1 И зраелтяните отново извършиха зло пред Господа; и Господ ги предаде в ръката на Мадиам за седем години.

And the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth them into the hand of Midian seven years,

2 М адиам надделя над Израел; и заради мадиамците израелтяните си направиха онези ровове, които са по горите и пещерите, и укрепленията.

and the hand of Midian is strong against Israel, from the presence of Midian have the sons of Israel made for themselves the flowings which in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.

3 С лед като Израел посееше нивите, мадиамците, амаличаните и източните жители идваха и нападаха против него.

And it hath been, if Israel hath sowed, that Midian hath come up, and Amalek, and the sons of the east, yea, they have come up against him,

4 К ато разполагаха стан против тях, унищожаваха плода на земята чак до Газа и не оставяха храна на Израел, нито овца, нито говедо, нито осел.

and encamp against them, and destroy the increase of the land till thine entering Gaza; and they leave no sustenance in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or ass;

5 И дваха с добитъка и шатрите си, навлизаха в страната многобройни като скакалци; неизброими бяха и те, и камилите им, и навлизаха в земята, за да я опустошават.

for they and their cattle come up, with their tents; they come in as the fulness of the locust for multitude, and of them and of their cattle there is no number, and they come into the land to destroy it.

6 Т ака Израел изпадна в голямо униние заради мадиамците; затова израелтяните извикаха към Господа.

And Israel is very weak from the presence of Midian, and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah.

7 И когато израелтяните извикаха към Него заради мадиамците,

And it cometh to pass when the sons of Israel have cried unto Jehovah, concerning Midian,

8 Г оспод изпрати на израелтяните един пророк, който им каза: Така говори Господ, Израелевият Бог: Аз ви изведох от Египет и от дома на робството;

that Jehovah sendeth a man, a prophet, unto the sons of Israel, and he saith to them, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I -- I have brought you up out of Egypt, and I bring you out from a house of servants,

9 и ви избавих от египтяните и от всички, които ви потискаха, и като ги прогоних пред вас, ви дадох земята им.

and I deliver you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all your oppressors, and I cast them out from your presence, and I give to you their land,

10 И ви казах: Аз съм Господ, вашият Бог. Не почитайте боговете на аморейците, в чиято земя живеете. Вие обаче не послушахте гласа Ми.

and I say to you, I Jehovah your God, ye do not fear the gods of the Amorite in whose land ye are dwelling: -- and ye have not hearkened to My voice.'

11 Т огава ангел Господен дойде и седна под дъба, който е в Офра и принадлежеше на авиезереца Йоас; а синът му Гедеон чукаше жито в лина, за да го скрие от мадиамците.

And the messenger of Jehovah cometh and sitteth under the oak which in Ophrah, which to Joash the Abi-Ezrite, and Gideon his son is beating out wheat in the wine-press, to remove from the presence of the Midianites;

12 И ангелът Господен му се яви и му каза: Господ е с тебе, мъжо силни и храбри.

and the messenger of Jehovah appeareth unto him, and saith unto him, `Jehovah with thee, O mighty one of valour.'

13 А Гедеон му отговори: О, господарю, ако Господ е с нас, то защо ни връхлетя всичко това? И къде са всичките Му чудеса, за които бащите ни са ни разказвали: Не ни ли изведе Господ от Египет? Но сега Господ ни е изоставил и ни е предал в ръката на мадиамците.

And Gideon saith unto him, `O, my lord -- and Jehovah is with us! -- and why hath all this found us? and where all His wonders which our fathers recounted to us, saying, Hath not Jehovah brought us up out of Egypt? and now Jehovah hath left us, and doth give us into the hand of Midian.'

14 И Господ го погледна и му каза: Иди с тази твоя сила и ще освободиш Израел от ръката на мадиамците. Аз те изпращам.

And Jehovah turneth unto him and saith, `Go in this -- thy power; and thou hast saved Israel out of the hand of Midian -- have not I sent thee.'

15 А той Му възрази: О, Господи! С какво ще освободя Израел? Ето, моето семейството е най-незначителното в рода на Манасия и аз съм най-малък в бащиния си дом.

