1 А след смъртта на Авимелех се издигна да избави Израел един мъж от Исахаровото племе, на име Тола, син на Фуя, син на Додо. Той живееше в Самир в Ефремовата хълмиста земя.

And there riseth after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,

2 И като беше съдия на Израел двадесет и три години, умря и беше погребан в Самир. Осми съдия - Яир

and he judgeth Israel twenty and three years, and he dieth, and is buried in Shamir.

3 А след него се издигна галаадецът Яир, който беше съдия на Израел двадесет и две години.

And there riseth after him Jair the Gileadite, and he judgeth Israel twenty and two years,

4 Т ой имаше тридесет сина, които яздеха на тридесет ослета; и имаха тридесет града, намиращи се в галаадската земя, които и до днес се наричат Яирови поселища.

and he hath thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which in the land of Gilead;

5 И Яир умря, и беше погребан в Камон. Девети съдия - Ефтай

and Jair dieth, and is buried in Kamon.

6 А израелтяните пак вършеха зло пред Господа, като служеха на ваалимите, на астартите, на сирийските богове, на сидонските богове, на моавските богове, на боговете на амонците и на боговете на филистимците, и изоставиха Господа и не Му се покланяха.

And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the Bene-Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake Jehovah, and have not served Him;

7 З атова Господ се разгневи против Израел и Той ги предаде в ръцете на филистимците и амонците.

and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,

8 О т този момент те измъчваха и притесняваха израелтяните в продължение на осемнадесет години. Притесняваха всички израелтяни, които бяха отвъд Йордан в земята на аморейците, която е в Галаад.

and they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year -- eighteen years all the sons of Israel are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which in Gilead.

9 О свен това амонците преминаха Йордан, за да воюват против Юда, Вениамин и Ефремовото племе. Така че Израел се намираше в крайно утеснение.

And the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.

10 Т огава израелтяните извикаха към Господа: Съгрешихме пред Тебе, защото оставихме нашия Бог и служихме на ваалимите.

And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, `We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.'

11 А Господ каза на израелтяните: Не ви ли избавих от египтяните, от аморейците, от амонците и от филистимците?

And Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, ` not from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?

12 С ъщо и когато сидонците, амаличаните и маонците ви притесняваха и извикахте към Мене, не ви ли избавих Аз от ръцете им?

And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;

13 В ъпреки това обаче вие Ме изоставихте и се покланяхте на други богове. Затова няма да ви избавям вече.

and ye -- ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.

14 И дете, викайте към боговете, които сте си избрали. Те нека ви избавят от утеснението ви.

Go and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they -- they save you in the time of your adversity.'

15 А израелтяните отговориха на Господа: Съгрешихме. Направи с нас, както Ти се вижда за добре. Само ни избави сега, молим Ти се.

And the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, `We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.'

16 И те премахнаха от себе си чуждите богове и служиха на Господа. И Неговата душа се смили над окаяното състояние на Израел.

And they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.

17 Т огава амонците се събраха и разположиха стан в Галаад. Събраха се и израелтяните и разположиха стан в Масфа.

And the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.

18 Н ародът и галаадските началници си казаха едни на други: Който пръв започне да се бие с амонците, той ще стане началник на всички галаадски жители.

And the people -- heads of Gilead -- say one unto another, `Who the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.'
