1 С лед смъртта на Исус израелтяните се допитаха до Господа: Кое племе първо ще влезе в бой против ханаанците?

And it cometh to pass, after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel ask at Jehovah, saying, `Who doth go up for us unto the Canaanite, at the commencement, to fight against it?'

2 Г оспод каза: Юда ще влезе в бой, ето, предадох земята в ръката му.

And Jehovah saith, `Judah doth go up; lo, I have given the land into his hand.'

3 Т огава Юда каза на брат си Симеон: Ела с мене в моята територия, за да воюваме против ханаанците, и аз ще отида с тебе в твоите предели. И Симеон отиде с него.

And Judah saith to Simeon his brother, `Go up with me into my lot, and we fight against the Canaanite -- and I have gone, even I, with thee into thy lot;' and Simeon goeth with him.

4 И така, Юда отиде на бой; Господ предаде ханаанците и ферезейците в ръката им и те поразиха десет хиляди мъже от тях във Везек.

And Judah goeth up, and Jehovah giveth the Canaanite and the Perizzite into their hand, and they smite them in Bezek -- ten thousand men;

5 И намериха Адонивезек във Везек, воюваха против него и поразиха ханаанците и ферезейците.

and they find Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fight against him, and smite the Canaanite and the Perizzite.

6 А Адонивезек побегна, но те го подгониха и го хванаха, и отсякоха палците на ръцете и краката му.

And Adoni-Bezek fleeth, and they pursue after him, and seize him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes,

7 А донивезек каза: Седемдесет царе с отсечени палци на ръцете и краката си са събирали трохи под трапезата ми; Бог ме наказа със същото, което аз съм правил. И го доведоха в Йерусалим, където и умря.

and Adoni-Bezek saith, `Seventy kings -- their thumbs and their great toes cut off -- have been gathering under my table; as I have done so hath God repaid to me;' and they bring him in to Jerusalem, and he dieth there.

8 Ю довите синове воюваха против Йерусалим и като го завладяха, поразиха го с острието на меча и опожариха града.

And the sons of Judah fight against Jerusalem, and capture it, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and the city they have sent into fire;

9 С лед това Юдовите синове слязоха, за да воюват против ханаанците, които живееха в хълмистата страна, в земята Негев и в Шефела.

and afterwards have the sons of Judah gone down to fight against the Canaanite, inhabiting the hill-country, and the south, and the low country;

10 Ю да отиде на бой и против ханаанците, които живееха в Хеврон (а предишното име на Хеврон беше Кириат-арва), и убиха Сесай, Ахиман и Талмай;

and Judah goeth unto the Canaanite who is dwelling in Hebron (and the name of Hebron formerly Kirjath-Arba), and they smite Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

11 и оттам нападнаха жителите на Девир (а предишното име на Девир беше Кириат-сефер).

And he goeth thence unto the inhabitants of Debir (and the name of Debir formerly Kirjath-Sepher),

12 Х алев каза: Който порази Кириат-сефер и го превземе, на него ще дам дъщеря си Ахса за жена.

and Caleb saith, `He who smiteth Kirjath-Sepher -- and hath captured it -- then I have given to him Achsah my daughter for a wife.'

13 П ревзе го Готониил, син на Кенез, по-малкия брат на Халев; и той му даде дъщеря си Ахса за жена.

And Othniel son of Kenaz, younger brother of Caleb, doth capture it, and he giveth to him Achsah his daughter for a wife.

14 И когато щеше да отиде при него, Готониил я накара да поиска от баща си земя. И така, като слезе от осела, Халев ѝ каза: Какво ти е?

And it cometh to pass in her coming in, that she persuadeth him to ask from her father the field, and she lighteth from off the ass, and Caleb saith to her, `What -- to thee?'

15 А тя му отговори: Благослови ме; понеже си ми дал земя в Негев, дай ми и водни извори. И Халев ѝ даде горните и долните извори.

And she saith to him, `Give to me a blessing; when the south land thou hast given me -- then thou hast given to me springs of water; and Caleb giveth to her the upper springs and the lower springs.

16 И потомците на кенееца, Моисеевия тъст, отидоха от Града на палмите, заедно с Юдовите синове, в Юдейската пустиня, която е на юг от Арад, и се заселиха сред местните жители.

And the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, have gone up out of the city of palms with the sons of Judah the wilderness of Judah, which in the south of Arad, and they go and dwell with the people.

17 Т огава Юда отиде с брат си Симеон и поразиха ханаанците, които живееха в Сефат; и обрекоха града на изтребление; и градът бе наречен Орма.

And Judah goeth with Simeon his brother, and they smite the Canaanite inhabiting Zephath, and devote it; and calleth the name of the city Hormah.

