1 С лед тези събития Господнето слово дойде на Аврам във видение и каза: Не бой се, Авраме; Аз съм твой щит, наградата ти е много голяма.

After these things hath the word of Jehovah been unto Abram in a vision, saying, `Fear not, Abram, I a shield to thee, thy reward exceeding great.'

2 А Аврам отвърна: Господи Йехова, какво ще ми дадеш, като аз си отивам бездетен и този Елиезер от Дамаск ще притежава дома ми?

And Abram saith, `Lord Jehovah, what dost Thou give to me, and I am going childless? and an acquired son in my house is Demmesek Eliezer.'

3 А врам каза още: Ето, Ти не ми даде дете; и, ето, един роден в дома ми ще ми стане наследник.

And Abram saith, `Lo, to me Thou hast not given seed, and lo, a domestic doth heir me.'

4 Н о Господнето слово дойде и му каза: Този човек няма да ти стане наследник; но онзи, който ще произлезе от тебе, ще ти бъде наследник.

And lo, the word of Jehovah unto him, saying, `This doth not heir thee; but he who cometh out from thy bowels, he doth heir thee;'

5 Т огава, като го изведе вън, каза: Погледни сега към небето и изброй звездите, ако можеш да ги изброиш. И му каза: Толкова ще бъде твоето потомство.

and He bringeth him out without, and saith, `Look attentively, I pray thee, towards the heavens, and count the stars, if thou art able to count them;' and He saith to him, `Thus is thy seed.'

6 И Аврам повярва в Господа; и Той му го вмени за правда.

And he hath believed in Jehovah, and He reckoneth it to him -- righteousness.

7 П осле му каза: Аз съм Господ, Който те изведох от Ур Халдейски, за да ти дам да наследиш тази земя.

And He saith unto him, `I Jehovah who brought thee out from Ur of the Chaldees, to give to thee this land to possess it;'

8 А той попита: Господи Йехова, по какво да позная, че ще я наследя?

and he saith, `Lord Jehovah, whereby do I know that I possess it?'

9 Г оспод му каза: Вземи ми тригодишна телица, тригодишна коза, тригодишен овен, гургулица и гълъбче.

And He saith unto him, `Take for Me a heifer of three years, and a she-goat of three years, and a ram of three years, and a turtle-dove, and a young bird;'

10 И той Му взе всички тези, разсече ги през средата и постави всяка половина срещу другата, но птиците не разсече.

and he taketh to him all these, and separateth them in the midst, and putteth each piece over against its fellow, but the bird he hath not divided;

11 И хищни птици се спуснаха на труповете; но Аврам ги разпъди.

and the ravenous birds come down upon the carcases, and Abram causeth them to turn back.

12 А около залез слънце Аврам изпадна в дълбок сън; и, ето, ужас и голям мрак го обзе.

And the sun is about to go in, and deep sleep hath fallen upon Abram, and lo, a terror of great darkness is falling upon him;

13 Т огава Господ каза на Аврам: Знай, че твоето потомство ще бъде чуждо в чужда земя и ще бъде поробено; и те ще го потискат четиристотин години.

and He saith to Abram, `knowing -- know that thy seed is a sojourner in a land not theirs, and they have served them, and they have afflicted them four hundred years,

14 Н о Аз ще съдя народа, на когото ще робуват; и след това ще излязат с голямо имущество.

and the nation also whom they serve I judge, and after this they go out with great substance;

15 А ти ще отидеш при бащите си в мир; ще бъдеш погребан в честита старост.

and thou -- thou comest in unto thy fathers in peace; thou art buried in a good old age;

16 А в четвъртия род потомците ти ще се върнат тук; защото беззаконието на аморейците не е още стигнало до върха си.

and the fourth generation doth turn back hither, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete.'

17 А когато слънцето залезе и настана мрак, ето, димяща пещ и огнен пламък, който премина между тези части.

And it cometh to pass -- the sun hath gone in, and thick darkness hath been -- and lo, a furnace of smoke, and a lamp of fire, which hath passed over between those pieces.

18 И в същия ден Господ сключи завет с Аврам, като каза: На твоето потомство давам тази земя, от Египетската река до голямата река, реката Ефрат,

In that day hath Jehovah made with Abram a covenant, saying, `To thy seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Phrat,

19 з емята на кенейците, кенезейците и кадмонейците,

with the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,

20 х етите, ферезейците, рафаимите,

and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,

21 а морейците, ханаанците, гергесейците и йевусейците.

and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.'
