1 А Нееман, военачалникът на сирийския цар, беше човек велик и почитан пред господаря си, понеже чрез него Господ беше избавил Сирия; при това беше силен и храбър, но беше прокажен.

And Naaman, head of the host of the king of Aram, was a great man before his lord, and accepted of face, for by him had Jehovah given salvation to Aram, and the man was mighty in valour -- leprous.

2 А сирийците бяха излезли на чети и бяха довели от Израелевата земя една девойка пленница, която слугуваше на Неемановата жена.

And the Aramaeans have gone out troops, and they take captive out of the land of Israel a little damsel, and she is before the wife of Naaman,

3 Т я каза на господарката си: Ако господарят ми беше при пророка, който е в Самария, той би го изцелил от проказата му!

and she saith unto her mistress, `O that my lord before the prophet who in Samaria; then he doth recover him from his leprosy.'

4 Т огава Нееман влезе и съобщи на господаря си: Така и така каза девойката, която е от Израелевата земя.

And goeth in and declareth to his lord, saying, `Thus and thus she hath spoken, the damsel who from the land of Israel.'

5 С ирийският цар отговори: Стани, иди и ще пратя писмо до Израелевия цар. И така, Нееман отиде, като взе в ръката си десет таланта сребро, шест хиляди жълтици и десет премени дрехи.

And the king of Aram saith, `Go thou, enter, and I send a letter unto the king of Israel;' and he goeth and taketh in his hand ten talents of silver, and six thousand of gold, and ten changes of garments.

6 И донесе писмото на Израелевия цар, в което се казваше: Като пристигне това писмо до тебе, заедно с него пратих до тебе слугата си Нееман, за да го изцериш от проказата му.

And he bringeth in the letter unto the king of Israel, saying, `And now, at the coming in of this letter unto thee, lo, I have sent unto thee Naaman my servant, and thou hast recovered him from his leprosy.'

7 А Израелевият цар, като прочете писмото, раздра дрехите си и извика: Бог ли съм аз, за да умъртвявам и да съживявам, че праща до мене да изцеря човека от проказата му? И така, моля, разсъдете и вижте как търси повод за скарване с мен.

And it cometh to pass, at the king of Israel's reading the letter, that he rendeth his garments, and saith, `Am I God, to put to death and to keep alive, that this is sending unto me to recover a man from his leprosy? for surely know, I pray you, and see, for he is presenting himself to me.'

8 А Божият човек Елисей, като чу, че Израелевият цар раздрал дрехите си, прати до царя да кажат: Защо си раздрал дрехите си? Нека дойде сега при мен и ще разбере, че има пророк в Израел.

And it cometh to pass, at Elisha the man of God's hearing that the king of Israel hath rent his garments, that he sendeth unto the king, saying, `Why hast thou rent thy garments? let him come, I pray thee, unto me, and he doth know that there is a prophet in Israel.'

9 И Нееман дойде с конете и колесниците си и застана пред вратата на Елисеевата къща.

And Naaman cometh, with his horses and with his chariot, and standeth at the opening of the house for Elisha;

10 Е лисей прати до него човек да каже: Иди, окъпи се седем пъти в Йордан; и ще се обнови плътта ти и ще се очистиш.

and Elisha sendeth unto him a messenger, saying, `Go, and thou hast washed seven times in Jordan, and thy flesh doth turn back to thee -- and be thou clean.

11 А Нееман се разгневи и си отиде, като казваше: Ето, аз мислех, че той непременно ще излезе при мене, ще застане и ще призове името на своя Бог, ще положи ръката си върху мястото и така ще изцери прокажения.

And Naaman is wroth, and goeth on, and saith, `Lo, I said, Unto me he doth certainly come out, and hath stood and called in the name of Jehovah his God, and waved his hand over the place, and recovered the leper.

12 Р еките на Дамаск, Аван и Фарфар не струват ли повече от всички води на Израел? Не мога ли да се окъпя в тях и да се очистя? Затова той се обърна и си отиде много разгневен.

Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? do I not wash in them and I have been clean?' and he turneth and goeth on in fury.

13 А слугите му се приближиха и му казаха: Татко наш, ако пророкът ти беше заръчал нещо голямо, не би ли го извършил? И така, колко повече, като ти казва: Окъпи се и се очисти!

And his servants come nigh, and speak unto him, and say, `My father, a great thing had the prophet spoken unto thee -- dost thou not do ? and surely, when he hath said unto thee, Wash, and be clean.'

14 Т огава Нееман слезе и се потопи седем пъти в Йордан според думите на Божия човек; и плътта му се обнови като на малко дете и се очисти.

And he goeth down and dippeth in Jordan seven times, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh doth turn back as the flesh of a little youth, and is clean.