And he saith unto him, `O, my lord, wherewith do I save Israel? lo, my chief weak in Manasseh, and I the least in the house of my father.'

16 Н о Господ му каза: Аз ще бъда с теб; и ти ще поразиш мадиамците като един човек.

And Jehovah saith unto him, `Because I am with thee -- thou hast smitten the Midianites as one man.'

17 Т огава Гедеон каза: Моля Ти се, ако съм придобил Твоето благоволение, покажи ми знамение, за да зная Кой си Ти, Който говориш с мене.

And he saith unto Him, `If, I pray Thee, I have found grace in Thine eyes, then Thou hast done for me a sign that Thou art speaking with me.

18 М оля Ти се, не си тръгвай оттук, докато не се върна при Теб и не донеса приноса си, и не го положа пред Теб. А Той отговори: Ще чакам, докато се върнеш.

Move not, I pray Thee, from this, till my coming in unto Thee, and I have brought out my present, and put it before Thee;' and he saith, `I -- I do abide till thy return.'

19 Т огава Гедеон влезе и приготви яре и пресни пити от една ефа брашно. Месото сложи в кошница, а чорбата сипа в гърне и ги изнесе вън при Него под дъба, и ги представи.

And Gideon hath gone in, and prepareth a kid of the goats, and of an ephah of flour unleavened things; the flesh he hath put in a basket, and the broth he hath put in a pot, and he bringeth out unto Him, unto the place of the oak, and bringeth nigh.

20 И ангелът Божий му каза: Вземи месото и пресните пити и ги сложи на този камък, а чорбата излей. И той направи така.

And the messenger of God saith unto him, `Take the flesh and the unleavened things, and place on this rock -- and the broth pour out;' and he doth so.

21 Т огава ангелът Господен протегна жезъла, който държеше, и с края му докосна месото и пресните пити. От камъка излезе огън и изпепели месото и пресните пити. След това ангелът Господен си отиде пред очите му.

And the messenger of Jehovah putteth forth the end of the staff which in His hand, and cometh against the flesh, and against the unleavened things, and the fire goeth up out of the rock and consumeth the flesh and the unleavened things -- and the messenger of Jehovah hath gone from his eyes.

22 Г едеон, като видя, че това беше ангел Господен, каза: Горко ми, Господи Йехова! Защото видях ангела Господен лице в лице.

And Gideon seeth that He a messenger of Jehovah, and Gideon saith, `Alas, Lord Jehovah! because that I have seen a messenger of Jehovah face to face!'

23 А Господ му отговори: Мир на тебе, не бой се; няма да умреш.

And Jehovah saith to him, `Peace to thee; fear not; thou dost not die.'

24 И Гедеон издигна там жертвеник на Господа и го нарече Йехова-шалом. Той стои и до днес в Офра Авиезерова.

And Gideon buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, and calleth it Jehovah-Shalom, unto this day it yet in Ophrah of the Abi-Ezrites.

25 В същата нощ Господ му каза: Вземи бащиния си вол, втория вол, седемгодишния, и разруши Вааловия жертвеник, който се намира при баща ти, и съсечи ашерата, която е при него.

And it cometh to pass, on that night, that Jehovah saith to him, `Take the young ox which to thy father, and the second bullock of seven years, and thou hast thrown down the altar of Baal which to thy father, and the shrine which by it thou dost cut down,

26 П осле на върха на тази скала издигни жертвеник на Господа, твоя Бог, както му е редът, и вземи втория вол и го принеси за всеизгаряне, като използваш дървата от ашерата, която ще съсечеш.

and thou hast built an altar to Jehovah thy God on the top of this stronghold, by the arrangement, and hast taken the second bullock, and caused to ascend a burnt-offering with the wood of the shrine which thou cuttest down.'

27 И така, Гедеон взе десетина души от слугите си и направи, както Господ му каза. Но понеже се страхуваше от бащиния си дом и от градските жители, не го направи през деня, а през нощта.

And Gideon taketh ten men of his servants, and doth as Jehovah hath spoken unto him, and it cometh to pass, because he hath been afraid of the house of his father, and the men of the city, to do by day, that he doth by night.

