1 H iram, împăratul Tirului, a trimes soli lui David, şi lemn de cedru şi cioplitori de piatră şi tîmplari, să -i zidească o casă.

And Huram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-wood, and artificers of walls, and artificers of wood, to build to him a house.

2 D avid a cunoscut că Domnul îl întărea ca împărat al lui Israel, şi că împărăţia lui s'a înălţat foarte mult, din pricina poporului Său Israel.

And David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, because of the lifting up on high of his kingdom, for the sake of His people Israel.

3 D avid a mai luat neveste şi la Ierusalim: şi a mai născut fii şi fiice.

And David taketh again wives in Jerusalem, and David begetteth again sons and daughters;

4 I ată numele celor ce i s'au născut la Ierusalim; Şamua, Şobab, Natan, Solomon,

and these the names of the children whom he hath in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5 I bhar, Elişua, Elfelet,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

6 N oga, Nefeg, Iafia,

and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7 E lişama, Beeliada şi Elifelet.

and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

8 F ilistenii au auzit că David fusese uns împărat peste tot Israelul, şi s'au suit cu toţii să -l caute. David a fost înştiinţat de acest lucru, şi le -a ieşit înainte.

And the Philistines hear that David hath been anointed for king over all Israel, and all the Philistines go up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth out before them.

9 F ilistenii au venit, şi s'au răspîndit în valea Refaimiţilor.

And the Philistines have come, and rush into the valley of Rephaim,

10 D avid a întrebat pe Dumnezeu, zicînd:,, Să mă sui împotriva Filistenilor, şi îi vei da în mînile mele?`` Şi Domnul i -a zis:,, Sui-te, şi -i voi da în mînile tale.``

and David asketh of God, saying, `Do I go up against the Philistines -- and hast Thou given them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith to him, `Go up, and I have given them into thy hand.'

11 S 'au suit la Baal-Peraţim, unde David i -a bătut. Apoi a zis:,, Dumnezeu a risipit pe vrăjmaşii mei prin mîna mea, ca pe nişte ape cari se scurg. Deaceea s'a dat locului acestuia numele Baal-Peraţim.

And they go up into Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and David saith, `God hath broken up mine enemies by my hand, like the breaking up of waters;' therefore they have called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

12 E i şi-au lăsat acolo dumnezeii, cari au fost arşi în foc, după porunca lui David.

And they leave there their gods, and David speaketh, and they are burnt with fire.

13 F ilistenii s'au răspîndit din nou în vale.

And the Philistines add again, and rush into the valley,

14 D avid a întrebat iarăş pe Dumnezeu. Şi Dumnezeu i -a zis:,, Să nu te sui după ei; întoarce-te dela ei, şi mergi asupra lor prin faţa duzilor.

and David asketh again of God, and God saith to him, `Do not go up after them, turn round from them, and thou hast come to them from over-against the mulberries;

15 C înd vei auzi un vuiet de paşi în vîrfurile duzilor, atunci să ieşi la luptă, căci Dumnezeu merge înaintea ta, ca să bată oastea Filistenilor.``

and it cometh to pass, when thou hearest the sound of the stepping at the heads of the mulberries, then thou goest out into battle, for God hath gone out before thee to smite the camp of the Philistines.'

16 D avid a făcut cum îi poruncise Dumnezeu, şi oastea Filistenilor a fost bătută dela Gabaon pînă la Ghezer.

And David doth as God commanded him, and they smite the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon even unto Gazer;

17 F aima lui David s'a răspîndit în toată ţara, şi Domnul l -a făcut de temut pentru toate neamurile.

and the name of David goeth out into all the lands, and Jehovah hath put his fear on all the nations.