15 Т огава той се върна при Божия човек с цялата си дружина. Дойде, застана пред него и каза: Ето, сега узнах, че няма Бог в целия свят освен в Израел; затова, моля, приеми сега подарък от слугата си.

And he turneth back unto the man of God, he and all his camp, and cometh in, and standeth before him, and saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have known that there is not a God in all the earth except in Israel; and now, take, I pray thee, a blessing from thy servant.'

16 А Елисей отговори: Заклевам се в живота на Господа, на Когото слугувам, че не искам да приема. А той го принуждаваше да приеме, но пророкът отказа.

And he saith, `Jehovah liveth, before whom I have stood -- if I take;' and he presseth on him to take, and he refuseth.

17 Т огава Нееман каза: Ако не, то нека се даде, моля, на слугата ти товар за две мулета от тази пръст; защото слугата ти няма вече да принася нито всеизгаряне, нито жертва на други богове освен на Господа.

And Naaman saith, `If not -- let be given, I pray thee, to thy servant, a couple of mules' burden of earth, for thy servant doth make no more burnt-offering and sacrifice to other gods, but to Jehovah.

18 Г оспод да прости това на слугата ти, ако, когато господарят ми влиза в светилището на Римон, за да се поклони там, и се подпира на ръката ми, се навеждам и аз в светилището на Римон. Като се навеждам в светилището на Римон, Господ да прости това на слугата ти!

For this thing Jehovah be propitious to thy servant, in the coming in of my lord into the house of Rimmon to bow himself there, and he was supported by my hand, and I bowed myself the house of Rimmon; for my bowing myself in the house of Rimmon Jehovah be propitious, I pray thee, to thy servant in this thing.'

19 Е лисей му каза: Иди си с мир. И така, Нееман се отдалечи на известно разстояние.

And he saith to him, `Go in peace.' And he goeth from him a kibrath of land,

20 Н о Гиезий, слугата на Божия човек Елисей, си каза: Ето, господарят ми се посвени и не взе от ръката на този сириец Нееман това, което донесе; но в името на живия Господ аз ще се завтека след него и ще взема нещо от него.

And Gehazi, servant of Elisha the man of God, saith, `Lo, my lord hath spared Naaman this Aramaean, not to receive from his hand that which he brought; Jehovah liveth; surely if I have run after him, then I have taken from him something.'

21 И така, Гиезий се завтече след Нееман. А Нееман, когато видя, че той тича след него, скочи от колесницата да го посрещне и каза: Добре ли сте всички ?

And Gehazi pursueth after Naaman, and Naaman seeth one running after him, and alighteth from off the chariot to meet him, and saith, `Is there peace?'

22 Г иезий отвърна: Добре. Господарят ми ме прати да кажа: Ето, тъкмо сега дойдоха при мен от хълмистата земя на Ефрем двама младежи от пророческите ученици; дай им, моля, един талант сребро и дрехи за премяна.

And he saith, `Peace; my lord hath sent me, saying, Lo, now, this, come unto me have two young men from the hill-country of Ephraim, of the sons of the prophets; give, I pray thee, to them, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.'

23 Н ееман каза: Благоволи да вземеш два таланта. И като го принуди, върза двата таланта сребро в две чувалчета заедно с две премени дрехи и ги натовари на двама от слугите си, които ги носеха пред него.

And Naaman saith, `Be pleased, take two talents;' and he urgeth on him, and bindeth two talents of silver in two purses, and two changes of garments, and giveth unto two of his young men, and they bear before him;

24 К огато стигнаха до хълма, Гиезий ги взе от ръцете им и ги скри в къщата; после отпрати хората и те си отидоха.

and he cometh in unto the high place, and taketh out of their hand, and layeth up in the house, and sendeth away the men, and they go.

25 Т огава влезе и застана пред господаря си. Елисей му каза: Откъде идваш, Гиезий? А той отговори: Слугата ти не е ходил никъде.

And he hath come in, and doth stand by his lord, and Elisha saith unto him, `Whence -- Gehazi?' and he saith, `Thy servant went not hither or thither.'

26 Е лисей му каза: Не отиде ли сърцето ми с тебе, когато човекът се върна от колесницата си, за да те посрещне? Време ли е да приемеш пари и дрехи, маслини и лозя, овце и говеда, слуги и слугини?

And he saith unto him, `My heart went not when the man turned from off his chariot to meet thee; is it a time to take silver, and to take garments, and olives, and vines, and flock, and herd, and men-servants, and maid-servants?

27 З атова Неемановата проказа ще се залепи за теб и за рода ти до века. И Гиезий си тръгна от него прокажен, бял като сняг.

yea, the leprosy of Naaman doth cleave to thee, and to thy seed, -- to the age;' and he goeth out from before him -- leprous as snow.
