1 ( Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. După Iedutun. Un psalm al lui Asaf.) Strig cu glasul meu către Dumnezeu, strig cu glasul meu către Dumnezeu, şi El mă va asculta.

To the Overseer, for Jeduthun. -- A Psalm of Asaph. My voice to God, and I cry, my voice to God, And He hath given ear unto me.

2 Î n ziua necazului meu, caut pe Domnul; noaptea, mînile îmi stau întinse fără curmare; sufletul meu nu vrea nicio mîngîiere.

In a day of my distress the Lord I sought, My hand by night hath been spread out, And it doth not cease, My soul hath refused to be comforted.

3 M i-aduc aminte de Dumnezeu, şi gem; mă gîndesc adînc în mine, şi mi se mîhneşte duhul. -

I remember God, and make a noise, I meditate, and feeble is my spirit. Selah.

4 T u îmi ţii ploapele deschise; şi, de mult ce mă frămînt, nu pot vorbi.

Thou hast taken hold of the watches of mine eyes, I have been moved, and I speak not.

5 M ă gîndesc la zilele de demult, la anii de odinioară.

I have reckoned the days of old, The years of the ages.

6 M ă gîndesc la cîntările mele noaptea, cuget adînc în lăuntrul inimii mele, îmi cade duhul pe gînduri, şi zic:

I remember my music in the night, With my heart I meditate, and my spirit doth search diligently:

7 V a lepăda Domnul pentru totdeauna? Şi nu va mai fi El binevoitor?

To the ages doth the Lord cast off? Doth He add to be pleased no more?

8 S 'a isprăvit bunătatea Lui pe vecie? S'a dus făgăduinţa Lui pentru totdeauna?

Hath His kindness ceased for ever? The saying failed to all generations?

9 A uitat Dumnezeu să aibă milă? Şi -a tras El, în mînia Lui, înapoi îndurarea?`` -

Hath God forgotten favours? Hath He shut up in anger His mercies? Selah.

10 A tunci îmi zic:,, Ceeace mă face să sufăr, este că dreapta Celui Prea Înalt nu mai este aceeaş``...

And I say: `My weakness is, The changes of the right hand of the Most High.'

11 D ar tot voi lăuda lucrările Domnului, căci îmi aduc aminte de minunile Tale de odinioară;

I mention the doings of Jah, For I remember of old Thy wonders,

12 d a, mă voi gîndi la toate lucrările Tale, şi voi lua aminte la toate isprăvile Tale.

And I have meditated on all Thy working, And I talk concerning Thy doings.

13 D umnezeule, căile Tale sînt sfinte! Care Dumnezeu este mare ca Dumnezeul nostru?

O God, in holiness Thy way, Who a great god like God?

14 T u eşti Dumnezeul, care faci minuni; Tu Ţi-ai arătat puterea printre popoare.

Thou the God doing wonders. Thou hast made known among the peoples Thy strength,

15 P rin braţul Tău, Tu ai izbăvit pe poporul Tău, pe fiii lui Iacov şi ai lui Iosif.

Thou hast redeemed with strength Thy people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

16 C înd Te-au văzut apele, Dumnezeule, cînd Te-au văzut apele, s'au cutremurat, şi adîncurile s'au mişcat.

The waters have seen Thee, O God, The waters have seen Thee, They are afraid -- also depths are troubled.

17 N orii au turnat apă cu găleata, tunetul a răsunat în nori, şi săgeţile Tale au sburat în toate părţile.

Poured out waters have thick clouds, The skies have given forth a noise, Also -- Thine arrows go up and down.

18 T unetul Tău a isbucnit în vîrtej de vînt, fulgerile au luminat lumea: pămîntul s'a mişcat şi s'a cutremurat.

The voice of Thy thunder in the spheres, Lightnings have lightened the world, The earth hath trembled, yea, it shaketh.

19 Ţ i-ai croit un drum prin mare, o cărare prin apele cele mari, şi nu Ţi s'au mai cunoscut urmele.

In the sea Thy way, And Thy paths in many waters, And Thy tracks have not been known.

20 A i povăţuit pe poporul Tău ca pe o turmă, prin mîna lui Moise şi Aaron.

Thou hast led as a flock Thy people, By the hand of Moses and Aaron!
