1 A tunci Moise şi copiii lui Israel au cîntat Domnului cîntarea aceasta. Ei au zis:,, Voi cînta Domnului, căci Şi -a arătat slava: A năpustit în mare pe cal şi pe călăreţ.

Then singeth Moses and the sons of Israel this song to Jehovah, and they speak, saying: -- `I sing to Jehovah, For triumphing He hath triumphed; The horse and its rider He hath thrown into the sea.

2 D omnul este tăria mea şi temeiul cîntărilor mele de laudă: El m'a scăpat. El este Dumnezeul meu: pe El Îl voi lăuda; El este Dumnezeul tatălui meu: pe El Îl voi preamări.

My strength and song is Jah, And He is become my salvation: This my God, and I glorify Him; God of my father, and I exalt Him.

3 D omnul este un războinic viteaz: Numele Lui este Domnul.

Jehovah a man of battle; Jehovah His name.

4 E l a aruncat în mare carăle lui Faraon şi oastea lui; Luptătorii lui aleşi au fost înghiţiţi în marea Roşie.

Chariots of Pharaoh and his force He hath cast into the sea; And the choice of his captains Have sunk in the Red Sea!

5 I -au acoperit valurile, Şi s'au pogorît în fundul apelor, ca o piatră.

The depths do cover them; They went down into the depths as a stone.

6 D reapta Ta, Doamne, şi -a făcut vestită tăria; Mîna Ta cea dreaptă, Doamne, a zdrobit pe vrăjmaşi.

Thy right hand, O Jehovah, Is become honourable in power; Thy right hand, O Jehovah, Doth crush an enemy.

7 P rin mărimea măreţiei Tale, Tu trînteşti la pămînt pe vrăjmaşii Tăi; Îţi deslănţuieşti mînia, Şi ea -i mistuie ca pe o trestie.

And in the abundance of Thine excellency Thou throwest down Thy withstanders, Thou sendest forth Thy wrath -- It consumeth them as stubble.

8 L a suflarea nărilor Tale, s'au îngrămădit apele, S'au ridicat talazurile ca un zid, Şi s'au închegat valurile în mijlocul mării.

And by the spirit of Thine anger Have waters been heaped together; Stood as a heap have flowings; Congealed have been depths In the heart of a sea.

9 V răjmaşul zicea:,,Îi voi urmări, îi voi ajunge, Voi împărţi prada de război; Îmi voi răzbuna pe ei, Voi scoate sabia, şi -i voi nimici cu mîna mea!``

The enemy said, I pursue, I overtake; I apportion spoil; Filled is my soul with them; I draw out my sword; My hand destroyeth them: --

10 D ar Tu ai suflat cu suflarea Ta: Şi marea i -a acoperit; Ca plumbul s'au afundat În adîncimea apelor.

Thou hast blown with Thy wind The sea hath covered them; They sank as lead in mighty waters.

11 C ine este ca Tine între dumnezei, Doamne? Cine este ca Tine minunat în sfinţenie, Bogat în fapte de laudă, Şi făcător de minuni?

Who like Thee among the gods, O Jehovah? Who like Thee -- honourable in holiness -- Fearful in praises -- doing wonders?

12 T u Ţi-ai întins mîna dreaptă: Şi i -a înghiţit pămîntul.

Thou hast stretched out Thy right hand -- Earth swalloweth them!

13 P rin îndurarea Ta, Tu ai călăuzit, Şi ai izbăvit pe poporul acesta; Iar prin puterea Ta îl îndrepţi Spre locaşul sfinţeniei Tale.

Thou hast led forth in Thy kindness The people whom Thou hast redeemed. Thou hast led on in Thy strength Unto Thy holy habitation.

14 P opoarele vor afla lucrul acesta, şi se vor cutremura: Apucă groaza pe Filisteni,

Peoples have heard, they are troubled; Pain hath seized inhabitants of Philistia.

15 S e înspăimîntă căpeteniile Edomului, Şi un tremur apucă pe războinicii lui Moab; Toţi locuitorii Canaanului leşină dela inimă.

