1 P ABLO y Timoteo, siervos de Jesucristo, á todos los santos en Cristo Jesús que están en Filipos, con los obispos y diáconos

Paul and Timotheus, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with overseers and ministrants;

2 G racia sea á vosotros, y paz de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.

Grace to you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 D oy gracias á mi Dios en toda memoria de vosotros,

I give thanks to my God upon all the remembrance of you,

4 S iempre en todas mis oraciones haciendo oración por todos vosotros con gozo,

always, in every supplication of mine for you all, with joy making the supplication,

5 P or vuestra comunión en el evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora:

for your contribution to the good news from the first day till now,

6 E stando confiado de esto, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo;

having been confident of this very thing, that He who did begin in you a good work, will perform till a day of Jesus Christ,

7 C omo me es justo sentir esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y confirmación del evangelio, sois todos vosotros compañeros de mi gracia.

according as it is righteous for me to think this in behalf of you all, because of my having you in the heart, both in my bonds, and the defence and confirmation of the good news, all of you being fellow-partakers with me of grace.

8 P orque Dios me es testigo de cómo os amo á todos vosotros en las entrañas de Jesucristo.

For God is my witness, how I long for you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ,

9 Y esto ruego, que vuestro amor abunde aun más y más en ciencia y en todo conocimiento,

and this I pray, that your love yet more and more may abound in full knowledge, and all judgment,

10 P ara que discernáis lo mejor; que seáis sinceros y sin ofensa para el día de Cristo;

for your proving the things that differ, that ye may be pure and offenceless -- to a day of Christ,

11 L lenos de frutos de justicia, que son por Jesucristo, á gloria y loor de Dios.

being filled with the fruit of righteousness, that through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

12 Y quiero, hermanos, que sepáis que las cosas que me han sucedido, han redundado más en provecho del evangelio;

And I wish you to know, brethren, that the things concerning me, rather to an advancement of the good news have come,

13 D e manera que mis prisiones han sido célebres en Cristo en todo el pretorio, y á todos los demás;

so that my bonds have become manifest in Christ in the whole praetorium, and to the other places -- all,

14 Y muchos de los hermanos en el Señor, tomando ánimo con mis prisiones, se atreven mucho más á hablar la palabra sin temor.

and the greater part of the brethren in the Lord, having confidence by my bonds, are more abundantly bold -- fearlessly to speak the word.

15 Y algunos, á la verdad, predican á Cristo por envidia y porfía; mas algunos también por buena voluntad.

Certain, indeed, even through envy and contention, and certain also through good-will, do preach the Christ;

16 L os unos anuncian á Cristo por contención, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción á mis prisiones;

the one, indeed, of rivalry the Christ do proclaim, not purely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds,

17 P ero los otros por amor, sabiendo que soy puesto por la defensa del evangelio.

and the other out of love, having known that for defence of the good news I am set:

18 ¿ Qué pues? Que no obstante, en todas maneras, ó por pretexto ó por verdad, es anunciado Cristo; y en esto me huelgo, y aun me holgaré.

what then? in every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is proclaimed -- and in this I rejoice, yea, and shall rejoice.

19 P orque sé que esto se me tornará á salud, por vuestra oración, y por la suministración del Espíritu de Jesucristo;

For I have known that this shall fall out to me for salvation, through your supplication, and the supply of the Spirit of Christ Jesus,

20 C onforme á mi mira y esperanza, que en nada seré confundido; antes bien con toda confianza, como siempre, ahora también será engrandecido Cristo en mi cuerpo, ó por vida, ó por muerte.

according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, and in all freedom, as always, also now Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether through life or through death,

21 P orque para mí el vivir es Cristo, y el morir es ganancia.

for to me to live Christ, and to die gain.

22 M as si el vivir en la carne, esto me será para fruto de la obra, no sé entonces qué escoger;

And if to live in the flesh to me a fruit of work, then what shall I choose? I know not;

23 P orque de ambas cosas estoy puesto en estrecho, teniendo deseo de ser desatado, y estar con Cristo, lo cual es mucho mejor:

for I am pressed by the two, having the desire to depart, and to be with Christ, for it is far better,

24 E mpero quedar en la carne es más necesario por causa de vosotros.

and to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account,

25 Y confiado en esto, sé que quedaré, que aun permaneceré con todos vosotros, para provecho vuestro y gozo de la fe;

and of this being persuaded, I have known that I shall remain and continue with you all, to your advancement and joy of the faith,

26 P ara que crezca vuestra gloria de mí en Cristo Jesús por mi venida otra vez á vosotros.

that your boasting may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence again to you.

27 S olamente que converséis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo; para que, ó sea que vaya á veros, ó que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, unánimes combatiendo juntamente por la fe del evangelio,

Only worthily of the good news of the Christ conduct ye yourselves, that, whether having come and seen you, whether being absent I may hear of the things concerning you, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one soul, striving together for the faith of the good news,

28 Y en nada intimidados de los que se oponen: que á ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas á vosotros de salud; y esto de Dios;

and not terrified in anything by those opposing, which to them indeed is a token of destruction, and to you of salvation, and that from God;

29 P orque á vosotros es concedido por Cristo, no sólo que creáis en él, sino también que padezcáis por él,

because to you it was granted, on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also on behalf of him to suffer;

30 T eniendo el mismo conflicto que habéis visto en mí, y ahora oís estar en mí.

the same conflict having, such as ye saw in me, and now hear of in me.
