1 D upă Abimelec, s'a sculat Tola, fiul lui Pua, fiul lui Dodo, bărbat din Isahar, ca să izbăvească pe Israel; el locuia la Şamir, în muntele lui Efraim.

And there riseth after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,

2 T ola a fost judecător în Israel douăzeci şi trei de ani; apoi a murit, şi a fost îngropat la Şamir.

and he judgeth Israel twenty and three years, and he dieth, and is buried in Shamir.

3 D upă el, s'a sculat Iair, Galaaditul, care a fost judecător în Israel douăzeci şi doi de ani.

And there riseth after him Jair the Gileadite, and he judgeth Israel twenty and two years,

4 E l avea treizeci de fii, cari călăreau pe treizeci de mînji de măgari, şi stăpîneau treizeci de cetăţi, numite şi azi cetăţile lui Iair, şi aşezate în ţara Galaadului.

and he hath thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which in the land of Gilead;

5 Ş i Iair a murit, şi a fost îngropat la Camon.

and Jair dieth, and is buried in Kamon.

6 C opiii lui Israel au făcut iarăş ce nu plăcea Domnului; au slujit Baalilor şi Astarteelor, dumnezeilor Siriei, dumnezeilor Sidonului, dumnezeilor Moabului, dumnezeilor fiilor lui Amon, şi dumnezeilor Filistenilor, şi au părăsit pe Domnul, şi nu I-au mai slujit.

And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the Bene-Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake Jehovah, and have not served Him;

7 D omnul S'a aprins de mînie împotriva lui Israel, şi i -a vîndut în mînile Filistenilor şi în mînile fiilor lui Amon.

and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,

8 E i au apăsat şi au asuprit pe copiii lui Israel în vremea aceea optsprezece ani, şi anume: pe toţi copiii lui Israel cari erau de cealaltă parte a Iordanului în ţara Amoriţilor în Galaad.

and they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year -- eighteen years all the sons of Israel are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which in Gilead.

9 F iii lui Amon au trecut Iordanul ca să se bată şi împotriva lui Iuda, împotriva lui Beniamin şi împotriva casei lui Efraim. Şi Israel era într'o mare strîmtorare.

And the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.

10 C opiii lui Israel au strigat către Domnul, şi au zis:,, Am păcătuit împotriva Ta, căci am părăsit pe Dumnezeul nostru şi am slujit Baalilor.``

And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, `We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.'

11 D omnul a zis copiilor lui Israel:,, Nu v'am izbăvit Eu de Egipteni, de Amoriţi, de fiii lui Amon, şi de Filisteni?

And Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, ` not from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?

12 Ş i cînd v'au apăsat Sidoniţii, Amalec şi Maon, şi aţi strigat către Mine, nu v'am izbăvit Eu din mînile lor?

And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;

13 D ar voi M'aţi părăsit, şi aţi slujit altor dumnezei. De aceea nu vă voi mai izbăvi.

and ye -- ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.

14 D uceţi-vă şi chemaţi pe dumnezeii pe cari i-aţi ales; ei să vă izbăvească în vremea strîmtorării voastre!``

Go and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they -- they save you in the time of your adversity.'

15 C opiii lui Israel au zis Domnului:,, Am păcătuit, fă-ne ce-Ţi va plăcea. Numai izbăveşte-ne astăzi!``

And the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, `We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.'

16 Ş i au scos dumnezeii străini din mijlocul lor, şi au slujit Domnului. El S'a îndurat de suferinţele lui Israel.

And they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.

17 F iii lui Amon s'au strîns şi au tăbărît în Galaad, şi copiii lui Israel s'au strîns şi au tăbărît la Miţpa.

And the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.

18 P oporul, şi căpeteniile Galaadului şi-au zis unul altuia:,, Cine este omul care va începe lupta împotriva fiilor lui Amon? El va fi căpetenia tuturor locuitorilor Galaadului.``

And the people -- heads of Gilead -- say one unto another, `Who the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.'
