1 Н о Сатана се повдигна против Израел и подбуди Давид да преброи Израел.

And there standeth up an adversary against Israel, and persuadeth David to number Israel,

2 И така, Давид каза на Йоав и на първенците от народа: Идете, пребройте Израел от Вирсавее до Дан и ми доложете, за да науча броя им.

And David saith unto Joab, and unto the heads of the people, `Go, number Israel from Beer-Sheba even unto Dan, and bring unto me, and I know their number.'

3 А Йоав отговори: Господ дано прибави на народа Си стократно повече, отколкото са! Но, господарю мой, царю, те всички не са ли слуги на господаря ми? Защо господарят ми желае това? Защо да стане причина за вина в Израел?

And Joab saith, `Jehovah doth add to His people as they are a hundred times; are they not, my lord, O king, all of them to my lord for servants? why doth my lord seek this? why is he for a cause of guilt to Israel?'

4 О баче царската дума надделя над Йоав. И така, Йоав тръгна и като обходи целия Израел, се върна в Йерусалим.

And the word of the king severe against Joab, and Joab goeth out, and goeth up and down in all Israel, and cometh in to Jerusalem.

5 Й оав доложи на Давид броя на преброения народ. И целият Израел беше един милион и сто хиляди мъже, които можеха да носят меч; а Юда - четиристотин и седемдесет хиляди мъже, които можеха да носят меч.

And Joab giveth the account of the numbering of the people unto David, and all Israel is a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand, each drawing sword, and Judah four hundred and seventy thousand, each drawing sword.

6 А между тях той не брои левитите и Вениаминовите синове; защото царската дума беше гнусна за Йоав.

And Levi and Benjamin he hath not numbered in their midst, for the word of the king was abominable with Joab.

7 Н о това нещо се видя зло пред Бога; затова Той порази Израел.

And it is evil in the eyes of God concerning this thing, and He smiteth Israel,

8 Т огава Давид каза на Бога: Съгреших тежко, като извърших това; но сега, моля Ти се, премахни беззаконието на слугата Си, защото направих голяма глупост.

and David saith unto God, `I have sinned exceedingly, in that I have done this thing; and now, cause to pass away, I pray Thee, the iniquity of Thy servant, for I have acted very foolishly.'

9 И Господ говорѝ на Давидовия ясновидец Гад:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Gad, seer of David, saying:

10 И ди, говорѝ на Давид: Така казва Господ: Три неща ти предлагам; избери си едно от тях, за да го извърша над теб.

`Go, and thou hast spoken unto David, saying, Thus said Jehovah, Three -- I am stretching out unto thee; choose for thee one of these, and I do to thee.'

11 И така, Гад дойде при Давид и му каза: Така казва Господ:

And Gad cometh in unto David, and saith to him, `Thus said Jehovah, Take for thee --

12 И збери си или тригодишен глад, или три месеца да гинеш пред неприятелите си, като те стига техният меч, или три дни да поразява Господният меч, т. е. мор по земята, като ангелът Господен погубва по всичките Израелеви предели. И така, сега виж какъв отговор да върна на Онзи, Който ме е пратил.

either for three years -- famine, or three months to be consumed from the face of thine adversaries, even the sword of thine enemies to overtake, or three days the sword of Jehovah, even pestilence in the land, and a messenger of Jehovah destroying in all the border of Israel; and now, see; what word do I return to Him who is sending me?'

13 Д авид отвърна на Гад: Намирам се много натясно; обаче по-добре да падна в ръката на Господа, защото Неговите милости са твърде много; а в ръката на човека да не попадна.

And David saith unto Gad, `I am greatly distressed, let me fall, I pray thee, into the hand of Jehovah, for very many His mercies, and into the hand of man let me not fall.'

14 И така, Господ прати мор върху Израел; и паднаха седемдесет хиляди мъже от Израел.

And Jehovah giveth a pestilence in Israel, and there fall of Israel seventy thousand men,

15 Б ог прати ангел в Йерусалим, за да го погуби; но когато започна да го погубва, Господ погледна и се разкая за злото, и каза на ангела, който погубваше народа: Стига вече; оттегли ръката си. И ангелът Господен стоеше при хармана на евусеца Орна.

and God sendeth a messenger to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he is destroying Jehovah hath seen, and is comforted concerning the evil, and saith to the messenger who destroying, `Enough, now, cease thy hand.' And the messenger of Jehovah is standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite,

16 А Давид, като погледна и видя, че ангелът Господен стоеше между земята и небето с гол меч в ръката си, прострян над Йерусалим, тогава Давид и старейшините, облечени във вретища, паднаха на лицата си.

and David lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the messenger of Jehovah standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, and David falleth, and the elders, covered with sackcloth, on their faces.