28 А когато градските жители станаха на другата сутрин, видяха, че Вааловият жертвеник беше съборен и ашерата, която беше при него - отсечена, а вторият вол - цял изгорен на издигнатия жертвеник.

And the men of the city rise early in the morning, and lo, broken down hath been the altar of Baal, and the shrine which is by it hath been cut down, and the second bullock hath been offered on the altar which is built.

29 Т е си казаха един на друг: Кой е извършил това? И като разпитаха и издириха, разбраха, че Гедеон, Йоасовият син, е извършил тази работа.

And they say one to another, `Who hath done this thing?' and they inquire and seek, and they say, `Gideon son of Joash hath done this thing.'

30 Т огава градските жители казаха на Йоас: Изведи сина си да бъде умъртвен, понеже той е съборил Вааловия жертвеник и понеже е отсякъл ашерата, която беше при него.

And the men of the city say unto Joash, `Bring out thy son, and he dieth, because he hath broken down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the shrine which by it.'

31 А Йоас каза на всички, които бяха застанали против него: Вие ли ще защитите делото на Ваал? Или вие ще го спасите? Който защити неговото дело, нека бъде умъртвен още тази сутрин. Ако Ваал е бог, нека сам защити делото си, щом са съборили жертвеника му.

And Joash saith to all who have stood against him, `Ye, do ye plead for Baal? ye -- do ye save him? he who pleadeth for him is put to death during the morning; if he a god he himself doth plead against him, because he hath broken down his altar.'

32 З атова в същия ден той нарече сина си Йероваал, като казваше: Нека се съди Ваал с него, щом е съборил жертвеника му.

And he calleth him, on that day, Jerubbaal, saying, `The Baal doth plead against him, because he hath broken down his altar.'

33 Т огава всичките мадиамци, амаличани и източните жители се събраха заедно, преминаха реката и разположиха стан в долината Езраел.

And all Midian and Amalek and the sons of the east have been gathered together, and pass over, and encamp in the valley of Jezreel,

34 А Господният Дух дойде върху Гедеон и той засвири с тръба; и авиезерците се събраха да го последват.

and the Spirit of Jehovah hath clothed Gideon, and he bloweth with a trumpet, and Abi-Ezer is called after him;

35 П осле изпрати вестоносци до цялото Манасиево племе и те се събраха да го последват; прати вестоносци и до Асир, до Завулон и до Нефталим, а те дойдоха и ги посрещнаха.

and messengers he hath sent into all Manasseh, and it also is called after him; and messengers he hath sent into Asher, and into Zebulun, and into Naphtali, and they come up to meet them.

36 И Гедеон каза на Бога: Ако искаш да освободиш Израел с моята ръка, според както си казал,

And Gideon saith unto God, `If Thou art Saviour of Israel by my hand, as Thou hast spoken,

37 е то, аз ще сложа руно вълна на хармана. Ако падне роса само на руното, а цялата почва остане суха, тогава ще знам, че ще освободиш Израел с моята ръка, според както си казал.

lo, I am placing the fleece of wool in the threshing-floor: if dew is on the fleece alone, and on all the earth drought -- then I have known that Thou dost save Israel by my hand, as Thou hast spoken;'

38 Т ака и стана. Като стана рано на сутринта, той изстиска руното и от него потече роса. Събра се пълен леген с вода.

and it is so, and he riseth early on the morrow, and presseth the fleece, and wringeth dew out of the fleece -- the fulness of the bowl, of water.

39 Г едеон каза на Бога: Не се разгневявай против мен, аз ще проговоря само още веднъж, нека опитам, моля Ти се, само още веднъж с руното. Но сега нека остане сухо само руното, а по цялата почва нека падне роса.

And Gideon saith unto God, `Let not Thine anger burn against me, and I speak only this time; let me try, I pray Thee, only this time with the fleece -- let there be, I pray Thee, drought on the fleece alone, and on all the earth let there be dew.'

40 И същата нощ Бог направи така - само руното остана сухо, а по цялата почва падна роса.

And God doth so on that night, and there is drought on the fleece alone, and on all the earth there hath been dew.
