1 E NTONCES el rey envió, y juntaron á él todos los ancianos de Judá y de Jerusalem.

And the king sendeth, and they gather unto him all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem,

2 Y subió el rey á la casa de Jehová con todos los varones de Judá, y con todos los moradores de Jerusalem, con los sacerdotes y profetas y con todo el pueblo, desde el más chico hasta el más grande; y leyó, oyéndolo ellos, todas las palabras del libro del pacto que había sido hallado en la casa de Jehová.

and the king goeth up to the house of Jehovah, and every man of Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, from small unto great, and he readeth in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that is found in the house of Jehovah.

3 Y poniéndose el rey en pie junto á la columna, hizo alianza delante de Jehová, de que irían en pos de Jehová, y guardarían sus mandamientos, y sus testimonios, y sus estatutos, con todo el corazón y con toda el alma, y que cumplirían las palabras de la alianza que estaban escritas en aquel libro. Y todo el pueblo confirmó el pacto.

And the king standeth by the pillar, and maketh the covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep His commands, and His testimonies, and His statutes, with all the heart, and with all the soul, to establish the words of this covenant that are written on this book, and all the people stand in the covenant.

4 E ntonces mandó el rey al sumo sacerdote Hilcías, y á los sacerdotes de segundo orden, y á los guardianes de la puerta, que sacasen del templo de Jehová todos los vasos que habían sido hechos para Baal, y para el bosque, y para toda la milicia del cielo; y quemólos fuera de Jerusalem en el campo de Cedrón, é hizo llevar las cenizas de ellos á Beth-el.

And the king commandeth Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the threshold, to bring out from the temple of Jehovah all the vessels that are made for Baal, and for the shrine, and for all the host of the heavens, and he burneth them at the outside of Jerusalem, in the fields of Kidron, and hath borne their ashes to Beth-El.

5 Y quitó á los Camoreos, que habían puesto los reyes de Judá para que quemasen perfumes en los altos en las ciudades de Judá, y en los alrededores de Jerusalem; y asimismo á los que quemaban perfumes á Baal, al sol y á la luna, y á los signos, y á todo el ejército del cielo.

And he hath caused to cease the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah have appointed, (and they make perfume in high places, in cities of Judah and suburbs of Jerusalem,) and those making perfume to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of the heavens.

6 H izo también sacar el bosque fuera de la casa de Jehová, fuera de Jerusalem, al torrente de Cedrón, y quemólo en el torrente de Cedrón, y tornólo en polvo, y echó el polvo de él sobre los sepulcros de los hijos del pueblo.

And he bringeth out the shrine from the house of Jehovah to the outside of Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burneth it at the brook Kidron, and beateth it small to dust, and casteth its dust on the grave of the sons of the people.

7 A demás derribó las casas de los sodomitas que estaban en la casa de Jehová, en las cuales tejían las mujeres pabellones para el bosque.

And he breaketh down the houses of the whoremongers that in the house of Jehovah, where the women are weaving houses for the shrine.

8 E hizo venir todos los sacerdotes de las ciudades de Judá, y profanó los altos donde los sacerdotes quemaban perfumes, desde Gabaa hasta Beer-seba; y derribó los altares de las puertas que estaban á la entrada de la puerta de Josué, gobernador de la ciudad, que estaban á la mano izquierda, á la puerta de la ciudad.

And he bringeth in all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defileth the high places where the priests have made perfume, from Geba unto Beer-Sheba, and hath broken down the high places of the gates that at the opening of the gate of Joshua, head of the city, that on a man's left hand at the gate of the city;

9 E mpero los sacerdotes de los altos no subían al altar de Jehová en Jerusalem, mas comían panes sin levadura entre sus hermanos.

only, the priests of the high places come not up unto the altar of Jehovah in Jerusalem, but they have eaten unleavened things in the midst of their brethren.

10 A simismo profanó á Topheth, que está en el valle del hijo de Hinnom, porque ninguno pasase su hijo ó su hija por fuego á Moloch.

And he hath defiled Topheth, that in the valley of the son of Hinnom, so that no man doth cause his son and his daughter to pass over through fire to Molech.

11 Q uitó también los caballos que los reyes de Judá habían dedicado al sol á la entrada del templo de Jehová, junto á la cámara de Nathan-melech eunuco, el cual tenía cargo de los ejidos; y quemó al fuego los carros del sol.