17 И Давид каза на Бога: Не заповядах ли аз да преброят народа? Наистина аз съм, който съгреших и извърших голямо зло; но тези овце какво са сторили? Над мене, моля Ти се, Господи Боже, нека бъде ръката Ти и над моя бащин дом, а не над Твоя народ, за да ги погуби.

And David saith unto God, `Did not I -- I say to number the people? Yea, I it who have sinned, and done great evil: and these, the flock, what did they? O Jehovah, my God, let, I pray Thee, Thy hand be on me, and on the house of my father, and not on Thy people -- to be plagued.'

18 Т огава ангелът Господен заповяда на Гад да каже на Давид да отиде и издигне жертвеник на Господа на хармана на евусеца Орна.

And the messenger of Jehovah spake unto Gad, saying for David, `Surely David doth go up to raise an altar to Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.'

19 И така, Давид излезе според думата, която Гад говори в Господнето име.

And David goeth up by the word of Gad, that he spake in the name of Jehovah.

20 И като се обърна Орна и видя ангела, четиримата му синове, които бяха с него, се скриха. (А Орна вършееше жито.)

And Ornan turneth back, and seeth the messenger, and his four sons with him, hiding themselves, and Ornan is threshing wheat.

21 И като идваше Давид към Орна, Орна погледна и го видя; и излезе от хармана и се поклони на Давид с лице до земята.

And David cometh in unto Ornan, and Ornan looketh attentively, and seeth David, and goeth out from the threshing-floor, and boweth himself to David -- face to the earth.

22 Т огава Давид му каза: Дай ми мястото, където е този харман, за да издигна на него жертвеник на Господа; дай ми го за пълна цена, за да престане язвата между народа.

And David saith unto Ornan, `Give to me the place of the threshing-floor, and I build in it an altar to Jehovah; for full silver give it to me, and the plague is restrained from the people.'

23 А Орна отговори на Давид: Вземи си го и нека господарят ми, царят, направи каквото му се вижда за добре; ето, давам воловете за всеизгаряне, диканите за дърва и житото за принос; всичко давам.

And Ornan saith unto David, `Take to thee -- and my lord the king doth that which is good in his eyes: see, I have given the oxen for burnt-offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for a present; the whole I have given.'

24 А цар Давид каза на Орна: Не, а непременно ще го купя с пълна цена; защото не искам да взема за жертва на Господа това, което е твое, нито ще принеса за всеизгаряне, без да платя.

And king David saith to Ornan, `Nay, for I surely buy for full silver; for I do not lift up that which is thine to Jehovah, so as to offer a burnt-offering without cost.'

25 И така, Давид даде на Орна за мястото шестстотин сикъла злато по теглилка.

And David giveth to Ornan for the place shekels of gold weight six hundred;

26 Т ам Давид издигна жертвеник на Господа и принесе всеизгаряния и мирни жертви, и призова Господа; и Той му отговори от небето с огън, паднал върху жертвеника за всеизгарянето.

and David buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, and offereth burnt-offerings and peace-offerings, and calleth unto Jehovah, and He answereth him with fire from the heavens on the altar of the burnt-offering.

27 Т огава Господ заповяда на ангела и той върна меча си в ножницата му.

And Jehovah saith to the messenger, and he turneth back his sword unto its sheath.

28 В онова време, когато Давид видя, че Господ го послуша на хармана на евусеца Орна, започна да принася там жертви.

At that time when David seeth that Jehovah hath answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificeth there;

29 З ащото в онова време Господнята скиния, която Моисей направи в пустинята, и жертвеникът за всеизгарянето бяха на високото място в Гаваон.

and the tabernacle of Jehovah that Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt-offering, at that time in a high place, in Gibeon;

30 Н о Давид не можеше да иде пред скинията да се допита до Бога, понеже се боеше от меча на ангела Господен.

and David is not able to go before it to seek God, for he hath been afraid because of the sword of the messenger of Jehovah.
