1 А Рахил, като видя, че не раждаше деца на Яков, тя завидя на сестра си и каза на Яков: Дай ми деца, иначе ще умра.

And Rachel seeth that she hath not borne to Jacob, and Rachel is envious of her sister, and saith unto Jacob, `Give me sons, and if there is none -- I die.'

2 А Яков се разгневи на Рахил и каза: Нима съм аз, а не Бог, Който е лишил утробата ти от плод?

And Jacob's anger burneth against Rachel, and he saith, `Am I in stead of God who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?'

3 А тя отговори: Ето слугинята ми Вала, влез при нея и тя да роди на коленете ми, за да придобия и аз деца чрез нея.

And she saith, `Lo, my handmaid Bilhah, go in unto her, and she doth bear on my knees, and I am built up, even I, from her;'

4 И така, тя му даде слугинята си Вала за жена и Яков влезе при нея.

and she giveth to him Bilhah her maid-servant for a wife, and Jacob goeth in unto her;

5 И Вала зачена и роди син на Яков.

and Bilhah conceiveth, and beareth to Jacob a son,

6 Т огава Рахил каза: Бог отсъди за мене, послуша и гласа ми и ми даде син; затова го наименува Дан.

and Rachel saith, `God hath decided for me, and also hath hearkened to my voice, and giveth to me a son;' therefore hath she called his name Dan.

7 И Вала, слугинята на Рахил, пак зачена и роди втори син на Яков.

And Bilhah, Rachel's maid-servant, conceiveth again, and beareth a second son to Jacob,

8 Т огава Рахил каза: Силна борба водих със сестра си и надвих; затова го наименува Нефталим.

and Rachel saith, `With wrestlings of God I have wrestled with my sister, yea, I have prevailed;' and she calleth his name Napthali.

9 К огато Лия видя, че престана да ражда, взе слугинята си Зелфа и я даде на Яков за жена.

And Leah seeth that she hath ceased from bearing, and she taketh Zilpah her maid-servant, and giveth her to Jacob for a wife;

10 И Зелфа, слугинята на Лия, роди син на Яков.

and Zilpah, Leah's maid-servant, beareth to Jacob a son,

11 Т огава Лия каза: Щастие дойде, затова го наименува Гад.

and Leah saith, `A troop is coming;' and she calleth his name Gad.

12 И Зелфа, слугинята на Лия, роди втори син на Яков.

And Zilpah, Leah's maid-servant, beareth a second son to Jacob,

13 Т огава Лия каза: Честита съм, защото честита ще ме нарекат жените; затова го наименува Асир.

and Leah saith, `Because of my happiness, for daughters have pronounced me happy;' and she calleth his name Asher.

14 А през времето на пшеничената жътва Рувим, като излезе, намери мандрагорови ябълки на полето и ги донесе на майка си Лия. И Рахил каза на Лия: Я ми дай от мандрагоровите ябълки на сина ти.

And Reuben goeth in the days of wheat-harvest, and findeth love-apples in the field, and bringeth them in unto Leah, his mother, and Rachel saith unto Leah, `Give to me, I pray thee, of the love-apples of thy son.'

15 А тя ѝ отговори: Малко ли ти е, че си отнела мъжа ми, ами искаш да отнемеш и мандрагоровите ябълки на сина ми? Тогава Рахил ѝ каза: Като е така, нека спи с тебе тази нощ за мандрагоровите ябълки на сина ти.

And she saith to her, `Is thy taking my husband a little thing, that thou hast taken also the love-apples of my son?' and Rachel saith, `Therefore doth he lie with thee to-night, for thy son's love-apples.'

16 И така, когато Яков дойде вечерта от полето, Лия излезе да го посрещне и каза: Влез при мене днес, защото наистина те откупих с мандрагоровите ябълки на сина си. И той спа с нея онази нощ.

And Jacob cometh in from the field at evening; and Leah goeth to meet him, and saith, `Unto me dost thou come in, for hiring I have hired thee with my son's love-apples;' and he lieth with her during that night.

17 И Бог послуша Лия; и тя зачена и роди пети син на Яков.

And God hearkeneth unto Leah, and she conceiveth, and beareth to Jacob a son, a fifth,

18 Т огава Лия каза: Бог ми даде награда затова, че дадох слугинята си на мъжа си, затова го наименува Исахар.

and Leah saith, `God hath given my hire, because I have given my maid-servant to my husband;' and she calleth his name Issachar.

19 И Лия пак зачена и роди шести син на Яков.

And conceive again doth Leah, and she beareth a sixth son to Jacob,

20 Т огава Лия каза: Бог ми даде добър дар, сега мъжът ми ще живее с мене, защото му родих шестима синове, затова го наименува Завулон.

and Leah saith, `God hath endowed me -- a good dowry; this time doth my husband dwell with me, for I have borne to him six sons;' and she calleth his name Zebulun;

21 И после роди дъщеря, която наименува Дина.

and afterwards hath she born a daughter, and calleth her name Dinah.

22 С лед това Бог си спомни за Рахил. Бог я послуша и отвори утробата ѝ.

And God remembereth Rachel, and God hearkeneth unto her, and openeth her womb,

23 Т я зачена и роди син, и каза: Бог отне от мене позора.

and she conceiveth and beareth a son, and saith, `God hath gathered up my reproach;'

24 И го наименува Йосиф, като казваше: Господ да ми прибави и друг син. Забогатяването на Яков

and she calleth his name Joseph, saying, `Jehovah is adding to me another son.'

