1 A u stat trei ani liniştiţi, fără să fie război între Siria şi Israel.

And they sit still three years, there is no war between Aram and Israel,

2 Î n anul al treilea, Iosafat, împăratul lui Iuda, s'a pogorît la împăratul lui Israel.

and it cometh to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat king of Judah cometh down unto the king of Israel,

3 Î mpăratul lui Israel a zis slujitorilor săi:,,Ştiţi că Ramot din Galaad este al nostru. Şi noi stăm fără grijă, în loc să -l luăm înapoi din mînile împăratului Siriei.``

and the king of Israel saith unto his servants, `Have ye not known that ours Ramoth-Gilead? and we are keeping silent from taking it out of the hand of the king of Aram!'

4 Ş i a zis lui Iosafat:,, Vrei să vii cu mine să luptăm împotriva Ramotului din Galaad?`` Iosafat a răspuns împăratului lui Israel:,, Eu voi fi ca tine, poporul meu ca poporul tău, caii mei ca ai tăi.``

And he saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Dost thou go with me to battle Ramoth-Gilead?' and Jehoshaphat saith unto the king of Israel, `As I am, so thou; as my people, so thy people; as my horses, so thy horses.'

5 A poi Iosafat a zis împăratului lui Israel:,,Întreabă acum, te rog, cuvîntul Domnului.``

And Jehoshaphat saith unto the king of Israel, `Seek, I pray thee, to-day, the word of Jehovah;'

6 Î mpăratul lui Israel a strîns pe prooroci, în număr de aproape patru sute, şi le -a zis:,, Să merg să lupt împotriva Ramotului din Galaad, sau să mă las?`` Şi ei au răspuns:,, Suie-te, şi Domnul îl va da în mînile împăratului.``

and the king of Israel gathereth the prophets, about four hundred men, and saith unto them, `Do I go against Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?' and they say, `Go up, and the Lord doth give into the hand of the king.'

7 D ar Iosafat a zis:,, Nu mai este aici niciun prooroc al Domnului, ca să -L putem întreba?``

And Jehoshaphat saith, `Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, and we seek by him?'

8 Î mpăratul lui Israel a răspuns lui Iosafat:,, Mai este un om prin care am putea să întrebăm pe Domnul; dar îl urăsc, căci nu-mi prooroceşte nimic bun, nu prooroceşte decît rău: este Mica, fiul lui Imla.`` Şi Iosafat a zis:,, Să nu vorbească împăratul aşa!``

And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Yet -- one man to seek Jehovah by him, and I have hated him, for he doth not prophesy concerning me good, but evil -- Micaiah son of Imlah;' and Jehoshaphat saith, `Let not the king say so.'

9 A tunci împăratul lui Israel a chemat un dregător, şi a zis:,, Trimete şi adu îndată pe Mica, fiul lui Imla.``

And the king of Israel calleth unto a certain eunuch, and saith, `Hasten Micaiah son of Imlah.'

10 Î mpăratul lui Israel şi Iosafat, împăratul lui Iuda, şedeau fiecare pe scaunul lui de domnie, îmbrăcaţi cu hainele lor împărăteşti, în locul dela intrarea porţii Samariei. Şi toţi proorocii prooroceau înaintea lor.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah are sitting, each on his throne, clothed with garments, in a threshing-floor, at the opening of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets are prophesying before them.

11 Z edechia, fiul lui Chenaana, îşi făcuse nişte coarne de fer, şi a zis:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Cu coarnele acestea vei bate pe Sirieni pînă îi vei nimici.``

And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah maketh for himself horns of iron, and saith, `Thus said Jehovah, By these thou dost push the Aramaeans till they are consumed;'

12 Ş i toţi proorocii prooroceau la fel, zicînd:,, Suie-te la Ramot din Galaad! Căci vei izbîndi, şi Domnul îl va da în mînile împăratului.``

and all the prophets are prophesying so, saying, `Go up to Ramoth-Gilead, and prosper, and Jehovah hath given into the hand of the king.'

