1 А ето народите, които Господ остави, за да изпита чрез тях Израел, всички тези, които не бяха влизали във всичките ханаански битки.

And these the nations which Jehovah left, to try Israel by them, all who have not known all the wars of Canaan;

2 О стави ги само за да знаят и да се научат на бой поне тези от поколенията на израелтяните, които от по-рано не са знаели. Остави:

(only for the sake of the generations of the sons of Israel's knowing, to teach them war, only those who formerly have not known them) --

3 п етимата началници на филистимците и всички ханаанци, сидонци и евейци, които живеят в Ливанската планина, от планината Ваал-ермон до прохода на Емат.

five princes of the Philistines, and all the Canaanite, and the Zidonian, and the Hivite inhabiting mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-Hermon unto the entering in of Hamath;

4 Т е служеха, за да бъде изпитан Израел чрез тях и да се разбере ще слушат ли заповедите, които Господ беше заповядал на бащите им чрез Моисей.

and they are to prove Israel by them, to know whether they obey the commands of Jehovah that He commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

5 С ъщо така израелтяните се заселиха между ханаанците, хетите, аморейците, ферезейците, евейците и йевусейците;

And the sons of Israel have dwelt in the midst of the Canaanite, the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite,

6 и вземаха дъщерите им за жени, даваха дъщерите си на синовете им и служеха на боговете им. Управление на съдиите в Израел (3: 7-16: 31) Първи съдия - Готониил

and take their daughters to them for wives, and their daughters have given to their sons, and they serve their gods;

7 И израелтяните извършиха зло пред Господа, като забравяха Господа, своя Бог, и служеха на ваалимите и на ашерите.

and the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and forget Jehovah their God, and serve the Baalim and the shrines.

8 З атова гневът на Господа пламна против Израел и Той ги предаде на месопотамския цар Хусанрисатаим; и израелтяните бяха под властта на Хусанрисатаим осем години.

And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of Chushan-Rishathaim king of Aram-Naharaim, and the sons of Israel serve Chushan-Rishathaim eight years;

9 А когато израелтяните извикаха към Господа, Той въздигна избавител на израелтяните, който ги спаси - Готониил, син на Кенез, по-младия брат на Халев.

and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, and Jehovah raiseth a saviour to the sons of Israel, and he saveth them -- Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother;

10 Д ух Господен дойде върху него и той беше съдия над Израел. Излезе и на бой и Господ предаде в ръката му месопотамския цар Хусанрисатаим; и ръката му надделя против Хусанрисатаим.

and the Spirit of Jehovah is upon him, and he judgeth Israel, and goeth out to battle, and Jehovah giveth unto his hand Chushan-Rishathaim king of Aram, and strong is his hand against Chushan-Rishathaim;

11 Т огава земята беше спокойна четиридесет години. И Готониил, Кенезовият син, умря. Втори съдия - Аод

and the land resteth forty years. And Othniel son of Kenaz dieth,

12 П ак израелтяните извършиха зло пред Господа; и Той укрепи моавския цар Еглон против Израел - вследствие на злото, което израелтяните извършиха пред Господа.

and the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah; and Jehovah strengtheneth Eglon king of Moab against Israel, because that they have done the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah;

13 Е глон събра при себе си амонците и амаличаните и отиде, порази Израел и завладя Града на палмите.

and he gathereth unto him the Bene-Ammon and Amalek, and goeth and smiteth Israel, and they possess the city of palms;

14 И израелтяните бяха под властта на моавския цар Еглон осемнадесет години.

and the sons of Israel serve Eglon king of Moab eighteen years.

15 А когато израелтяните извикаха към Господа, Той им въздигна за избавител Аод, син на вениаминеца Гира, мъж левак. По него израелтяните пратиха подарък на моавския цар Еглон.

And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, and Jehovah raiseth to them a saviour, Ehud son of Gera, a Benjamite (a man -- shut of his right hand), and the sons of Israel send by his hand a present to Eglon king of Moab;

16 А од си направи меч, остър и от двете страни, дълъг един лакът, и го опаса под връхната си дреха на дясното си бедро.

and Ehud maketh for himself a sword, and it hath two mouths (a cubit its length), and he girdeth it under his long robe on his right thigh;

17 И така, той поднесе подаръка на моавския цар Еглон. А Еглон беше много пълен човек.

and he bringeth near the present to Eglon king of Moab, and Eglon a very fat man.

