1 Е то, възлюбени, пиша ви това второ послание; и в двете събуждам чрез напомняне вашия чист разум,

This, now, beloved, a second letter to you I write, in both which I stir up your pure mind in reminding,

2 з а да помните думите, изговорени отнапред от святите пророци, и заповедта на Господа Спасителя, дадена чрез изпратените при вас апостоли.

to be mindful of the sayings said before by the holy prophets, and of the command of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour,

3 П реди всичко знайте това, че в последните дни ще дойдат присмиватели, които с подигравките си ще ходят по своите страсти и ще казват:

this first knowing, that there shall come in the latter end of the days scoffers, according to their own desires going on,

4 К ъде е обещаното Му пришествие? Защото откакто са починали бащите ни, всичко си стои така, както от началото на създанието.

and saying, `Where is the promise of his presence? for since the fathers did fall asleep, all things so remain from the beginning of the creation;'

5 З ащото те своеволно не признават това, че чрез Божието слово от начало е имало небе и земя, сплотена от водата и всред водата,

for this is unobserved by them willingly, that the heavens were of old, and the earth out of water and through water standing together by the word of God,

6 н о пак посредством тях тогавашният свят, потопен от водата, загина.

through which the then world, by water having been deluged, was destroyed;

7 Т ака със същото слово и днешните небе и земя са натрупани за огън, пазени до деня на страшния съд и погибелта на нечестивите човеци.

and the present heavens and the earth, by the same word are treasured, for fire being kept to a day of judgment and destruction of the impious men.

8 О ще и това нещо да не забравяте, възлюбени, че за Господа един ден е като хиляда години и хиляда години - като един ден.

And this one thing let not be unobserved by you, beloved, that one day with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day;

9 Г оспод не забавя това, което е обещал, както някои смятат това за забавяне, но заради вас търпи дълго време, понеже не иска да погинат някои, а всички да дойдат до покаяние.

the Lord is not slow in regard to the promise, as certain count slowness, but is long-suffering to us, not counselling any to be lost but all to pass on to reformation,

10 А Господният ден ще дойде като крадец, когато небето ще премине с бучене, а стихиите нажежени ще се разпаднат и земята и каквото се е вършило по нея ще изчезнат.

and it will come -- the day of the Lord -- as a thief in the night, in which the heavens with a rushing noise will pass away, and the elements with burning heat be dissolved, and earth and the works in it shall be burnt up.

11 И така, понеже всичко това ще се разпадне, какви трябва да сте вие в свят живот и в благочестие,

All these, then, being dissolved, what kind of persons doth it behove you to be in holy behaviours and pious acts?

12 к ато очаквате и копнеете за идването на Божия ден, когато небето възпламенено ще се разпадне и стихиите нажежени ще се стопят!

waiting for and hasting to the presence of the day of God, by which the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and the elements with burning heat shall melt;

13 А според обещанието Му очакваме ново небе и нова земя, в която да живее правда. Призив към търпение

and for new heavens and a new earth according to His promise we do wait, in which righteousness doth dwell;

14 З атова, възлюбени, като очаквате тези неща, старайте се да бъдете чисти и непорочни пред Него, с мир в сърцата си.

wherefore, beloved, these things waiting for, be diligent, spotless and unblameable, by Him to be found in peace,

15 И смятайте дълготърпението на нашия Господ като средство за спасение; както възлюбеният ни брат Павел ви е писал, според дадената му мъдрост,

and the long-suffering of our Lord count ye salvation, according as also our beloved brother Paul -- according to the wisdom given to him -- did write to you,

16 к акто пише и във всичките си послания, когато говори в тях за тези работи; в които послания има някои неща, трудни за разбиране, които неучените и неутвърдените изопачават, както правят и с другите Писания, за своята погибел.

as also in all the epistles, speaking in them concerning these things, among which things are certain hard to be understood, which the untaught and unstable do wrest, as also the other Writings, unto their own destruction.

17 И така, вие, възлюбени, като сте предизвестени за това, пазете се да не би да се завлечете от заблуждението на беззаконните и да отпаднете от утвърждението си.

Ye, then, beloved, knowing before, take heed, lest, together with the error of the impious being led away, ye may fall from your own stedfastness,

18 Н о растете в благодатта и познаването на нашия Господ и Спасител Исус Христос. На Него да бъде слава и сега, и до вечния ден. Амин.

and increase ye in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; to him the glory both now, and to the day of the age! Amen.