Then have chiefs of Edom been troubled: Mighty ones of Moab -- Trembling doth seize them! Melted have all inhabitants of Canaan!

16 Î i va apuca teama şi spaima; Iar văzînd măreţia braţului Tău, Vor sta muţi ca o piatră, Pînă va trece poporul Tău, Doamne! Pînă va trece Poporul, pe care Ţi l-ai răscumpărat.

Fall on them doth terror and dread; By the greatness of Thine arm They are still as a stone, Till Thy people pass over, O Jehovah; Till the people pass over Whom Thou hast purchased.

17 T u îi vei aduce şi -i vei aşeza pe muntele moştenirii Tale, În locul, pe care Ţi l-ai pregătit ca locaş, Doamne, La Templul, pe care mînile Tale l-au întemeiat, Doamne!

Thou dost bring them in, And dost plant them In a mountain of Thine inheritance, A fixed place for Thy dwelling Thou hast made, O Jehovah; A sanctuary, O Lord, Thy hands have established;

18 Ş i Domnul va împărăţi în veac şi în veci de veci.

Jehovah reigneth -- to the age, and for ever!'

19 C ăci caii lui Faraon, carăle şi călăreţii lui au intrat în mare, Şi Domnul a adus peste ei apele mării; Dar copiii lui Israel au mers ca pe uscat prin mijlocul mării.``

For the horse of Pharaoh hath gone in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Jehovah turneth back on them the waters of the sea, and the sons of Israel have gone on dry land in the midst of the sea.

20 M aria, proorociţa, sora lui Aaron, a luat în mînă o timpană, şi toate femeile au venit după ea, cu timpane şi jucînd.

And Miriam the inspired one, sister of Aaron, taketh the timbrel in her hand, and all the women go out after her, with timbrels and with choruses;

21 M aria răspundea copiilor lui Israel:

and Miriam answereth to them: -- `Sing ye to Jehovah, For Triumphing He hath triumphed; The horse and its rider He hath thrown into the sea!'

22 M oise a pornit pe Israel dela marea Roşie. Au apucat înspre pustia Şur; şi, după trei zile de mers în pustie, n'au găsit apă.

And Moses causeth Israel to journey from the Red Sea, and they go out unto the wilderness of Shur, and they go three days in the wilderness, and have not found water,

23 A u ajuns la Mara; dar n'au putut să bea apă din Mara, pentrucă era amară. De aceea locul acela a fost numit Mara (Amărăciune).

and they come in to Marah, and have not been able to drink the waters of Marah, for they bitter; therefore hath called its name Marah.

24 P oporul a cîrtit împotriva lui Moise, zicînd:,, Ce avem să bem?``

And the people murmur against Moses, saying, `What do we drink?'

25 M oise a strigat către Domnul; şi Domnul i -a arătat un lemn, pe care l -a aruncat în apă. Şi apa s'a făcut dulce. Acolo a dat Domnul poporului legi şi porunci, şi acolo l -a pus la încercare.

and he crieth unto Jehovah, and Jehovah sheweth him a tree, and he casteth unto the waters, and the waters become sweet. There He hath made for them a statute, and an ordinance, and there He hath tried them,

26 E l a zis:,, Dacă vei asculta cu luare aminte glasul Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, dacă vei face ce este bine înaintea Lui, dacă vei asculta de poruncile Lui, şi dacă vei păzi toate legile Lui, nu te voi lovi cu niciuna din bolile cu cari am lovit pe Egipteni; căci Eu sînt Domnul, care te vindecă.``

and He saith, `If thou dost really hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and dost that which is right in His eyes, and hast hearkened to His commands, and kept all His statutes: none of the sickness which I laid on the Egyptians do I lay on thee, for I, Jehovah, am healing thee.

27 A u ajuns la Elim, unde erau douăsprezece izvoare de apă şi şaptezeci de finici. Şi au tăbărît acolo, lîngă apă.

And they come to Elim, and there twelve fountains of water, and seventy palm trees; and they encamp there by the waters.