13 S olul care se dusese să cheme pe Mica i -a vorbit aşa:,, Iată, că proorocii, într'un glas, proorocesc bine împăratului; să fie dar şi cuvîntul tău ca al fiecăruia din ei! Vesteşte -i bine!``

And the messenger who hath gone to call Micaiah hath spoken unto him, saying, `Lo, I pray thee, the words of the prophets, with one mouth, good towards the king; let it be, I pray thee, thy word as the word of one of them -- and thou hast spoken good.'

14 M ica a răspuns:,, Viu este Domnul, că voi vesti ce-mi va spune Domnul.``

And Micaiah saith, `Jehovah liveth; surely that which Jehovah saith unto me -- it I speak.'

15 C înd a ajuns la împărat, împăratul i -a zis:,, Mica, să mergem să luptăm împotriva Ramotului din Galaad, sau să ne lăsăm?`` El a răspuns:,, Suie-te, căci vei izbîndi, şi Domnul îl va da în mînile împăratului.``

And he cometh in unto the king, and the king saith unto him, `Micaiah, do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead, to battle, or do we forbear?' and he saith unto him, `Go up, and prosper, and Jehovah hath given into the hand of the king.'

16 Ş i împăratul i -a zis:,, De cîteori trebuie să te pun să juri că nu-mi vei spune decît adevărul în Numele Domnului?``

And the king saith unto him, `How many times am I adjuring thee that thou speak nothing unto me but truth in the name of Jehovah?'

17 M ica a răspuns:,, Văd tot Israelul risipit pe munţi, ca nişte oi cari n'au păstor. Şi Domnul zice:, Oamenii aceştia n'au stăpîn; să se întoarcă fiecare acasă în pace.``

And he saith, `I have seen all Israel scattered on the hills as sheep that have no shepherd, and Jehovah saith, These have no master; they turn back each to his house in peace.'

18 Î mpăratul lui Israel a zis lui Iosafat:,, Nu ţi-am spus că el nu prooroceşte nimic bun despre mine, ci prooroceşte numai rău?``

And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Have I not said unto thee, He doth not prophesy of me good, but evil?'

19 Ş i Mica a zis:,, Ascultă dar cuvîntul Domnului! Am văzut pe Domnul stînd pe scaunul Lui de domnie, şi toată oştirea cerurilor stînd lîngă El, la dreapta şi la stînga Lui.

And he saith, `Therefore, hear a word of Jehovah; I have seen Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of the heavens standing by Him, on His right and on His left;

20 Ş i Domnul a zis:, Cine va amăgi pe Ahab, ca să se suie la Ramot din Galaad şi să piară acolo?` Şi au răspuns unul într'un fel, altul într'altul.

and Jehovah saith, Who doth entice Ahab, and he doth go up and fall in Ramoth-Gilead? and this one saith thus, and that one is saying thus.

21 Ş i un duh a venit şi s'a înfăţişat înaintea Domnului, şi a zis:, Eu îl voi amăgi.`

`And the spirit goeth out, and standeth before Jehovah, and saith, I -- I do entice him; and Jehovah saith unto him, By what?

22 D omnul i -a zis:, Cum?`, Voi ieşi`, a răspuns el,,şi voi fi un duh de minciună în gura tuturor proorocilor lui.` Domnul a zis: Îl vei amăgi, şi-ţi vei ajunge ţinta; ieşi, şi fă aşa!``

and he saith, I go out, and have been a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets; and He saith, Thou dost entice, and also thou art able; go out and do so.

23 Ş i acum, iată că Domnul a pus un duh de minciună în gura tuturor proorocilor tăi cari sînt de faţă. Dar Domnul a hotărît lucruri rele împotriva ta.``

And now, lo, Jehovah hath put a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and Jehovah hath spoken concerning thee -- evil.'

24 A tunci Zedechia, fiul lui Chenaana, apropiindu-se, a lovit pe Mica peste obraz, şi a zis:,, Pe unde a ieşit Duhul Domnului din mine ca să-ţi vorbească?``

And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah draweth nigh, and smiteth Micaiah on the cheek, and saith, `Where this -- he hath passed over -- the Spirit of Jehovah -- from me to speak with thee?'

