1 А Соломон се сроди с египетския цар фараон, като взе фараоновата дъщеря; царят я доведе да живее в Давидовия град, докато завърши съграждането на своя дом, на Господния дом и на стената около Йерусалим.

And Solomon joineth in marriage with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and taketh the daughter of Pharaoh, and bringeth her in unto the city of David, till he completeth to build his own house, and the house of Jehovah, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

2 Н о народът принасяше жертви по високите места, понеже до онова време нямаше дом, съграден за Господнето име.

Only, the people are sacrificing in high places, for there hath not been built a house for the name of Jehovah till those days.

3 И Соломон възлюби Господа и ходеше в повеленията на баща си Давид. Само че принасяше жертви и кадеше по високите места.

And Solomon loveth Jehovah, to walk in the statutes of David his father -- only, in high places he is sacrificing and making perfume --

4 Е дин ден царят отиде в Гаваон, за да принесе там жертва, защото това беше главното високо място. Соломон принесе хиляда всеизгаряния на онзи жертвеник.

and the king goeth to Gibeon, to sacrifice there, for it the great high place; a thousand burnt-offerings cause to ascend doth Solomon on that altar.

5 А в Гаваон Господ се яви на Соломон на сън през нощта. Бог му каза: Искай, каквото желаеш да ти дам.

In Gibeon hath Jehovah appeared unto Solomon, in a dream of the night, and God saith, `Ask -- what do I give to thee?'

6 А Соломон отговори: Ти показа голяма милост към слугата Си, баща ми Давид, понеже той ходи пред Тебе във вярност, правда и сърдечна правота спрямо Тебе. Ти си запазил за него тази голяма милост, че си му дал син да седи на престола му, както е днес.

And Solomon saith, `Thou hast done with Thy servant David my father great kindness, as he walked before Thee in truth and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with Thee, and Thou dost keep for him this great kindness, and dost give to him a son sitting on his throne, as this day.

7 С ега, Господи, Боже мой, Ти си направил слугата Си цар вместо баща ми Давид. А аз съм малко момче; не зная как да постъпвам.

And now, O Jehovah my God, Thou hast caused thy servant to reign instead of David my father; and I a little child, I do not know to go out and to come in;

8 С лугата Ти е сред Твоя народ, който Ти си избрал, народ многоброен, който поради множеството си не може да се изброи, нито да се пресметне.

and Thy servant in the midst of thy people, whom Thou hast chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude,

9 И така, дай на слугата Си разумно сърце, за да съди народа Ти, за да различава между добро и зло. Защото кой може да съди този Твой голям народ?!

and Thou hast given to Thy servant an understanding heart, to judge Thy people, to discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this Thy great people?'

10 Т ези думи бяха угодни на Господа, понеже Соломон поиска именно това.

And the thing is good in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon hath asked this thing,

11 И Бог му каза: Понеже ти поиска това, а не поиска за себе си дълъг живот, нито поиска за себе си богатство, нито поиска смъртта на неприятелите си, а поиска за себе си разум, за да разбираш правосъдие,

and God saith unto him, `Because that thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thee many days, nor asked for thee riches, nor asked the life of thine enemies, and hast asked for thee discernment to understand judgment,

12 е то, сторих според желанието ти. Дадох ти мъдро и разумно сърце, така че преди тебе не е имало подобен на тебе, нито след тебе ще се издигне подобен на теб.

lo, I have done according to thy words; lo, I have given to thee a heart, wise and understanding, that like thee there hath not been before thee, and after thee there doth not arise like thee;

13 А при това ти дадох и каквото не си поискал - и богатство, и слава, така че между царете няма да има подобен на тебе през всичките ти дни.

and also, that which thou hast not asked I have given to thee, both riches and honour, that there hath not been like thee a man among the kings all thy days;

14 А ко ходиш в Моите пътища и пазиш наредбите и заповедите Ми, както ходи баща ти Давид, тогава ще продължа дните ти.

and if thou dost walk in My ways to keep My statutes, and My commands, as David thy father walked, then I have prolonged thy days.'

