1 А гладът се увеличаваше в страната.

And the famine severe in the land;

2 И като изядоха житото, което донесоха от Египет, баща им каза: Идете пак, купете ни малко храна.

and it cometh to pass, when they have finished eating the corn which they brought from Egypt, that their father saith unto them, `Turn back, buy for us a little food.'

3 А Юда му отговори: Човекът строго ни предупреди: Няма да видите лицето ми, ако брат ви не бъде с вас.

And Judah speaketh unto him, saying, `The man protesting protested to us, saying, Ye do not see my face without your brother with you;

4 А ко изпратиш брат ни с нас, ще слезем и ще ти купим храна;

if thou art sending our brother with us, we go down, and buy for thee food,

5 н о ако не го изпратиш, няма да слезем, защото човекът ни каза: Няма да видите лицето ми, ако брат ви не бъде с вас.

and if thou art not sending -- we do not go down, for the man said unto us, Ye do not see my face without your brother with you.'

6 А Израел запита: Защо ми сторихте това зло и казахте на човека, че имате и друг брат?

And Israel saith, `Why did ye evil to me, by declaring to the man that ye had yet a brother?'

7 А те отвърнаха: Човекът разпита подробно за нас и за рода ни, като ни каза: Баща ви жив ли е още? Имате ли и друг брат? И ние му отговорихме според тези негови думи. Откъде да знаем ние, че щеше да каже: Доведете брат си.

and they say, `The man asked diligently concerning us, and concerning our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye a brother? and we declare to him according to the tenor of these things; do we certainly know that he will say, Bring down your brother?'

8 Т огава Юда каза на баща си Израел: Изпрати детето с мен и да станем да отидем, за да живеем и да не измрем - и ние, ти и децата ни.

And Judah saith unto Israel his father, `Send the youth with me, and we arise, and go, and live, and do not die, both we, and thou, and our infants.

9 А з отговарям за него; от моята ръка го искай; ако не ти го доведа и не го представя пред тебе, тогава нека съм виновен пред тебе завинаги.

I -- I am surety him, from my hand thou dost require him; if I have not brought him in unto thee, and set him before thee -- then I have sinned against thee all the days;

10 П онеже ако не бяхме се бавили, без друго досега бихме се върнали втори път.

for if we had not lingered, surely now we had returned these two times.'

11 Т огава баща им Израел каза: Ако е така, това направете: вземете в съдовете си от най-хубавите плодове на нашата земя - малко балсам и малко мед, аромати и смирна, фъстъци и бадеми - и ги занесете подарък на човека.

And Israel their father saith unto them, `If so, now, this do: take of the praised thing of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts and almonds;

12 В земете двойно повече пари в ръцете си, върнатите в чувалите ви пари върнете с ръцете си: може да е станало грешка.

and double money take in your hand, even the money which is brought back in the mouth of your bags, ye take back in your hand, it may be it an oversight.

13 В земете и брат си и станете, и идете при човека.

`And take your brother, and rise, turn back unto the man;

14 А Бог Всемогъщий да ви даде да придобиете благоволението на човека, за да пусне другия ви брат и Вениамин. А аз, ако е казано да остана без деца, нека остана без деца.

and God Almighty give to you mercies before the man, so that he hath sent to you your other brother and Benjamin; and I, when I am bereaved -- I am bereaved.'

15 Т огава братята, като взеха този подарък, взеха двойно повече пари със себе си и Вениамин; и станаха и слязоха в Египет, и се представиха на Йосиф.

And the men take this present, double money also they have taken in their hand, and Benjamin; and they rise, and go down to Egypt, and stand before Joseph;

16 А Йосиф, като видя Вениамин с тях, каза на домакина си: Заведи тези хора в дома ми и заколи, каквото трябва, и приготви; защото те ще обядват с мене на пладне.

and Joseph seeth Benjamin with them, and saith to him who over his house, `Bring the men into the house, and slaughter an animal, and make ready, for with me do the men eat at noon.'

17 И човекът направи, каквото поръча Йосиф, и той въведе хората в Йосифовия дом.

And the man doth as Joseph hath said, and the man bringeth in the men into the house of Joseph,

18 А те се уплашиха затова, че ги поведоха в Йосифовия дом, и казаха: Заради парите, върнати в чувалите ни първия път, ни повеждат, за да намери повод против нас, да ни нападне и да зароби нас и ослите ни.

and the men are afraid because they have been brought into the house of Joseph, and they say, `For the matter of the money which was put back in our bags at the commencement are we brought in -- to roll himself upon us, and to throw himself on us, and to take us for servants -- our asses also.'

