1 T AMBIÉN les dijo: De cierto os digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no gustarán la muerte hasta que hayan visto el reino de Dios que viene con potencia.

And he said to them, `Verily I say to you, That there are certain of those standing here, who may not taste of death till they see the reign of God having come in power.'

2 Y seis días después tomó Jesús á Pedro, y á Jacobo, y á Juan, y los sacó aparte solos á un monte alto; y fué transfigurado delante de ellos.

And after six days doth Jesus take Peter, and James, and John, and bringeth them up to a high mount by themselves, alone, and he was transfigured before them,

3 Y sus vestidos se volvieron resplandecientes, muy blancos, como la nieve; tanto que ningún lavador en la tierra los puede hacer tan blancos.

and his garments became glittering, white exceedingly, as snow, so as a fuller upon the earth is not able to whiten.

4 Y les apareció Elías con Moisés, que hablaban con Jesús.

And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.

5 E ntonces respondiendo Pedro, dice á Jesús: Maestro, bien será que nos quedemos aquí, y hagamos tres pabellones: para ti uno, y para Moisés otro, y para Elías otro;

And Peter answering saith to Jesus, `Rabbi, it is good to us to be here; and we may make three booths, for thee one, and for Moses one, and for Elijah one:'

6 P orque no sabía lo que hablaba; que estaban espantados.

for he was not knowing what he might say, for they were greatly afraid.

7 Y vino una nube que les hizo sombra, y una voz de la nube, que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado: á él oíd.

And there came a cloud overshadowing them, and there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, `This is My Son -- the Beloved, hear ye him;'

8 Y luego, como miraron, no vieron más á nadie consigo, sino á Jesús solo.

and suddenly, having looked around, they saw no one any more, but Jesus only with themselves.

9 Y descendiendo ellos del monte, les mandó que á nadie dijesen lo que habían visto, sino cuando el Hijo del hombre hubiese resucitado de los muertos.

And as they are coming down from the mount, he charged them that they may declare to no one the things that they saw, except when the Son of Man may rise out of the dead;

10 Y retuvieron la palabra en sí, altercando qué sería aquéllo: Resucitar de los muertos.

and the thing they kept to themselves, questioning together what the rising out of the dead is.

11 Y le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Qué es lo que los escribas dicen, que es necesario que Elías venga antes?

And they were questioning him, saying, that the scribes say that Elijah it behoveth to come first.

12 Y respondiendo él, les dijo: Elías á la verdad, viniendo antes, restituirá todas las cosas: y como está escrito del Hijo del hombre, que padezca mucho y sea tenido en nada.

And he answering said to them, `Elijah indeed, having come first, doth restore all things; and how hath it been written concerning the Son of Man, that many things he may suffer, and be set at nought?

13 E mpero os digo que Elías ya vino, y le hicieron todo lo que quisieron, como está escrito de él.

But I say to you, That also Elijah hath come, and they did to him what they willed, as it hath been written of him.'

14 Y como vino á los discípulos, vió grande compañía alrededor de ellos, y escribas que disputaban con ellos.

And having come unto the disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and scribes questioning with them,

15 Y luego toda la gente, viéndole, se espantó, y corriendo á él, le saludaron.

and immediately, all the multitude having seen him, were amazed, and running near, were saluting him.

16 Y preguntóles: ¿Qué disputáis con ellos?

And he questioned the scribes, `What dispute ye with them?'

17 Y respondiendo uno de la compañía, dijo: Maestro, traje á ti mi hijo, que tiene un espíritu mudo,

and one out of the multitude answering said, `Teacher, I brought my son unto thee, having a dumb spirit;

18 E l cual, donde quiera que le toma, le despedaza; y echa espumarajos, y cruje los dientes, y se va secando: y dije á tus discípulos que le echasen fuera, y no pudieron.

and wherever it doth seize him, it doth tear him, and he foameth, and gnasheth his teeth, and pineth away; and I spake to thy disciples that they may cast it out, and they were not able.'

19 Y respondiendo él, les dijo: ­Oh generación infiel! ¿hasta cuándo estaré con vosotros? ¿hasta cuándo os tengo de sufrir? Traédmele.

And he answering him, said, `O generation unbelieving, till when shall I be with you? till when shall I suffer you? bring him unto me;'

20 Y se le trajeron: y como le vió, luego el espíritu le desgarraba; y cayendo en tierra, se revolcaba, echando espumarajos.

and they brought him unto him, and he having seen him, immediately the spirit tare him, and he, having fallen upon the earth, was wallowing -- foaming.

21 Y Jesús preguntó á su padre: ¿Cuánto tiempo há que le aconteció esto? Y él dijo: Desde niño:

And he questioned his father, `How long time is it since this came to him?' and he said, `From childhood,

22 Y muchas veces le echa en el fuego y en aguas, para matarle; mas, si puedes algo, ayúdanos, teniendo misericordia de nosotros.

and many times also it cast him into fire, and into water, that it might destroy him; but if thou art able to do anything, help us, having compassion on us.'

23 Y Jesús le dijo: Si puedes creer, al que cree todo es posible.

And Jesus said to him, `If thou art able to believe! all things are possible to the one that is believing;'

24 Y luego el padre del muchacho dijo clamando: Creo, ayuda mi incredulidad.

and immediately the father of the child, having cried out, with tears said, `I believe, sir; be helping mine unbelief.'

25 Y como Jesús vió que la multitud se agolpaba, reprendió al espíritu inmundo, diciéndole: Espíritu mudo y sordo, yo te mando, sal de él, y no entres más en él.

