To the Overseer. -- A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O Jehovah, from an evil man, From one of violence Thou keepest me.

2 c ari cugetă lucruri rele în inima lor, şi sînt totdeauna gata să aţîţe războiul!

Who have devised evils in the heart, All the day they assemble wars.

3 E i îşi ascut limba ca un şarpe, au pe buze o otravă de năpîrcă. -

They sharpened their tongue as a serpent, Poison of an adder under their lips. Selah.

4 P ăzeşte-mă, Doamne, de mîinile celui rău! Fereşte-mă de oamenii asupritori, cari se gîndesc să mă doboare!

Preserve me, Jehovah, from the hands of the wicked, From one of violence Thou keepest me, Who have devised to overthrow my steps.

5 N işte îngîmfaţi îmi întind curse şi laţuri, pun reţele dealungul drumului, şi îmi întind capcane. -(Oprire).

The proud hid a snare for me -- and cords, They spread a net by the side of the path, Snares they have set for me. Selah.

6 E u zic Domnului:,, Tu eşti Dumnezeul meu! Ia aminte, Doamne, la glasul rugăciunilor mele!

I have said to Jehovah, `My God Thou, Hear, Jehovah, the voice of my supplications.'

7 D oamne, Dumnezeule, tăria mîntuirii mele, Tu-mi acoperi capul în ziua luptei.``

O Jehovah, my Lord, strength of my salvation, Thou hast covered my head in the day of armour.

8 N u împlini, Doamne, dorinţele celui rău, nu lăsa să -i izbutească planurile, ca să nu se fălească! -(Oprire).

Grant not, O Jehovah, the desires of the wicked, His wicked device bring not forth, They are high. Selah.

9 A supra capului celor ce mă înconjoară să cadă nelegiuirea buzelor lor!

The chief of my surrounders, The perverseness of their lips covereth them.

10 C ărbuni aprinşi să cadă peste ei! În foc să fie aruncaţi, în adîncuri, de unde să nu se mai scoale!

They cause to fall on themselves burning coals, Into fire He doth cast them, Into deep pits -- they arise not.

11 O mul cu limba mincinoasă nu se întăreşte pe pămînt, şi pe omul asupritor, nenorocirea îl paşte şi -l duce la pierzanie.

A talkative man is not established in the earth, One of violence -- evil hunteth to overflowing.

12 Ş tiu că Domnul face dreptate celui obijduit, dreptate celor lipsiţi.

I have known that Jehovah doth execute The judgment of the afflicted, The judgment of the needy.

13 D a, cei neprihăniţi vor lăuda Numele Tău, oamenii fără prihană vor locui înaintea Ta.

Only -- the righteous give thanks to Thy name, The upright do dwell with Thy presence!
