1 А Готолия, Охозиевата майка, като видя, че синът ѝ умря, стана и погуби целия царски род.

And Athaliah mother of Ahaziah, and she hath seen that her son dead, and she riseth, and destroyeth all the seed of the kingdom;

2 Н о Йосавеета, дъщеря на цар Йорам, сестра на Охозия, взе Йоас, Охозиевия син, и го открадна от царските синове, докато ги убиваха; и го скриха от Готолия в спалнята заедно с дойката му и не беше убит.

and Jehosheba daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, taketh Joash son of Ahaziah, and stealeth him out of the midst of the sons of the king who are put to death, him and his nurse, in the inner part of the bed-chambers, and they hide him from the presence of Athaliah, and he hath not been put to death,

3 Т ой остана при нея, скрит в Господния дом, шест години; а Готолия царуваше над земята.

and he is with her, in the house of Jehovah, hiding himself, six years, and Athaliah is reigning over the land.

4 Н о в седмата година Йодай прати и като взе стотниците на палачите и телохранителите, ги доведе при себе си в Господния дом. После, като сключи договор с тях и ги закле в Господния дом, им показа царския син.

And in the seventh year hath Jehoiada sent and taketh the heads of the hundreds, of the executioners and of the runners, and bringeth them in unto him, to the house of Jehovah, and maketh with them a covenant, and causeth them to swear in the house of Jehovah, and sheweth them the son of the king,

5 И им заповяда: Ето какво трябва да направите: една трета от вас, които постъпвате на служба в събота, нека пази стража при царската къща,

and commandeth them, saying, `This the thing that ye do; The third of you going in on the sabbath, and keepers of the charge of the house of the king,

6 е дна трета - при портата Сур, и една трета - при портата, която е зад телохранителите; така да пазите стража при къщата, за да не влезе никой.

and the third at the gate of Sur, and the third at the gate behind the runners, and ye have kept the charge of the house pulled down;

7 В сички вие и от двата отдела, които оставяте службата в събота, пазете стража при Господния дом около царя.

and two parts of you, all going out on the sabbath -- they have kept the charge of the house of Jehovah about the king,

8 И да окръжавате царя от всяка страна, като всеки държи оръжията си в ръка; а който би влязъл в редовете, да бъде убит; и да бъдете с царя при излизането му и при влизането му.

and ye have compassed the king round about, each with his weapons in his hand, and he who is coming unto the ranges is put to death; and be ye with the king in his going out and in his coming in.'

9 С тотниците извършиха всичко, както заповяда свещеник Йодай, и взеха всеки мъжете си - онези, които щяха да постъпят на служба в събота, и онези, които щяха да оставят службата в събота, - и дойдоха при свещеника Йодай.

And the heads of the hundreds do according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded, and take each his men going in on the sabbath, with those going out on the sabbath, and come in unto Jehoiada the priest,

10 С вещеникът даде на стотниците копията на цар Давид и щитове, които бяха в Господния дом.

and the priest giveth to the heads of the hundreds the spears and the shields that king David had, that in the house of Jehovah.

11 И телохранителите, всеки с оръжията си в ръка, стояха около царя, от дясната страна на дома до лявата му страна, около жертвеника и около дома.

And the runners stand, each with his weapons in his hand, from the right shoulder of the house unto the left shoulder of the house, by the altar and by the house, by the king round about;

12 Т огава Йодай изведе царския син, положи на него короната и му връчи божественото заявление. Направиха го цар и го помазаха; после изпляскаха с ръце и извикаха: Да живее царят!

and he bringeth out the son of the king, and putteth on him the crown, and the testimony, and they make him king, and anoint him, and smite the hand, and say, `Let the king live.'

13 А Готолия, като чу вика от телохранителите и народа, дойде при народа в Господния дом,

And Athaliah heareth the voice of the runners of the people, and she cometh in unto the people, to the house of Jehovah,

14 п огледна и видя, че царят стоеше при стълба, според обичая, и военачалниците и тръбите при царя, и целият народ на страната се радваха и свиреха с тръбите. Тогава Готолия раздра дрехите си и извика: Заговор! Заговор!

and looketh, and lo, the king is standing by the pillar, according to the ordinance, and the heads, and the trumpets, by the king, and all the people of the land are rejoicing, and blowing with trumpets, and Athaliah rendeth her garments, and calleth, `Conspiracy! conspiracy!'

15 С вещеникът Йодай заповяда на стотниците, поставени над силите: Изведете я вън от редовете и който би я последвал, убийте го с меч! Защото свещеникът беше казал: Да не бъде убита в Господния дом.

And Jehoiada the priest commandeth the heads of the hundreds, inspectors of the force, and saith unto them, `Bring her out unto the outside of the ranges, and him who is going after her, put to death by the sword:' for the priest had said, `Let her not be put to death in the house of Jehovah.'

16 И така, отстъпиха ѝ място; и тя отиде през пътя на конския вход в царската къща; и там беше убита.

And they make for her sides, and she entereth the way of the entering in of the horses to the house of the king, and is put to death there.

17 Т огава Йодай сключи завет между Господа и царя и народа, че ще бъдат Господен народ - също и между царя и народа.

And Jehoiada maketh the covenant between Jehovah and the king and the people, to be for a people to Jehovah, and between the king and the people.

18 И целият народ от земята влязоха във Вааловото капище и го събориха, изпотрошиха съвсем жертвениците му и кумирите му и убиха Вааловия жрец Матан пред жертвениците. И свещеникът постави надзиратели над Господния дом.

And all the people of the land go in to the house of Baal, and break it down, its altars and its images they have thoroughly broken, and Mattan priest of Baal they have slain before the altars; and the priest setteth inspectors over the house of Jehovah,

19 Т огава, като взе стотниците, палачите, телохранителите и целия народ от страната, изведоха царя от Господния дом; и дойдоха в царската къща през пътя към портата на телохранителите и той седна на царския престол.

and taketh the heads of the hundreds, and the executioners, and the runners, and all the people of the land, and they bring down the king from the house of Jehovah, and come by the way of the gate of the runners, to the house of the king, and he sitteth on the throne of the kings.

20 Т ака целият народ от страната се зарадва и градът се успокои; а Готолия убиха с меч при царската къща. Царуване на Йоас в Юдея

And all the people of the land rejoice, and the city quiet, and Athaliah they have put to death by the sword in the house of the king;

21 Й оас беше на седем години, когато се възцари.

a son of seven years is Jehoash in his reigning.