25 M ica a răspuns:,, Vei vedea în ziua cînd vei umbla din odaie în odaie ca să te ascunzi.``

And Micaiah saith, `Lo, thou art seeing on that day, when thou goest in to the innermost chamber to be hidden.'

26 Î mpăratul lui Israel a zis:,, Ia pe Mica, du -l la Amon, mai marele cetăţii, şi la Ioas, fiul împăratului,

And the king of Israel saith, `Take Micaiah, and turn him back unto Amon head of the city, and unto Joash son of the king,

27 ş i să le spui:, Aşa vorbeşte împăratul:, Puneţi pe omul acesta la închisoare, şi hrăniţi -l cu pînea şi cu apa întristării, pînă cînd mă voi întoarce în pace.``

and thou hast said, Thus said the king, Place ye this one in the house of restraint, and cause him to eat bread of oppression, and water of oppression, till my coming in peace.'

28 Ş i Mica a zis:,, Dacă te vei întoarce în pace, Domnul n'a vorbit prin mine.`` Apoi a mai zis:,, Auziţi, popoare, toate.``

And Micaiah saith, `If thou at all return in peace -- Jehovah hath not spoken by me;' and he saith, `Hear, O peoples, all of them.'

29 Î mpăratul lui Israel şi Iosafat, împăratul lui Iuda, s'au suit la Ramot din Galaad.

And the king of Israel goeth up, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, to Ramoth-Gilead.

30 Î mpăratul lui Israel a zis lui Iosafat:,, Vreau să-mi schimb hainele ca să merg la luptă; dar tu, îmbracă-te cu hainele tale împărăteşti.`` Şi împăratul lui Israel şi -a schimbat hainele, şi s'a dus la luptă.

And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat to disguise himself, and to go into battle, `And thou, put on thy garments.' And the king of Israel disguiseth himself, and goeth into battle.

31 Î mpăratul Siriei dăduse următoarea poruncă celor treizeci şi două de căpetenii ale carălor lui:,, Să nu vă luptaţi nici cu cei mici nici cu cei mari, ci să vă luptaţi numai cu împăratul lui Israel.``

And the king of Aram commanded the heads of the charioteers whom he hath -- thirty and two -- saying, `Ye do not fight with small or with great, but with the king of Israel by himself.'

32 C înd au zărit căpeteniile carălor pe Iosafat, au zis:,, Negreşit, acesta este împăratul lui Israel.`` Şi s'au apropiat de el să -l lovească. Iosafat a scos un ţipăt.

And it cometh to pass, at the heads of the charioteers seeing Jehoshaphat, that they said, `He only the king of Israel;' and they turn aside to him to fight, and Jehoshaphat crieth out,

33 C ăpeteniile carălor, văzînd că nu este împăratul lui Israel, s'au depărtat de el.

and it cometh to pass, at the heads of the charioteers seeing that he not the king of Israel, that they turn back from after him.

34 A tunci un om a tras cu arcul la întîmplare, şi a lovit pe împăratul lui Israel la încheietura platoşei. Împăratul a zis cărăuşului său:,,Întoarce, şi scoate-mă din cîmpul de bătaie, căci sînt greu rănit.``

And a man hath drawn with a bow, in his simplicity, and smiteth the king of Israel between the joinings and the coat of mail, and he saith to his charioteer, `Turn thy hand, and take me out from the camp, for I have become sick.'

35 L upta a fost din ce în ce mai crîncenă în ziua aceea. Împăratul a stat drept în carul lui în faţa Sirienilor, şi seara a murit. Sîngele a curs din rană în lăuntrul carului.

And the battle increaseth on that day, and the king hath been caused to stand in the chariot, over-against Aram, and he dieth in the evening, and the blood of the wound runneth out unto the midst of the chariot,

36 L a apusul soarelui, s'a strigat prin toată tabăra:,, Să plece fiecare în cetatea lui şi să plece fiecare în ţara lui,

and he causeth the cry to pass over through the camp, at the going in of the sun, saying, `Each unto his city, and each unto his land.'

37 c ăci a murit împăratul.`` S'au întors la Samaria, şi împăratul a fost îngropat la Samaria.