And he causeth to cease the horses that the kings of Judah have given to the sun from the entering in of the house of Jehovah, by the chamber of Nathan-Melech the eunuch, that in the suburbs, and the chariots of the sun he hath burnt with fire.

12 D erribó además el rey los altares que estaban sobre la techumbre de la sala de Achâz, que los reyes de Judá habían hecho, y los altares que había hecho Manasés en los dos atrios de la casa de Jehová; y de allí corrió y arrojó el polvo en el torrente de Cedrón.

And the altars that on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, that the kings of Judah made, and the altars that Manasseh made in the two courts of the house of Jehovah, hath the king broken down, and removeth thence, and hath cast their dust unto the brook Kidron.

13 A simismo profanó el rey los altos que estaban delante de Jerusalem, á la mano derecha del monte de la destrucción, los cuales Salomón rey de Israel había edificado á Astharoth, abominación de los Sidonios, y á Chêmos abominación de Moab, y á Milcom abominación de los hijos de Ammón.

And the high places that on the front of Jerusalem, that on the right of the mount of corruption, that Solomon king of Israel had built to Ashtoreth abomination of the Zidonians, and Chemosh abomination of Moab, and to Milcom abomination of the sons of Ammon, hath the king defiled.

14 Y quebró las estatuas, y taló los bosques, é hinchió el lugar de ellos de huesos de hombres.

And he hath broken in pieces the standing-pillars, and cutteth down the shrines, and filleth their place with bones of men;

15 I gualmente el altar que estaba en Beth-el, y el alto que había hecho Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar á Israel, aquel altar y el alto destruyó; y quemó el alto, y lo tornó en polvo, y puso fuego al bosque.

and also the altar that in Beth-El, the high place that Jeroboam son of Nebat made, by which he made Israel sin, both that altar and the high place he hath broken down, and doth burn the high place -- he hath beat it small to dust, and hath burnt the shrine.

16 Y volvióse Josías, y viendo los sepulcros que estaban allí en el monte, envió y sacó los huesos de los sepulcros, y quemólos sobre el altar para contaminarlo, conforme á la palabra de Jehová que había profetizado el varón de Dios, el cual había anunciado estos negocios.

And Josiah turneth, and seeth the graves that there in the mount, and sendeth and taketh the bones out of the graves, and burneth on the altar, and defileth it, according to the word of Jehovah that the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

17 Y después dijo: ¿Qué título es este que veo? Y los de la ciudad le respondieron: Este es el sepulcro del varón de Dios que vino de Judá, y profetizó estas cosas que tú has hecho sobre el altar de Beth-el.

And he saith, `What this sign that I see?' and the men of the city say unto him, `The grave of the man of God who hath come from Judah, and proclaimeth these things that thou hast done concerning the altar of Beth-El.'

18 Y él dijo: Dedjadlo; ninguno mueva sus huesos: y así fueron preservados sus huesos, y los huesos del profeta que había venido de Samaria.

And he saith, `Let him alone, let no man touch his bones;' and they let his bones escape, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria.

19 Y todas las casas de los altos que estaban en las ciudades de Samaria, las cuales habían hecho los reyes de Israel para provocar á ira, quitólas también Josías, é hizo de ellas como había hecho en Beth-el.

And also all the houses of the high places that in the cities of Samaria, that the kings of Israel made to provoke to anger, hath Josiah turned aside, and doth to them according to all the deeds that he did in Beth-El.

20 M ató además sobre los altares á todos los sacerdotes de los altos que allí estaban, y quemó sobre ellos huesos de hombres, y volvióse á Jerusalem.

And he slayeth all the priests of the high places who there by the altars, and burneth the bones of man upon them, and turneth back to Jerusalem.

21 E ntonces mandó el rey á todo el pueblo, diciendo: Haced la pascua á Jehová vuestro Dios, conforme á lo que está escrito en el libro de esta alianza.

And the king commandeth the whole of the people, saying, `Make ye a passover to Jehovah your God, as it is written on this book of the covenant.'

22 N o fué hecha tal pascua desde los tiempos de los jueces que gobernaron á Israel, ni en todos los tiempos de los reyes de Israel, y de los reyes de Judá.

Surely there hath not been made like this passover from the days of the judges who judged Israel, even all the days of the kings of Israel, and of the kings of Judah;

23 A los diez y ocho años del rey Josías fué hecha aquella pascua á Jehová en Jerusalem.

but in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, hath this passover been made to Jehovah in Jerusalem.

