1 C uvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:

2 t u, fiul omului, rosteşte această cîntare de jale asupra Tirului!

`And thou, son of man, lift up concerning Tyre a lamentation, and thou hast said to Tyre:

3 S pune Tirului:, Tu, care stai pe malul mării, şi faci negoţ cu popoarele unui mare număr de ostroave, aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu:, Tirule, tu ziceai:, Eu sînt de o desăvîrşită frumuseţă!`

O dweller on the entrances of the sea, Merchant of the peoples unto many isles, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: O Tyre, thou -- thou hast said: I the perfection of beauty.

4 Ţ inutul tău este în inima mărilor, şi cei ce te-au zidit te-au făcut desăvîrşit de frumos.

In the heart of the seas thy borders, Thy builders have perfected thy beauty.

5 C u chiparoşi din Senir ţi-au făcut toate laturile corăbiilor. Au luat cedri din Liban, ca să-ţi ridice catargurile;

Of firs of Senir they have built to thee all thy double-boarded ships, Of cedars of Lebanon they have taken to make a mast for thee,

6 l opeţile ţi le-au făcut din stejari de Basan, şi laviţele cu fildeş prins în cimişir, adus din ostroavele Chitim.

Of oaks of Bashan they made thine oars, Thy bench they have made of ivory, A branch of Ashurim from isles of Chittim.

7 P înzele cari-ţi slujeau ca steag erau de in subţire din Egipt, cusut la gherghef, iar învelitoarea ta era de purpură albastră şi roşie, din ostroavele Elişei.

Of fine linen with embroidery from Egypt hath been thy sail, To be to thee for an ensign, Of blue and purple from isles of Elishah hath been thy covering.

8 L ocuitorii Sidonului şi Arvadului îţi erau vîslaşi, şi cei mai înţelepţi din mijlocul tău, Tirule, îţi erau cîrmaci.

Inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad have been rowers to thee, Thy wise men, O Tyre, have been in thee, They thy pilots.

9 B ătrînii Ghebalului şi lucrătorii lui iscusiţi erau la tine, şi-ţi dregeau crăpăturile. Toate corăbiile mării cu marinarii lor erau la tine, ca să facă schimb de mărfuri cu tine.

Elders of Gebal and its wise men have been in thee, Strengthening thy breach; All ships of the sea and their mariners, Have been in thee, to trade thy merchandise.

10 C ei din Persia, din Lud şi din Put, slujeau în oastea ta, ca oameni de război; ei îşi spînzurau în tine scutul şi coiful, şi-ţi dădeau strălucire.

Persian and Lud and Phut Have been in thy forces -- thy men of war. Shield and helmet they hung up in thee, They -- they have given out thine honour.

11 C ei din Arvad îţi umpleau zidurile cu războinicii tăi, şi oamenii viteji erau în turnurile tale. Ei îşi atîrnau pavezele pe toate zidurile tale, şi-ţi desăvîrşeau astfel frumuseţa.

The sons of Arvad, and thy force, on thy walls round about, And short swordsmen in thy towers have been, Their shields they have hung up on thy walls round about, They -- they have perfected thy beauty.

12 C ei din Tars făceau negoţ cu tine, cu tot felul de mărfuri pe cari le aveai din belşug. Veneau la tîrgul tău cu argint, cu fer, cu cositor şi cu plumb.

Tarshish thy merchant, Because of the abundance of all wealth, For silver, iron, tin, and lead, They have given out thy remnants.

13 I avanul, Tubalul şi Meşecul făceau negoţ cu tine; dădeau robi şi unelte de aramă în schimbul mărfurilor tale.

Javan, Tubal, and Meshech -- they thy merchants, For persons of men, and vessels of brass, They have given out thy merchandise.

14 C ei din casa Togarmei aduceau la tîrgul tău cai, călăreţi şi catîri.

They of the house of Togarmah, horses, and riding steeds, and mules, They have given out thy remnants.

15 C ei din Dedan făceau negoţ cu tine; negoţul multor ostroave trecea prin mînile tale; îţi aduceau ca bir coarne de fildeş şi de abanos.

Sons of Dedan thy merchants, Many isles the mart of thy hand, Horns of ivory and ebony they sent back thy reward.

16 S iria făcea negoţ cu tine, cu marele număr de lucruri făcute de tine; ei veneau la tîrgul tău de smaragd, purpură, şi materii pestriţe cu in supţire, mărgean şi agat.

Aram thy merchant, Because of the abundance of thy works, For emerald, purple, and embroidery, And fine linen, and coral, and agate, They have given out thy remnants.

17 I uda şi ţara lui Israel făceau negoţ cu tine; îţi dădeau grîu de Minit, turte, miere, untdelemn şi leac alinător, în schimbul mărfurilor tale.

Judah and the land of Israel -- they thy merchants, For wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, And honey, and oil, and balm, They have given out thy merchandise.

18 D amascul făcea negoţ cu tine, cu marele număr de lucruri făcute de tine, cu tot felul de mărfuri, pe cari le aveai din belşug; îţi dădea vin din Helbon şi lînă albă.

Damascus thy merchant, For the abundance of thy works, Because of the abundance of all wealth, For wine of Helbon, and white wool.

