1 А Соломон се сроди с египетския цар Фараона, като взе Фараоновата дъщеря; и доведе я <да живее> в Давидовия град догде да свърши съграждането на своя дом, и на Господния дом и на стената около Ерусалим.

And Solomon joineth in marriage with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and taketh the daughter of Pharaoh, and bringeth her in unto the city of David, till he completeth to build his own house, and the house of Jehovah, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

2 Н о людете жертвуваха по високите места, понеже до онова време нямаше дом съграден за Господното име.

Only, the people are sacrificing in high places, for there hath not been built a house for the name of Jehovah till those days.

3 И Соломон възлюби Господа, и ходеше в повеленията на баща си Давида; само че жертвуваше и кадеше по високите места.

And Solomon loveth Jehovah, to walk in the statutes of David his father -- only, in high places he is sacrificing and making perfume --

4 И царят отиде в Гаваон, за да принесе там жертва, защото това бе главното високо място; хиляда всеизгаряния принесе Соломон на оня олтар.

and the king goeth to Gibeon, to sacrifice there, for it the great high place; a thousand burnt-offerings cause to ascend doth Solomon on that altar.

5 А в Гаваон Господ се яви на Соломона на сън през нощта; и рече Бог: Искай какво да ти дам.

In Gibeon hath Jehovah appeared unto Solomon, in a dream of the night, and God saith, `Ask -- what do I give to thee?'

6 А Соломон каза: Ти показа голяма милост към слугата Си баща ми Давида, понеже той ходи пред Тебе във вярност, в правда и в сърдечна правота с Тебе; и Ти си запазил за него тая голяма милост, че си му дал син да седи на престола му, както е днес.

And Solomon saith, `Thou hast done with Thy servant David my father great kindness, as he walked before Thee in truth and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with Thee, and Thou dost keep for him this great kindness, and dost give to him a son sitting on his throne, as this day.

7 И сега, Господи Боже мой, Ти си направил слугата Си цар вместо баща ми Давида; а аз съм малко момче; не зная как да се обхождам {Еврейски: Да излизам и да влизам.}.

And now, O Jehovah my God, Thou hast caused thy servant to reign instead of David my father; and I a little child, I do not know to go out and to come in;

8 И слугата Ти е всред Твоите люде които Ти си избрал, люде много, които поради множеството си не могат да се изброят, нито да се пресметнат.

and Thy servant in the midst of thy people, whom Thou hast chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude,

9 Д ай, прочее, на слугата Си разумно сърце, за да съди людете Ти, за да различава между добро и зло; защото кой може да съди тоя Твой голям народ;

and Thou hast given to Thy servant an understanding heart, to judge Thy people, to discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this Thy great people?'

10 И тия думи бяха угодни Господу, понеже Соломон поиска това нещо.

And the thing is good in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon hath asked this thing,

11 И Бог му каза: Понеже ти поиска това нещо, и не поиска за себе си дълъг живот, нито поиска за себе си богатство, нито поиска смъртта на неприятелите си, но поиска за себе си разум за да разбираш правосъдие,

and God saith unto him, `Because that thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thee many days, nor asked for thee riches, nor asked the life of thine enemies, and hast asked for thee discernment to understand judgment,

12 е то, сторих според както си казал; ето, дадох ти мъдро и разумно сърце, така щото преди тебе не е имало подобен на тебе, нито подир тебе ще се издигне подобен на тебе.

lo, I have done according to thy words; lo, I have given to thee a heart, wise and understanding, that like thee there hath not been before thee, and after thee there doth not arise like thee;

13 А при това ти дадох каквото не си поискал - и богатство и слава, така щото между царете не ще има подобен на тебе през всичките ти дни.

and also, that which thou hast not asked I have given to thee, both riches and honour, that there hath not been like thee a man among the kings all thy days;

14 И ако ходиш в Моите пътища, и пазиш повеленията Ми и заповедите Ми, както ходи баща ти Давид, тогава ще продължа дните ти.

and if thou dost walk in My ways to keep My statutes, and My commands, as David thy father walked, then I have prolonged thy days.'