And the king dieth, and cometh into Samaria, and they bury the king in Samaria;

38 C înd au spălat carul în iazul Samariei, cînii au lins sîngele lui Ahab, şi curvele s'au scăldat în el, după cuvîntul pe care -l spusese Domnul.

and rinseth the chariot by the pool of Samaria, and the dogs lick his blood -- when the armour they had washed -- according to the word of Jehovah that He spake.

39 C elelalte fapte ale lui Ahab, tot ce a făcut el, casa de fildeş pe care a zidit -o, şi toate cetăţile pe cari le -a zidit, nu sînt scrise oare în cartea Cronicilor împăraţilor lui Israel?

And the rest of the matters of Ahab, and all that he did, and the house of ivory that he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

40 A hab a adormit cu părinţii săi. Şi în locul lui, a domnit fiul său Ahazia.

And Ahab lieth with his fathers, and Ahaziah his son reigneth in his stead.

41 I osafat, fiul lui Asa, a început să domnească peste Iuda, în al patrulea an al lui Ahab, împăratul lui Israel.

And Jehoshaphat son of Asa hath reigned over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel,

42 I osafat era de treizeci şi cinci de ani cînd s'a făcut împărat, şi a domnit douăzeci şi cinci de ani la Ierusalim. Mamă-sa se numea Azuba, fata lui Şilhi.

Jehoshaphat a son of thirty and five years in his reigning, and twenty and five years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Azubah daughter of Shilhi.

43 E l a umblat în toată calea tatălui său Asa, şi nu s'a abătut deloc dela ea, făcînd ce este plăcut înaintea Domnului. Numai că înălţimile n'au fost îndepărtate: poporul tot mai aducea jertfe şi tămîie pe înălţimi.

And he walketh in all the way of Asa his father, he hath not turned aside from it, to do that which right in the eyes of Jehovah; only the high places have not turned aside, yet are the people sacrificing and making perfume in high places.

44 I osafat a trăit în pace cu împăratul lui Israel.

And Jehoshaphat maketh peace with the king of Israel;

45 C elelalte fapte ale lui Iosafat, isprăvile şi războaiele lui, nu sînt scrise oare în cartea Cronicilor împăraţilor lui Iuda?

and the rest of the matters of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he got, and with which he fought, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

46 E l a scos din ţară pe sodomiţii cari mai rămăseseră de pe vremea tatălui său Asa.

And the remnant of the whoremongers who were left in the days of Asa his father he took away out of the land;

47 Î n Edom nu era împărat pe atunci: cîrmuia un dregător.

and there is no king in Edom; he set up a king.

48 I osafat a făcut corăbii din Tars ca să meargă la Ofir să aducă aur; dar nu s'au dus, căci corăbiile s'au sfărîmat la Eţion-Gheber.

Jehoshaphat made ships at Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, and they went not, for the ships were broken in Ezion-Geber.

49 A tunci Ahazia, fiul lui Ahab, a zis lui Iosafat:,, Vrei ca slujitorii mei să meargă împreună cu ai tăi pe corăbii?`` Dar Iosafat n'a voit.

Then said Ahaziah son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, `Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships;' and Jehoshaphat was not willing.

50 I osafat a adormit cu părinţii săi, şi a fost îngropat cu părinţii săi, în cetatea tatălui său David. Şi în locul lui a domnit fiul său Ioram.

And Jehoshaphat lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Jehoram his son reigneth in his stead.

51 A hazia, fiul lui Ahab, a început să domnească peste Israel la Samaria, în al şaptesprezecelea an al lui Iosafat, împăratul lui Iuda. A domnit doi ani peste Israel.

Ahaziah son of Ahab hath reigned over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigneth over Israel two years,

52 E l a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, şi a umblat în calea tatălui său şi în calea mamei sale, şi în calea lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, care făcuse pe Israel să păcătuiască.

and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat who caused Israel to sin,

53 A slujit lui Baal şi s'a închinat înaintea lui, şi a mîniat pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, cum făcuse şi tatăl său

and serveth the Baal, and boweth himself to it, and provoketh Jehovah, God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