19 V edanul şi Iavanul, dela Uzal, veneau la tîrgul tău; fer lucrat, casie şi trestie mirositoare, erau schimbate cu tine.

Vedan and Javan go about with thy remnants, They have given shining iron, cassia, and cane, In thy merchandise it hath been.

20 D edanul făcea negoţ cu tine cu învelitori de pus pe cal.

Dedan thy merchant, For clothes of freedom for riding.

21 A rabia şi toţi voivozii Chedarului erau negustorii tăi, şi-ţi aduceau miei, berbeci şi ţapi.

Arabia, and all princes of Kedar, They the traders of thy hand, For lambs, and rams, and he-goats, In these thy merchants.

22 N egustorii din Seba şi din Raema făceau negoţ cu tine; îţi plăteau cu cele mai bune mirezme, cu pietre scumpe şi aur, mărfurile tale.

Merchants of Sheba and Raamah -- they thy merchants, For the chief of all spices, And for every precious stone, and gold, They have given out thy remnants.

23 H aranul, Canehul şi Edenul, negustorii din Seba, din Asiria, din Chilmad, făceau negoţ cu tine;

Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, merchants of Sheba, Asshur -- Chilmad -- thy merchants,

24 f ăceau negoţ cu tine de haine scumpe, de mantale de purpură albastră şi cusături la gherghef, de covoare scumpe puse în lăzi de funii, sucite şi bine împletite, aduse la tîrgul tău.

They thy merchants for perfect things, For wrappings of blue, and embroidery, And for treasuries of rich apparel, With cords bound and girded, for thy merchandise,

25 C orăbiile din Tars îţi aduceau mărfurile pe mare; erai în culmea bogăţiei şi slavei, în inima mărilor! -

Ships of Tarshish thy double walls of thy merchandise, And thou art filled and honoured greatly, In the heart of the seas.

26 V îslaşii tăi te duceau pe ape mari: dar un vînt dela răsărit te va sfărîma în inima mărilor!

Into great waters have they brought thee, Those rowing thee, The east wind hath broken thee in the heart of the seas.

27 B ogăţiile tale, tîrgurile tale şi mărfurile tale, marinarii şi cîrmacii tăi, ceice îţi dreg crăpăturile corăbiilor, şi ceice fac schimb de mărfuri cu tine, toţi oamenii de război cari sînt în tine, şi toată mulţimea, care este în mijlocul tău, se vor prăbuşi în inima mărilor, în ziua căderii tale.

Thy wealth and thy remnants, Thy merchandise, thy mariners, And thy pilots, strengtheners of thy breach, And the traders of thy merchandise, And all thy men of war, who in thee, And in all thine assembly that in thy midst, Fall into the heart of the seas in the day of thy fall,

28 T oate valurile mării se vor cutremura de ţipetele cîrmacilor tăi!

At the voice of the cry of thy pilots shake do the suburbs.

29 Ş i toţi vîslaşii, marinarii, toţi cîrmacii de pe mare, se vor da jos din corăbii şi vor păşi pe uscat.

And come down from their ships have all handling an oar, Mariners, all the pilots of the sea, on the land they stand,

30 V or striga cu glas tare din pricina ta, şi vor scoate ţipete amarnice. Îşi vor arunca ţărînă în cap şi se vor tăvăli în cenuşă.

And have sounded for thee with their voice, And cry bitterly, and cause dust to go up on their heads, In ashes they do roll themselves.

31 Î şi vor rade capul din pricina ta, şi se vor îmbrăca în saci, te vor plînge cu sufletul amărît, şi cu mîhnire mare.

And they have made for thee baldness, And they have girded on sackcloth, And they have wept for thee, In bitterness of soul -- a bitter mourning.

32 Î n durerea lor, vor face un cîntec de jale asupra ta, te vor boci, şi vor zice:,, Cine era ca Tirul, cel nimicit în mijlocul mării?``

And lifted up for thee have their sons a lamentation, And they have lamented over thee, who as Tyre? As the cut-off one in the midst of the sea?

33 C înd ieşeau mărfurile tale pe mări, săturai un mare număr de popoare; cu belşugul avuţiilor şi mărfurilor tale, îmbogăţeai pe împăraţii pămîntului.

With the outgoing of thy remnants from the seas, Thou hast filled many peoples, With the abundance of thy riches, and thy merchandise, Thou hast made rich things of earth.

34 A cum însă eşti sfărîmat de mări, negoţul tău a pierit în adîncimea apelor, şi toată mulţimea ta de oameni s'a cufundat odată cu tine!

The time of being broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, Thy merchandise and all thy assembly in thy midst have fallen.

35 T oţi locuitorii ostroavelor stau înmărmuriţi din pricina ta, împăraţii lor stau cu părul vîlvoi de groază, şi le tremură faţa!

All inhabitants of the isles have been astonished at thee, And their kings have been sore afraid, They have been troubled in countenance.

36 N egustorii popoarelor fluieră asupra ta! Eşti nimicit de tot, şi te-ai dus pentru totdeauna!``

Merchants among the peoples have shrieked for thee, Wastes thou hast been, and thou art not -- to the age!'