18 И като поднесе подаръка и изпрати обратно хората, които носеха подаръка,

And it cometh to pass, when he hath finished to bring near the present, that he sendeth away the people bearing the present,

19 А од се върна от пограничните камъни, които са при Галгал, и каза: Имам да ти казвам нещо тайно, царю. А царят му отговори: Мълчи. И отпрати навън всички, които стояха при него.

and he himself hath turned back from the graven images which at Gilgal, and saith, `A secret word I have unto thee, O king;' and he saith, `Hush!' and go out from him do all those standing by him.

20 Т огава Аод се приближи към него; а царят седеше сам в лятната си горна стая. Аод каза: Имам дума от Бога за тебе. Тогава царят стана от стола си.

And Ehud hath come unto him, and he is sitting in the upper chamber of the wall which he hath for himself, and Ehud saith, `A word of God I have unto thee;' and he riseth from off the throne;

21 А Аод протегна лявата си ръка и като измъкна меча от страната на дясното си бедро, го заби в корема му

and Ehud putteth forth his left hand, and taketh the sword from off his right thigh, and striketh it into his belly;

22 д отам, че и дръжката влезе след желязото, а острието на меча излезе отзад. Аод не извади меча, защото толкова навътре беше влязло желязото, че тлъстината скри дръжката на меча.

and the haft also goeth in after the blade, and the fat shutteth on the blade, that he hath not drawn the sword out of his belly, and it goeth out at the fundament.

23 Т огава Аод излезе през преддверието, затвори след себе си вратата на горната стая и я заключи.

And Ehud goeth out at the porch, and shutteth the doors of the upper chamber upon him, and hath bolted;

24 К огато той излезе, дойдоха слугите на Еглон и като видяха, че вратата на горната стая беше заключена, си казаха: Вероятно царят е по нужда в лятната стая.

and he hath gone out, and his servants have come in, and look, and lo, the doors of the upper chamber are bolted, and they say, `He is only covering his feet in the inner chamber of the wall.'

25 Н о въпреки че чакаха, докато ги хвана срам, той не отваряше вратата на горната стая. Затова слугите взеха ключ, отвориха вратата и видяха, че господарят им лежеше мъртъв на земята.

And they stay till confounded, and lo, he is not opening the doors of the upper chamber, and they take the key, and open, and lo, their lord is fallen to the earth -- dead.

26 А докато те се бавеха, Аод избяга; премина пограничните камъни и се спаси в Сеирот.

And Ehud escaped during their tarrying, and hath passed by the images, and is escaped to Seirath.

27 И когато дойде, засвири с тръба в Ефремовата хълмиста земя и израелтяните слязоха с него от хълмистата земя, а той беше начело.

And it cometh to pass, in his coming in, that he bloweth with a trumpet in the hill-country of Ephraim, and go down with him do the sons of Israel from the hill-country, and he before them;

28 А од им каза: Вървете след мене, защото Господ ви предаде неприятелите ви, моавците. И те отидоха след него и като превзеха бродовете на Йордан към моавската страна, не оставиха да премине нито един човек.

and he saith unto them, `Pursue after me, for Jehovah hath given your enemies, the Moabites, into your hand;' and they go down after him, and capture the passages of the Jordan towards Moab, and have not permitted a man to pass over.

29 Т огава поразиха десет хиляди моавски мъже, всички едри и здрави; не се спаси нито един.

And they smite Moab at that time, about ten thousand men, all robust, and every one a man of valour, and not a man hath escaped,

30 Т ака в онова време Моав беше покорѐн от Израел. Тогава на земята имаше спокойствие осемдесет години. Трети съдия - Самегар

and Moab is humbled in that day under the hand of Israel; and the land resteth eighty years.

31 С лед Аод настана времето на Самегар, Анатовия син, който с един волски остен изби шестстотин мъже от филистимците; той също избави Израел.

And after him hath been Shamgar son of Anath, and he smiteth the Philistines -- six hundred men -- with an ox-goad, and he saveth -- he also -- Israel.
