1 A u ajuns pe celălalt ţărm al mării, în ţinutul Gadarenilor.

And they came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gadarenes,

2 C înd a ieşit Isus din corabie, L -a întîmpinat îndată un om care ieşea din morminte, stăpînit de un duh necurat.

and he having come forth out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

3 O mul acesta îşi avea locuinţa în morminte, şi nimeni nu mai putea să -l ţină legat, nici chiar cu un lanţ.

who had his dwelling in the tombs, and not even with chains was any one able to bind him,

4 C ăci de multe ori fusese legat cu picioarele în obezi şi cu cătuşe la mîni, dar rupsese cătuşele şi sfărîmase obezile, şi nimeni nu -l putea domoli.

because that he many times with fetters and chains had been bound, and pulled in pieces by him had been the chains, and the fetters broken in pieces, and none was able to tame him,

5 T otdeauna, zi şi noapte, stătea în morminte şi pe munţi, ţipînd şi tăindu-se cu pietre.

and always, night and day, in the mountains, and in the tombs he was, crying and cutting himself with stones.

6 C înd a văzut pe Isus de departe, a alergat, I s'a închinat,

And, having seen Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed before him,

7 ş i a strigat cu glas tare:,, Ce am eu a face cu Tine, Isuse, Fiul Dumnezeului Celui Prea Înalt? Te jur în Numele lui Dumnezeu, să nu mă chinuieşti!``

and having called with a loud voice, he said, `What -- to me and to thee, Jesus, Son of God the Most High? I adjure thee by God, mayest thou not afflict me!'

8 C ăci Isus îi zicea:,, Duh necurat, ieşi afară din omul acesta!``

(for he said to him, `Come forth, spirit unclean, out of the man,')

9 C are-ţi este numele?`` l -a întrebat Isus.,, Numele meu este, Legiune,` a răspuns el,,, pentrucă sîntem mulţi.``

and he was questioning him, `What thy name?' and he answered, saying, `Legion my name, because we are many;'

10 Ş i Îl ruga stăruitor să nu -i trimeată afară din ţinutul acela.

and he was calling on him much, that he may not send them out of the region.

11 A colo, lîngă munte, era o turmă mare de porci, cari păşteau.

And there was there, near the mountains, a great herd of swine feeding,

12 Ş i dracii L-au rugat, şi au zis:,, Trimete-ne în porcii aceia, ca să intrăm în ei.``

and all the demons did call upon him, saying, `Send us to the swine, that into them we may enter;'

13 I sus le -a dat voie. Şi duhurile necurate au ieşit şi au intrat în porci; şi turma s'a repezit de pe rîpă în mare: erau aproape două mii, şi s'au înecat în mare.

and immediately Jesus gave them leave, and having come forth, the unclean spirits did enter into the swine, and the herd did rush down the steep place to the sea -- and they were about two thousand -- and they were choked in the sea.

14 P orcarii au fugit, şi au dat de ştire în cetate şi prin satele vecine. Oamenii au ieşit să vadă ce s'a întîmplat.

And those feeding the swine did flee, and told in the city, and in the fields, and they came forth to see what it is that hath been done;

15 A u venit la Isus, şi iată pe cel ce fusese îndrăcit şi avusese legiunea de draci, şezînd jos îmbrăcat şi întreg la minte; şi s'au spăimîntat.

and they come unto Jesus, and see the demoniac, sitting, and clothed, and right-minded -- him having had the legion -- and they were afraid;

16 C ei ce văzuseră cele întîmplate, le-au povestit tot ce se petrecuse cu cel îndrăcit şi cu porcii.

and those having seen, declared to them how it had come to pass to the demoniac, and about the swine;

17 A tunci au început să roage pe Isus să plece din ţinutul lor.

and they began to call upon him to go away from their borders.

18 P e cînd Se suia El în corabie, omul care fusese îndrăcit Îl ruga să -l lase să rămînă cu El.

And he having gone into the boat, the demoniac was calling on him that he may be with him,

19 I sus nu i -a dat voie, ci i -a zis:,, Du-te acasă la ai tăi, şi povesteşte-le tot ce ţi -a făcut Domnul, şi cum a avut milă de tine.``

and Jesus did not suffer him, but saith to him, `Go away to thy house, unto thine own, and tell them how great things the Lord did to thee, and dealt kindly with thee;

20 E l a plecat, şi a început să vestească prin Decapole tot ce -i făcuse Isus. Şi toţi se minunau.

and he went away, and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus did to him, and all were wondering.