25 А след като Рахил роди Йосиф, Яков каза на Лаван: Пусни ме да си отида в моето място и в отечеството си.

And it cometh to pass, when Rachel hath borne Joseph, that Jacob saith unto Laban, `Send me away, and I go unto my place, and to my land;

26 Д ай ми жените и децата ми, за които съм ти работил, за да си отида, защото ти знаеш работата, която ти свърших.

give up my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and I go; for thou -- thou hast known my service which I have served thee.'

27 А Лаван му отвърна: Ако съм придобил твоето благоволение, остани, защото разбрах, че Господ ме е благословил заради тебе.

And Laban saith unto him, `If, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes -- I have observed diligently that Jehovah doth bless me for thy sake.'

28 К аза още: Кажи ми каква заплата искаш и ще ти я дам.

He saith also, `Define thy hire to me, and I give.'

29 А Яков му отговори: Ти знаеш как съм ти работил и как е бил добитъкът ти при мене.

And he saith unto him, `Thou -- thou hast known that which I have served thee, and that which thy substance was with me;

30 З ащото това, което имаше ти преди моето идване, беше малко, а сега нарасна и стана много. С моето идване Господ те благослови. Но сега искам да промисля и за своя дом.

for little which thou hast had at my appearance, and it breaketh forth into a multitude, and Jehovah blesseth thee at my coming; and now, when do I make, I also, for mine own house?'

31 А той каза: Какво да ти дам? Яков отговори: Не ми давай нищо; ако направиш каквото ти кажа, аз пак ще пазя и паса стадото ти;

And he saith, `What do I give to thee?' And Jacob saith, `Thou dost not give me anything; if thou do for me this thing, I turn back; I have delight; thy flock I watch;

32 щ е премина днес през цялото ти стадо и ще отлъча от него всяка капчеста и пъстра и всяка черникава между овцете, и всяка пъстра и капчеста между козите, те ще ми бъдат заплатата.

I pass through all thy flock to-day to turn aside from thence every sheep speckled and spotted, and every brown sheep among the lambs, and speckled and spotted among the goats -- and it hath been my hire;

33 И занапред, когато дойдеш да прегледаш заплатата ми, моята правота ще засвидетелства за мене - всяка коза, която не е капчеста и пъстра, и всяка овца, която не е черна, тя, ако се намери при мене, ще се смята за крадена.

and my righteousness hath answered for me in the day to come, when it cometh in for my hire before thy face; -- every one which is not speckled and spotted among goats, and brown among lambs -- it is stolen with me.'

34 А Лаван каза: Нека да бъде, според както си казал.

And Laban saith, `Lo, O that it were according to thy word;'

35 И така, същия ден Лаван отлъчи нашарените с линии и пъстрите козли, всички капчести и пъстри кози, всички, на които имаше бяло, и всички черни между овцете и ги предаде в ръцете на синове си,

and he turneth aside during that day the ring-straked and the spotted he-goats, and all the speckled and the spotted she-goats, every one that white in it, and every brown one among the lambs, and he giveth into the hand of his sons,

36 и определи тридневен път между себе си и Яков; а Яков пасеше останалите от Лавановите стада.

and setteth a journey of three days between himself and Jacob; and Jacob is feeding the rest of the flock of Laban.

37 Т огава Яков взе зелени пръчки от топола, от леска и от явор и изряза по тях бели ивици, така че да се вижда бялото по пръчките.

And Jacob taketh to himself a rod of fresh poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut, and doth peel in them white peelings, making bare the white that on the rods,

38 Т ези пръчки, по които беше изрязал белите ивици, сложи пред стадата в коритата, в поилата, където стадата идваха да пият; и като зачеваха, когато идваха да пият,

and setteth up the rods which he hath peeled in the gutters in the watering troughs (when the flock cometh in to drink), over-against the flock, that they may conceive in their coming in to drink;

39 т о стадата зачеваха пред пръчките; и стадата раждаха нашарени с линии, капчести и пъстри агнета.

and the flocks conceive at the rods, and the flock beareth ring-straked, speckled, and spotted ones.

40 И Яков отлъчваше агнетата и обръщаше лицата на овцете към нашарените и към всички черни от Лавановото стадо, а своите стада сложи отделно и не ги сложи с Лавановите овце.

And the lambs hath Jacob parted, and he putteth the face of the flock towards the ring-straked, also all the brown in the flock of Laban, and he setteth his own droves by themselves, and hath not set them near Laban's flock.

41 И когато по-силните овце зачеваха, Яков слагаше пръчките в коритата пред очите на стадото, за да зачеват между пръчките.

And it hath come to pass whenever the strong ones of the flock conceive, that Jacob set the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, to cause them to conceive by the rods,

42 А когато овцете бяха по-слаби, не ги слагаше; така че се падаха по-слабите на Лаван, а по-силните на Яков.

and when the flock is feeble, he doth not set; and the feeble ones have been Laban's, and the strong ones Jacob's.

43 Т ака човекът забогатя твърде много и придоби големи стада, слугини и слуги, камили и осли.

And the man increaseth very exceedingly, and hath many flocks, and maid-servants, and men-servants, and camels, and asses.