19 З атова те се приближиха към Йосифовия домакин и му говориха при вратата на дома, като казаха:

And they come nigh unto the man who over the house of Joseph, and speak unto him at the opening of the house,

20 П ослушай, господарю, слязохме първия път да си купим храна;

and say, `O, my lord, we really come down at the commencement to buy food;

21 а на връщане, когато дойдохме до мястото за пренощуване и отворихме чувалите си, ето, на всеки парите бяха в чувала му, всичките ни пари; затова ги донесохме обратно в ръцете си.

and it cometh to pass, when we have come in unto the lodging-place, and open our bags, that lo, each one's money in the mouth of his bag, our money in its weight, and we bring it back in our hand;

22 Д онесохме и други пари със себе си, за да купим храна; не знаем кой сложи парите ни в чувалите ни.

and other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food; we have not known who put our money in our bags.'

23 А той отвърна: Бъдете спокойни, не бойте се; Бог ваш и Бог на баща ви ви даде скритото в чувалите ви съкровище; аз получих парите ви. Тогава изведе при тях Симеон.

And he saith, `Peace to you, fear not: your God and the God of your father hath given to you hidden treasure in your bags, your money came unto me;' and he bringeth out Simeon unto them.

24 И домакинът въведе братята в Йосифовия дом и им даде вода да си измият краката; даде и храна за ослите им.

And the man bringeth in the men into Joseph's house, and giveth water, and they wash their feet; and he giveth provender for their asses,

25 А те приготвиха подаръка за Йосиф, преди да дойде на обяд; защото чуха, че там щели да ядат хляб.

and they prepare the present until the coming of Joseph at noon, for they have heard that there they do eat bread.

26 И когато Йосиф дойде у дома, поднесоха му вкъщи подаръка, който беше в ръцете им; и му се поклониха до земята.

And Joseph cometh into the house, and they bring to him the present which in their hand, into the house, and bow themselves to him, to the earth;

27 И след като ги разпита за здравето им, той каза: Здрав ли е баща ви, старецът, за когото ми говорихте? Жив ли е още?

and he asketh of them of peace, and saith, `Is your father well? the aged man of whom ye have spoken, is he yet alive?'

28 А те отговориха: Здрав е слугата ти, баща ни, жив е още. И се наведоха и се поклониха.

and they say, `Thy servant our father well, he is yet alive;' and they bow, and do obeisance.

29 К ато погледна, Йосиф видя едноутробния си брат Вениамин и попита: Този ли е най-младият ви брат, за когото ми говорихте? И каза: Бог да бъде милостив към тебе, сине мой.

And he lifteth up his eyes, and seeth Benjamin his brother, his mother's son, and saith, `Is this your young brother, of whom ye have spoken unto me?' and he saith, `God favour thee, my son.'

30 И Йосиф бързо се оттегли, защото сърцето му се развълнува за брат му; и като искаше да плаче, влезе в стаята си и плака там.

And Joseph hasteth, for his bowels have been moved for his brother, and he seeketh to weep, and entereth the inner chamber, and weepeth there;

31 П осле уми лицето си и излезе, и въздържайки се, каза: Сложете хляб.

and he washeth his face, and goeth out, and refraineth himself, and saith, `Place bread.'

32 Т огава сложиха отделно за него, отделно за тях и отделно за египтяните, които ядяха с него; защото не биваше египтяните да ядат хляб с евреите, понеже това е гнусота за египтяните.

And they place for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians who are eating with him by themselves: for the Egyptians are unable to eat bread with the Hebrews, for it an abomination to the Egyptians.

33 И насядаха пред него, първородният според първородството му и най-младият според младостта му; и хората се чудеха помежду си.

And they sit before him, the first-born according to his birthright, and the young one according to his youth, and the men wonder one at another;

34 Й осиф им пращаше от ястията си; а Вениаминовият дял беше пет пъти по-голям от дела на когото и да е било от тях. И те пиха, пиха изобилно с него.

and he lifteth up gifts from before him unto them, and the gift of Benjamin is five hands more than the gifts of all of them; and they drink, yea, they drink abundantly with him.