18 Ю да завладя и Газа с околностите му, Аскалон с околностите му и Акарон с околностите му.

And Judah captureth Gaza and its border, and Askelon and its border, and Ekron and its border;

19 Г оспод беше с Юда; и той изгони жителите на хълмистата страна, обаче не изгони жителите и на долината, защото имаха железни колесници.

and Jehovah is with Judah, and he occupieth the hill-country, but not to dispossess the inhabitants of the valley, for they have chariots of iron.

20 И дадоха Хеврон на Халев, както Моисей беше казал; и той изгони оттам тримата Енакими.

And they give to Caleb Hebron, as Moses hath spoken, and he dispossesseth thence the three sons of Anak.

21 А Вениаминовите синове не изгониха йевусейците, които населяваха Йерусалим, а йевусейците живееха в Йерусалим заедно с Вениаминовите синове, както живеят и до днес.

And the Jebusite, inhabiting Jerusalem, the sons of Benjamin have not dispossessed; and the Jebusite dwelleth with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, till this day.

22 С ъщо и Йосифовите потомци, и те отидоха против Ветил; и Господ беше с тях.

And the house of Joseph go up -- even they -- to Beth-El, and Jehovah with them;

23 Й осифовите потомци пратиха съгледвачи да съгледат Ветил (а предишното име на града беше Луз).

and the house of Joseph cause to spy about Beth-El (and the name of the city formerly is Luz),

24 И съгледвачите видяха един човек, който излизаше от града, и му казаха: Покажи ни входа на града и ще те помилваме.

and the watchers see a man coming out from the city, and say to him, `Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance of the city, and we have done with thee kindness.'

25 Т ой им показа входа на града и те поразиха града с острието на меча, а човека оставиха да излезе с цялото си семейство.

And he sheweth them the entrance of the city, and they smite the city by the mouth of the sword, and the man and all his family they have sent away;

26 И човекът отиде в Хетската земя, където и основа град и го нарече Луз, както е името му и до днес.

and the man goeth to the land of the Hittites, and buildeth a city, and calleth its name Luz -- it its name unto this day.

27 М анасия не изгони жителите на Ветсан и на селата му, нито на Таанах и на селата му, нито жителите на Дор и на селата му, нито жителите на Ивлеам и на селата му, нито жителите на Магедон и на селата му; но ханаанците настояваха да живеят в онази земя.

And Manasseh hath not occupied Beth-Shean and its towns, and Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Iblaim and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in that land;

28 А Израел, когато се укрепи, наложи на ханаанците данък, без напълно да ги изгони.

and it cometh to pass, when Israel hath been strong, that he setteth the Canaanite to tribute, and hath not utterly dispossessed it.

29 Н ито Ефрем изгони ханаанците, които живееха в Гезер; а ханаанците живееха в Гезер между тях.

And Ephraim hath not dispossessed the Canaanite who is dwelling in Gezer, and the Canaanite dwelleth in its midst, in Gezer.

30 З авулон също не изгони жителите на Китрон, нито жителите на Наалол; а ханаанците живееха между тях и бяха обложени с данък.

Zebulun hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Kitron, and the inhabitants of Nahalol, and the Canaanite dwelleth in its midst, and they become tributary.

31 А сир не изгони жителите на Акхо, нито жителите на Сидон, нито на Ахлав, нито на Ахзив, нито на Хелва, нито на Афек, нито на Роов;

Asher hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Accho, and the inhabitants of Zidon, and Ahlab, and Achzib, and Helbah, and Aphik, and Rehob;

32 а Асировите синове живееха сред ханаанците, местните жители, защото не ги изгониха.

and the Asherite dwelleth in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land, for it hath not dispossessed them.

33 Н ефталим не изгони жителите на Ветсемес, нито жителите на Ветенат, а живееше сред ханаанците, местните жители; обаче жителите на Ветсемес и Ветенат му плащаха данък.

Naphtali hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh, and the inhabitants of Beth-Anath, and he dwelleth in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land; and the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh and of Beth-Anath have become tributary to them.

34 И аморейците принудиха Дановите синове да се оттеглят в хълмистата страна и не им позволяваха да слизат в долината;

And the Amorites press the sons of Dan to the mountain, for they have not suffered them to go down to the valley;

35 н о аморейците настояваха да живеят в гората Ерес, в Еалон и в Саалвим. Но независимо от това Йосифовите потомци надделяха, така че онези бяха обложени с данък.

and the Amorite is desirous to dwell in mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and the hand of the house of Joseph is heavy, and they become tributary;

36 А територията на аморейците беше от възвишението Акравим, от скалата и нагоре.

and the border of the Amorite from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock and upward.