21 D upă ce a trecut Isus iarăş de cealaltă parte, cu corabia, s'a adunat mult norod în jurul Lui. El stătea lîngă mare.

And Jesus having passed over in the boat again to the other side, there was gathered a great multitude to him, and he was near the sea,

22 A tunci a venit unul din fruntaşii sinagogii, numit Iair. Cum L -a văzut, fruntaşul s'a aruncat la picioarele Lui,

and lo, there doth come one of the chiefs of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and having seen him, he doth fall at his feet,

23 ş i I -a făcut următoarea rugăminte stăruitoare:,, Fetiţa mea trage să moară; rogu-Te, vino de-Ţi pune mînile peste ea, ca să se facă sănătoasă şi să trăiască.``

and he was calling upon him much, saying -- `My little daughter is at the last extremity -- that having come, thou mayest lay on her hands, so that she may be saved, and she shall live;'

24 I sus a plecat împreună cu el. Şi după El mergea mult norod şi -L îmbulzea.

and he went away with him. And there was following him a great multitude, and they were thronging him,

25 Ş i era o femeie, care de doisprezece ani avea o scurgere de sînge.

and a certain woman, having an issue of blood twelve years,

26 E a suferise mult dela mulţi doftori; cheltuise tot ce avea, şi nu simţise nici o uşurare; ba încă îi era mai rău.

and many things having suffered under many physicians, and having spent all that she had, and having profited nothing, but rather having come to the worse,

27 A auzit vorbindu-se despre Isus, a venit pe dinapoi prin mulţime, şi s'a atins de haina Lui.

having heard about Jesus, having come in the multitude behind, she touched his garment,

28 C ăci îşi zicea ea:,, Dacă aş putea doar să mă ating de haina Lui, mă voi tămădui.``

for she said -- `If even his garments I may touch, I shall be saved;'

29 Ş i îndată, a secat izvorul sîngelui ei. Şi a simţit în tot trupul ei că s'a tămăduit de boală.

and immediately was the fountain of her blood dried up, and she knew in the body that she hath been healed of the plague.

30 I sus a cunoscut îndată că o putere ieşise din El; şi, întorcîndu-Se spre mulţime, a zis:,, Cine s'a atins de hainele Mele?``

And immediately Jesus having known in himself that out of him power had gone forth, having turned about in the multitude, said, `Who did touch my garments?'

31 U cenicii I-au zis:,, Vezi că mulţimea Te îmbulzeşte, şi mai zici:,, Cine s'a atins de Mine?``

and his disciples said to him, `Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and thou sayest, `Who did touch me!'

32 E l se uita de jur împrejur să vadă pe cea care făcuse lucrul acesta.

And he was looking round to see her who did this,

33 F emeea, înfricoşată şi tremurînd, căci ştia ce se petrecuse în ea, a venit de s'a aruncat la picioarele Lui, şi I -a spus tot adevărul.

and the woman, having been afraid, and trembling, knowing what was done on her, came, and fell down before him, and told him all the truth,

34 D ar Isus i -a zis:,, Fiică, credinţa ta te -a mîntuit; du-te în pace, şi fii tămăduită de boala ta.``

and he said to her, `Daughter, thy faith hath saved thee; go away in peace, and be whole from thy plague.'

35 P e cînd vorbea El încă, iată că vin nişte oameni dela fruntaşul sinagogii, cari -i spun:,, Fiica ta a murit; pentruce mai superi pe Învăţătorul?``

As he is yet speaking, there come from the chief of the synagogue's, saying -- `Thy daughter did die, why still dost thou harass the Teacher?'

36 D ar Isus, fără să ţină seamă de cuvintele acestea, a zis fruntaşului sinagogii:,, Nu te teme, crede numai!``

And Jesus immediately, having heard the word that is spoken, saith to the chief of the synagogue, `Be not afraid, only believe.'

37 Ş i n'a îngăduit nimănui să -L însoţească, afară de Petru, Iacov şi Ioan, fratele lui Iacov.

And he did not suffer any one to follow with him, except Peter, and James, and John the brother of James;

38 A u ajuns la casa fruntaşului sinagogii. Acolo Isus a văzut o zarvă, şi pe unii cari plîngeau şi se tînguiau mult.

and he cometh to the house of the chief of the synagogue, and seeth a tumult, much weeping and wailing;

39 A intrat înlăuntru, şi le -a zis:,, Pentruce faceţi atîta zarvă, şi pentruce plîngeţi? Copila n'a murit, ci doarme.``

and having gone in he saith to them, `Why do ye make a tumult, and weep? the child did not die, but doth sleep;

40 E i îşi băteau joc de El. Atunci, după ce i -a scos afară pe toţi, a luat cu El pe tatăl copilei, pe mama ei, şi pe cei ce -L însoţiseră, şi a intrat acolo unde zăcea copila.

and they were laughing at him. And he, having put all forth, doth take the father of the child, and the mother, and those with him, and goeth in where the child is lying,

41 A apucat -o de mînă, şi i -a zis:,, Talita cumi``, care, tîlmăcit, însemnează:,, Fetiţo, scoală-te, îţi zic!``

and, having taken the hand of the child, he saith to her, `Talitha cumi;' which is, being interpreted, `Damsel (I say to thee), arise.'

42 Î ndată fetiţa s'a sculat, şi a început să umble; căci era de doisprezece ani. Ei au rămas încremeniţi.

And immediately the damsel arose, and was walking, for she was twelve years; and they were amazed with a great amazement,

43 I sus le -a poruncit cu tărie să nu ştie nimeni lucrul acesta; şi a zis să dea de mîncare fetiţei.

and he charged them much, that no one may know this thing, and he said that there be given to her to eat.
