the plenty is not known in the land because of that famine afterwards, for it very grievous.

32 Y el suceder el sueño á Faraón dos veces, significa que la cosa es firme de parte de Dios, y que Dios se apresura á hacerla.

`And because of the repeating of the dream unto Pharaoh twice, surely the thing is established by God, and God is hastening to do it.

33 P or tanto, provéase ahora Faraón de un varón prudente y sabio, y póngalo sobre la tierra de Egipto.

`And now, let Pharaoh provide a man, intelligent and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt;

34 H aga esto Faraón, y ponga gobernadores sobre el país, y quinte la tierra de Egipto en los siete años de la hartura;

let Pharaoh make and appoint overseers over the land, and receive a fifth of the land of Egypt in the seven years of plenty,

35 Y junten toda la provisión de estos buenos años que vienen, y alleguen el trigo bajo la mano de Faraón para mantenimiento de las ciudades; y guárdenlo.

and they gather all the food of these good years that are coming, and heap up corn under the hand of Pharaoh -- food in the cities; and they have kept,

36 Y esté aquella provisión en depósito para el país, para los siete años del hambre que serán en la tierra de Egipto; y el país no perecerá de hambre.

and the food hath been for a store for the land, for the seven years of famine which are in the land of Egypt; and the land is cut off by the famine.'

37 Y el negocio pareció bien á Faraón, y á sus siervos.

And the thing is good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants,

38 Y dijo Faraón á sus siervos: ¿Hemos de hallar otro hombre como éste, en quien haya espíritu de Dios?

and Pharaoh saith unto his servants, `Do we find like this, a man in whom the spirit of God ?'

39 Y dijo Faraón á José: Pues que Dios te ha hecho saber todo esto, no hay entendido ni sabio como tú:

and Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `After God's causing thee to know all this, there is none intelligent and wise as thou;

40 T ú serás sobre mi casa, y por tu dicho se gobernará todo mi pueblo: solamente en el trono seré yo mayor que tú.

thou -- thou art over my house, and at thy mouth do all my people kiss; only in the throne I am greater than thou.'

41 D ijo más Faraón á José: He aquí yo te he puesto sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `See, I have put thee over all the land of Egypt.'

42 E ntonces Faraón quitó su anillo de su mano, y púsolo en la mano de José, é hízole vestir de ropas de lino finísimo, y puso un collar de oro en su cuello;

And Pharaoh turneth aside his seal-ring from off his hand, and putteth it on the hand of Joseph, and clotheth him garments of fine linen, and placeth a chain of gold on his neck,

43 E hízolo subir en su segundo carro, y pregonaron delante de él: Doblad la rodilla: y púsole sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.

and causeth him to ride in the second chariot which he hath, and they proclaim before him, `Bow the knee!' and -- to put him over all the land of Egypt.

44 Y dijo Faraón á José: Yo Faraón; y sin ti ninguno alzará su mano ni su pie en toda la tierra de Egipto.

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `I Pharaoh, and without thee a man doth not lift up his hand and his foot in all the land of Egypt;'

45 Y llamó Faraón el nombre de José, Zaphnath-paaneah; y dióle por mujer á Asenath, hija de Potipherah, sacerdote de On. Y salió José por toda la tierra de Egipto.

and Pharaoh calleth Joseph's name Zaphnath-Paaneah, and he giveth to him Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, for a wife, and Joseph goeth out over the land of Egypt.

46 Y era José de edad de treinta años cuando fué presentado delante de Faraón, rey de Egipto: y salió José de delante de Faraón, y transitó por toda la tierra de Egipto.

And Joseph a son of thirty years in his standing before Pharaoh king of Egypt, and Joseph goeth out from the presence of Pharaoh, and passeth over through all the land of Egypt;

47 E hizo la tierra en aquellos siete años de hartura á montones.

and the land maketh in the seven years of plenty by handfuls.

48 Y él juntó todo el mantenimiento de los siete años que fueron en la tierra de Egipto, y guardó mantenimiento en las ciudades, poniendo en cada ciudad el mantenimiento del campo de sus alrededores.

And he gathereth all the food of the seven years which have been in the land of Egypt, and putteth food in the cities; the food of the field which round about city hath he put in its midst;

49 Y acopió José trigo como arena de la mar, mucho en extremo, hasta no poderse contar, porque no tenía número.

and Joseph gathereth corn as sand of the sea, multiplying exceedingly, until that he hath ceased to number, for there is no number.

50 Y nacieron á José dos hijos antes que viniese el primer año del hambre, los cuales le parió Asenath, hija de Potipherah, sacerdote de On.

And to Joseph were born two sons before the year of famine cometh, whom Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, hath borne to him,

51 Y llamó José el nombre del primogénito Manasés; porque Dios (dijo) me hizo olvidar todo mi trabajo, y toda la casa de mi padre.

and Joseph calleth the name of the first-born Manasseh: `for, God hath made me to forget all my labour, and all the house of my father;'

52 Y el nombre del segundo llamólo Ephraim; porque Dios (dijo) me hizo fértil en la tierra de mi aflicción.

and the name of the second he hath called Ephraim: `for, God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of mine affliction.'

53 Y cumpliéronse los siete años de la hartura, que hubo en la tierra de Egipto.

And the seven years of plenty are completed which have been in the land of Egypt,

54 Y comenzaron á venir los siete años del hambre, como José había dicho: y hubo hambre en todos los países, mas en toda la tierra de Egipto había pan.

and the seven years of famine begin to come, as Joseph said, and famine is in all the lands, but in all the land of Egypt hath been bread;

55 Y cuando se sintió el hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto, el pueblo clamó á Faraón por pan. Y dijo Faraón á todos los Egipcios: Id á José, y haced lo que él os dijere.

and all the land of Egypt is famished, and the people crieth unto Pharaoh for bread, and Pharaoh saith to all the Egyptians, `Go unto Joseph; that which he saith to you -- do.'

56 Y el hambre estaba por toda la extensión del país. Entonces abrió José todo granero donde había, y vendía á los Egipcios; porque había crecido el hambre en la tierra de Egipto.

And the famine has been over all the face of the land, and Joseph openeth all which have in them, and selleth to the Egyptians; and the famine is severe in the land of Egypt,

57 Y toda la tierra venía á Egipto para comprar de José, porque por toda la tierra había crecido el hambre.

and all the earth hath come to Egypt, to buy, unto Joseph, for the famine was severe in all the earth.