15 С оломон се събуди и разбра, че това беше сън. След това дойде в Йерусалим и като застана пред ковчега на Господния завет, пожертва всеизгаряния, принесе мирни приноси и направи угощение за всичките си слуги. Соломон съди с мъдрост

And Solomon awaketh, and lo, a dream; and he cometh in to Jerusalem, and standeth before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and causeth to ascend burnt-offerings, and maketh peace-offerings. And he maketh a banquet for all his servants,

16 Т огава при царя дойдоха две блудници и застанаха пред него.

then come in do two women, harlots, unto the king, and stand before him,

17 Е дната жена каза: О, господарю мой! Аз и тази жена живеем в една къща. И аз родих, докато живеех с нея в къщата.

and the one woman saith, `O, my lord, I and this woman are dwelling in one house, and I bring forth with her, in the house;

18 А на третия ден, след като родих аз, роди и тази жена. Ние бяхме сами заедно, нямаше външен човек с нас в къщата, само ние двете бяхме вътре.

and it cometh to pass on the third day of my bringing forth, that this woman also bringeth forth, and we together, there is no stranger with us in the house, save we two, in the house.

19 И през нощта синът на тази жена умрял, понеже легнала върху него.

And the son of this woman dieth at night, because she hath lain upon it,

20 А тя, като станала посред нощ, взела сина ми от мене, докато слугинята ти спеше, и го сложила на своя скут, а своя мъртъв син сложила на моята пазва.

and she riseth in the middle of the night, and taketh my son from beside me -- and thy handmaid is asleep -- and layeth it in her bosom, and her dead son she hath laid in my bosom;

21 И призори, като станах, за да накърмя сина си, той беше мъртъв. Но на сутринта, като го разгледах, видях, че не беше моят син, когото бях родила.

and I rise in the morning to suckle my son, and lo, dead; and I consider concerning it in the morning, and lo, it was not my son whom I did bear.'

22 А другата жена каза: Не, живият е моят син, а мъртвият е твоят син. А първата жена каза: Не, мъртвият е твоят син, а живият е моят син. Така двете се препираха пред царя.

And the other woman saith, `Nay, but my son the living, and thy son the dead;' and this saith, `Nay, but thy son the dead, and my son the living.' And they speak before the king.

23 Т огава царят каза: Едната от вас казва: Този, живият, е моят син, а мъртвият е твоят син; а другата твърди: Не, мъртвият е твоят син, а живият е моят син.

And the king saith, `This saith, This my son, the living, and thy son the dead; and that saith, Nay, but thy son the dead, and my son the living.'

24 Ц арят нареди: Донесете ми меч. И донесоха меч пред царя.

And the king saith, `Take for me a sword;' and they bring the sword before the king,

25 И царят каза: Разделете на две живото дете и дайте половината на едната майка и половината на другата.

and the king saith, `Cut the living child into two, and give the half to the one, and the half to the other.'

26 Т огава онази жена, чието беше живото дете, каза на царя (защото сърцето ѝ я заболя за сина ѝ): О, господарю мой! Дай на нея живото дете и не го убивай. А другата каза: Нито мое да е, нито твое; разделете го.

And the woman whose son the living one saith unto the king (for her bowels yearned over her son), yea, she saith, `O, my lord, give to her the living child, and put it not at all to death;' and this saith, `Let it be neither mine or thine -- cut.'

27 Т огава царят отговори: Дайте на тази живото дете и не го убивайте. Тази жена е майка му.

And the king answereth and saith, `Give ye to her the living child, and put it not at all to death; she its mother.'

28 И целият Израел чу за съда, който царят отсъди. И се бояха от царя, защото видяха, че в него имаше Божия мъдрост, за да раздава правосъдие.

And all Israel hear of the judgment that the king hath judged, and fear because of the king, for they have seen that the wisdom of God in his heart, to do judgment.
