1 И Господ говорѝ на Моисей:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

2 И зпратѝ мъже, за да съгледат Ханаанската земя, която Аз давам на израелтяните; да изпратите по един мъж от всяко племе на бащите им и всички да са от първенците между тях.

`Send for thee men, and they spy the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel; one man, one man for the tribe of his fathers ye do send, every one a prince among them.'

3 И така, според Божието повеление Моисей ги изпрати от Фаранската пустиня; всичките мъже бяха главни между израелтяните.

And Moses sendeth them from the wilderness of Paran by the command of Jehovah; all of them men, heads of the sons of Israel they are,

4 Е то имената им: от Рувимовото племе - Самуй, Закхуровият син;

and these their names: For the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur.

5 о т Симеоновото племе - Сафат, Хориевият син;

For the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori.

6 о т Юдовото племе - Халев, Ефониевият син;

For the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh.

7 о т Исахаровото племе - Игал, Йосифовият син;

For the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph.

8 о т Ефремовото племе - Осия, Навиновият син;

For the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea, son of Nun.

9 о т Вениаминовото племе - Фалтий, Рефуевият син;

For the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu.

10 о т Завулоновото племе - Гадиил, Содиевият син;

For the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi.

11 о т Йосифовото племе, от Манасиевото племе - Гадий, Сусиевият син;

For the tribe of Joseph, (for the tribe of Manasseh,) Gaddi son of Susi.

12 о т Дановото племе - Амиил, Гамалиевият син;

For the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli.

13 о т Асировото племе - Сетур, Михаиловият син;

For the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael.

14 о т Нефталимовото племе - Наавий, Вопсиевият син;

For the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vopshi.

15 о т Гадовото племе - Геуил, Махиевият син;

For the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.

16 Т ези са имената на мъжете, които Моисей изпрати, за да съгледат земята; и Моисей наименува Осия, Навиновия син, Исус.

These the names of the men whom Moses hath sent to spy the land; and Moses calleth Hoshea son of Nun, Jehoshua.

17 К ато ги изпрати да съгледат Ханаанската земя, Моисей им каза: Качете се по южната страна и се изкачете на хълмовете,

And Moses sendeth them to spy the land of Canaan, and saith unto them, `Go ye up this into the south, and ye have gone up the mountain,

18 и вижте каква е земята, и народът, който живее в нея, силен ли е или слаб, малко ли е или много;

and have seen the land what it, and the people which is dwelling on it, whether it strong or feeble; whether it few or many;

19 и каква е земята, на която той живее, добра ли е или лоша; и какви са градовете, в които той живее, от шатри ли са или са укрепени;

and what the land in which it is dwelling, whether it good or bad; and what the cities in which it is dwelling, whether in camps or in fortresses;

20 и каква е земята, плодовита ли е или постна, има ли по нея дървета или не. Бъдете смели и донесете от плодовете на земята. А тогава беше времето на първозрялото грозде.

And what the land, whether it fat or lean; whether there is wood in it or not; and ye have strengthened yourselves, and have taken of the fruit of the land;' and the days days of the first-fruits of grapes.

21 И така, те се качиха и съгледаха земята от Цинската пустиня до Роов при прохода на Емат.

And they go up and spy the land, from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob at the going in to Hamath;

22 П осле се изкачиха по южната страна и дойдоха до Хеврон, където живееха Енаковите синове Ахиман, Сесай и Талмай. (А Хеврон беше построен седем години преди Египетския Зоан.)

and they go up by the south, and come in unto Hebron, and there Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, children of Anak (and Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt),

23 И като дойдоха до долината Есхол, оттам отрязаха една лозова пръчка с един грозд, който двама носеха на върлина; взеха и нарове, и смокини.

and they come in unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down thence a branch and one cluster of grapes, and they bear it on a staff by two, also of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

24 О нова място бе наречено долина Есхол по причина на грозда, който израелтяните отрязаха оттам.

That place hath called Brook of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the sons of Israel cut from thence.

25 А на края на четиридесетте дни те се върнаха от съгледването на земята.

And they turn back from spying the land at the end of forty days.

26 Д ойдоха при Моисей, при Аарон и при цялото общество израелтяни във Фаранската пустиня, в Кадис, и дадоха отчет на тях и на цялото общество, и им показаха плода на земята.

And they go and come in unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto all the company of the sons of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and they bring them and all the company back word, and shew them the fruit of the land.

27 И му разказаха: Ходихме в земята, в която ни изпрати; и наистина там текат мляко и мед; ето и плода ѝ.

And they recount to him, and say, `We came in unto the land whither thou hast sent us, and also it flowing with milk and honey -- and this its fruit;

28 Н ародът обаче, който живее в земята, е силен и градовете са укрепени и много големи; там видяхме още и Енаковите синове.

only, surely the people which is dwelling in the land strong; and the cities are fenced, very great; and also children of Anak we have seen there.

29 А маличаните живеят в земята към юг; хетите, йевусейците и аморейците живеят по планините; а ханаанците живеят при морето и край бреговете на Йордан.

Amalek is dwelling in the land of the south, and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite is dwelling in the hill country, and the Canaanite is dwelling by the sea, and by the side of the Jordan.'

30 Н о Халев успокояваше народа пред Моисей, като казваше: Да вървим напред незабавно и да я завладеем, защото можем да я превземем.

And Caleb stilleth the people concerning Moses, and saith, `Let us certainly go up -- and we have possessed it; for we are thoroughly able for it.'

31 А мъжете, които бяха отишли заедно с него, казаха: Не можем да излезем против онзи народ, защото е по-силен от нас.

And the men who have gone up with him said, `We are not able to go up against the people, for it stronger than we;'

32 И представяха зле пред израелтяните земята, която бяха съгледали, като казваха: Земята, която обходихме, за да я съгледаме, е земя, която поглъща своите жители; и целият народ, който видяхме в нея, са много високи мъже.

and they bring out an evil account of the land which they have spied unto the sons of Israel, saying, `The land into which we passed over to spy it, is a land eating up its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in its midst men of stature;

33 Т ам видяхме исполините, Енаковите синове, от исполинския род; и пред тях на нас ни се виждаше, че сме като скакалци; такива се виждахме и на тях.

and there we saw the Nephilim, sons of Anak, of the Nephilim; and we are in our own eyes as grasshoppers; and so we were in their eyes.'