Jesus having seen that a multitude doth run together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, `Spirit -- dumb and deaf -- I charge thee, come forth out of him, and no more thou mayest enter into him;'

26 E ntonces el espíritu clamando y desgarrándole mucho, salió; y él quedó como muerto, de modo que muchos decían: Está muerto.

and having cried, and rent him much, it came forth, and he became as dead, so that many said that he was dead,

27 M as Jesús tomándole de la mano, enderezóle; y se levantó.

but Jesus, having taken him by the hand, lifted him up, and he arose.

28 Y como él entró en casa, sus discípulos le preguntaron aparte: ¿Por qué nosotros no pudimos echarle fuera?

And he having come into the house, his disciples were questioning him by himself -- `Why were we not able to cast it forth?'

29 Y les dijo: Este género con nada puede salir, sino con oración y ayuno.

And he said to them, `This kind is able to come forth with nothing except with prayer and fasting.'

30 Y habiendo salido de allí, caminaron por Galilea; y no quería que nadie lo supiese.

And having gone forth thence, they were passing through Galilee, and he did not wish that any may know,

31 P orque enseñaba á sus discípulos, y les decía: El Hijo del hombre será entregado en manos de hombres, y le matarán; mas muerto él, resucitará al tercer día.

for he was teaching his disciples, and he said to them, `The Son of Man is being delivered to the hands of men, and they shall kill him, and having been killed the third day he shall rise,'

32 P ero ellos no entendían esta palabra, y tenían miedo de preguntarle.

but they were not understanding the saying, and they were afraid to question him.

33 Y llegó á Capernaum; y así que estuvo en casa, les preguntó: ¿Qué disputabais entre vosotros en el camino?

And he came to Capernaum, and being in the house, he was questioning them, `What were ye reasoning in the way among yourselves?'

34 M as ellos callaron; porque los unos con los otros habían disputado en el camino quién había de ser el mayor.

and they were silent, for with one another they did reason in the way who is greater;

35 E ntonces sentándose, llamó á los doce, y les dice: Si alguno quiere ser el primero, será el postrero de todos, y el servidor de todos.

and having sat down he called the twelve, and he saith to them, `If any doth will to be first, he shall be last of all, and minister of all.'

36 Y tomando un niño, púsolo en medio de ellos; y tomándole en sus brazos, les dice:

And having taken a child, he set him in the midst of them, and having taken him in his arms, said to them,

37 E l que recibiere en mi nombre uno de los tales niños, á mí recibe; y el que á mí recibe, no recibe á mí, mas al que me envió.

`Whoever may receive one of such children in my name, doth receive me, and whoever may receive me, doth not receive me, but Him who sent me.'

38 Y respondióle Juan, diciendo: Maestro, hemos visto á uno que en tu nombre echaba fuera los demonios, el cual no nos sigue; y se lo prohibimos, porque no nos sigue.

And John did answer him, saying, `Teacher, we saw a certain one in thy name casting out demons, who doth not follow us, and we forbade him, because he doth not follow us.'

39 Y Jesús dijo: No se lo prohibáis; porque ninguno hay que haga milagro en mi nombre que luego pueda decir mal de mí.

And Jesus said, `Forbid him not, for there is no one who shall do a mighty work in my name, and shall be able readily to speak evil of me:

40 P orque el que no es contra nosotros, por nosotros es.

for he who is not against us is for us;

41 Y cualquiera que os diere un vaso de agua en mi nombre, porque sois de Cristo, de cierto os digo que no perderá su recompensa.

for whoever may give you to drink a cup of water in my name, because ye are Christ's, verily I say to you, he may not lose his reward;

42 Y cualquiera que escandalizare á uno de estos pequeñitos que creen en mí, mejor le fuera si se le atase una piedra de molino al cuello, y fuera echado en la mar.

and whoever may cause to stumble one of the little ones believing in me, better is it for him if a millstone is hanged about his neck, and he hath been cast into the sea.

43 Y si tu mano te escandalizare, córtala: mejor te es entrar á la vida manco, que teniendo dos manos ir á la Gehenna, al fuego que no puede ser apagado;

`And if thy hand may cause thee to stumble, cut it off; it is better for thee maimed to enter into the life, than having the two hands, to go away to the gehenna, to the fire -- the unquenchable --

44 D onde su gusano no muere, y el fuego nunca se apaga.

where there worm is not dying, and the fire is not being quenched.

45 Y si tu pie te fuere ocasión de caer, córtalo: mejor te es entrar á la vida cojo, que teniendo dos pies ser echado en la Gehenna, al fuego que no puede ser apagado;

`And if thy foot may cause thee to stumble, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into the life lame, than having the two feet to be cast to the gehenna, to the fire -- the unquenchable --

46 D onde el gusano de ellos no muere, y el fuego nunca se apaga.

where there worm is not dying, and the fire is not being quenched.

47 Y si tu ojo te fuere ocasión de caer, sácalo: mejor te es entrar al reino de Dios con un ojo, que teniendo dos ojos ser echado á la Gehenna;

And if thine eye may cause thee to stumble, cast it out; it is better for thee one-eyed to enter into the reign of God, than having two eyes, to be cast to the gehenna of the fire --

48 D onde el gusano de ellos no muere, y el fuego nunca se apaga.

where their worm is not dying, and the fire is not being quenched;

49 P orque todos serán salados con fuego, y todo sacrificio será salado con sal.

for every one with fire shall be salted, and every sacrifice with salt shall be salted.

50 B uena es la sal; mas si la sal fuere desabrida, ¿con qué la adobaréis? Tened en vosotros mismos sal; y tened paz los unos con los otros.

The salt good, but if the salt may become saltless, in what will ye season ? Have in yourselves salt, and have peace in one another.'