15 И събуди се Соломон; и, ето, бе сън. След това, дойде в Ерусалим и като застана пред ковчега на Господния завет, пожертвува всеизгаряния и принесе примирителни приноси; направи и угощение на всичките си слуги.

And Solomon awaketh, and lo, a dream; and he cometh in to Jerusalem, and standeth before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and causeth to ascend burnt-offerings, and maketh peace-offerings. And he maketh a banquet for all his servants,

16 Т огава дойдоха при царя две блудници та застанаха пред него.

then come in do two women, harlots, unto the king, and stand before him,

17 И едната жена рече: О, господарю мой! аз и тая жена живеем в една къща; и аз родих <като живеех> с нея в къщата.

and the one woman saith, `O, my lord, I and this woman are dwelling in one house, and I bring forth with her, in the house;

18 И на третия ден, откак родих аз, роди и тая жена; и ние бяхме <сами> заедно, нямаше външен човек с нас в къщата, само ние двете бяхме в къщата.

and it cometh to pass on the third day of my bringing forth, that this woman also bringeth forth, and we together, there is no stranger with us in the house, save we two, in the house.

19 И през нощта умрял синът на тая жена, понеже го налегнала.

And the son of this woman dieth at night, because she hath lain upon it,

20 А тя, като станала посред нощ, взела сина ми от при мене, когато слугинята ти спеше, та го турила на своята пазуха, а своя мъртъв син турила на моята пазуха.

and she riseth in the middle of the night, and taketh my son from beside me -- and thy handmaid is asleep -- and layeth it in her bosom, and her dead son she hath laid in my bosom;

21 И в зори като станах, за да накърмя сина си, ето, той бе мъртъв; но на утринта, като го разгледах, ето, не бе моят син, когото бях родила.

and I rise in the morning to suckle my son, and lo, dead; and I consider concerning it in the morning, and lo, it was not my son whom I did bear.'

22 А другата жена рече: Не, но живият е моят син, и мъртвият е твоят син. А тая рече: Не, но мъртвият е твоят син, а живият е моят син. Така говориха пред царя.

And the other woman saith, `Nay, but my son the living, and thy son the dead;' and this saith, `Nay, but thy son the dead, and my son the living.' And they speak before the king.

23 Т огава царят рече: Едната казва: Тоя живият е моят син, а мъртвият е твоят син; а другата казва: Не, но мъртвият е твоят син, а живият е моят син.

And the king saith, `This saith, This my son, the living, and thy son the dead; and that saith, Nay, but thy son the dead, and my son the living.'

24 И царят рече: Донесете ми нож. И донесоха нож пред царя.

And the king saith, `Take for me a sword;' and they bring the sword before the king,

25 И царят рече: Разделете на две живото дете, и дайте половината на едната и половината на другата.

and the king saith, `Cut the living child into two, and give the half to the one, and the half to the other.'

26 Т огава оная жена, чието беше живото дете, говори на царя (защото сърцето й я заболя за сина й), казвайки: О господарю мой! дай й живото дете, и недей го убива. А другата рече: Нито мое да е, нито твое; разделете го.

And the woman whose son the living one saith unto the king (for her bowels yearned over her son), yea, she saith, `O, my lord, give to her the living child, and put it not at all to death;' and this saith, `Let it be neither mine or thine -- cut.'

27 Т огава царят в отговор рече: Дайте на тая живото дете, и недейте го убива; тя е майка му.

And the king answereth and saith, `Give ye to her the living child, and put it not at all to death; she its mother.'

28 И целият Израил чу за съда който царят отсъди; и бояха се от царя, защото видяха, че Божия мъдрост имаше в него, за да раздава правосъдие.

And all Israel hear of the judgment that the king hath judged, and fear because of the king, for they have seen that the wisdom of God in his heart, to do judgment.