24 A simismo barrió Josías los pythones, adivinos, y terapheos, y todas las abominaciones que se veían en la tierra de Judá y en Jerusalem, para cumplir las palabras de la ley que estaban escritas en el libro que el sacerdote Hilcías había hallado en la casa de Jehová.

And also, those having familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah, and in Jerusalem, hath Josiah put away, in order to establish the words of the law that are written on the book that Hilkiah the priest hath found in the house of Jehovah.

25 N o hubo tal rey antes de él que se convirtiese á Jehová de todo su corazón, y de toda su alma, y de todas su fuerzas, conforme á toda la ley de Moisés; ni después de él nació otro tal.

And like him there hath not been before him a king who turned back unto Jehovah with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses, and after him there hath none risen like him.

26 C on todo eso, no se volvió Jehová del ardor de su grande ira, con que se había encendido su enojo contra Judá, por todas las provocaciones con que Manasés le había irritado.

Only, Jehovah hath not turned back from the fierceness of His great anger with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh provoked him,

27 Y dijo Jehová: También he de quitar de mi presencia á Judá, como quité á Israel, y abominaré á esta ciudad que había escogido, á Jerusalem, y á la casa de la cual había yo dicho: Mi nombre será allí.

and Jehovah saith, `Also Judah I turn aside from my presence, as I turned Israel aside, and I have rejected this city that I have chosen -- Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name is there.'

28 L o demás de los hechos de Josías, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

And the rest of the matters of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

29 E n aquellos días Faraón Nechâo rey de Egipto subió contra el rey de Asiria al río Eufrates, y salió contra él el rey Josías; pero aquél así que le vió, matólo en Megiddo.

In his days hath Pharaoh-Nechoh king of Egypt come up against the king of Asshur, by the river Phrat, and king Josiah goeth out to meet him, and he putteth him to death in Megiddo, when he seeth him.

30 Y sus siervos lo pusieron en un carro, y trajéronlo muerto de Megiddo á Jerusalem, y sepultáronlo en su sepulcro. Entonces el pueblo de la tierra tomó á Joachâz hijo de Josías, y ungiéronle y pusiéronlo por rey en lugar de su padre.

And his servants cause him to ride dying from Megiddo, and bring him in to Jerusalem, and bury him in his own grave, and the people of the land take Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and anoint him, and cause him to reign instead of his father.

31 D e veintitrés años era Joachâz cuando comenzó á reinar, y reinó tres meses en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Amutal, hija de Jeremías de Libna.

A son of twenty and three years Jehoahaz in his reigning, and three months he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah,

32 Y él hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que sus padres habían hecho.

and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers did,

33 Y echólo preso Faraón Nechâo en Ribla en la provincia de Hamath, reinando él en Jerusalem; é impuso sobre la tierra una multa de cien talentos de plata, y uno de oro.

and Pharaoh-Nechoh bindeth him in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, from reigning in Jerusalem, and he putteth a fine on the land -- a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.

34 E ntonces Faraón Nechâo puso por rey á Eliacim hijo de Josías, en lugar de Josías su padre, y mudóle el nombre en el de Joacim; y tomó á Joachâz, y llevólo á Egipto, y murió allí.

And Pharaoh-Nechoh causeth Eliakim son of Josiah to reign instead of Josiah his father, and turneth his name to Jehoiakim, and Jehoahaz he hath taken away, and he cometh in to Egypt, and dieth there.

35 Y Joacim pagó á Faraón la plata y el oro; mas hizo apreciar la tierra para dar el dinero conforme al mandamiento de Faraón, sacando la plata y oro del pueblo de la tierra, de cada uno según la estimación de su hacienda, para dar á Faraón Nechâo.

And the silver and the gold hath Jehoiakim given to Pharaoh; only he valued the land to give the silver by the command of Pharaoh; from each, according to his valuation, he exacted the silver and the gold, from the people of the land, to give to Pharaoh-Nechoh.

36 D e veinticinco años era Joacim cuando comenzó á Reinar, y once años reinó en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Zebuda hija de Pedaia, de Ruma.

A son of twenty and five years Jehoiakim in his reigning, and eleven years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Zebudah daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah,

37 E hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que sus padres habían hecho.

and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers did.
