1 I ată poruncile, legile şi rînduielile pe cari a poruncit Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, să vă învăţ să le împliniţi în ţara pe care o veţi lua în stăpînire;

`And this the command, the statutes and the judgments which Jehovah your God hath commanded to teach you, to do in the land which ye are passing over thither to possess it,

2 c a să te temi de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, păzind, în toate zilele vieţii tale, tu, fiul tău, şi fiul fiului tău, toate legile şi toate poruncile Lui pe cari ţi le dau, şi să ai zile multe.

so that thou dost fear Jehovah thy God, to keep all His statutes and His commands, which I am commanding thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all days of thy life, and so that thy days are prolonged.

3 A scultă-le dar, Israele, şi caută să le împlineşti, ca să fii fericit şi să vă înmulţiţi mult, cum ţi -a spus Domnul, Dumnezeul părinţilor tăi, cînd ţi -a făgăduit ţara în care curge lapte şi miere.

`And thou hast heard, O Israel, and observed to do, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest multiply exceedingly, as Jehovah, God of thy fathers, hath spoken to thee, the land flowing with milk and honey.

4 A scultă, Israele! Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, este singurul Domn.

`Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God one Jehovah;

5 S ă iubeşti pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, cu toată inima ta, cu tot sufletul tău şi cu toată puterea ta.

and thou hast loved Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might,

6 Ş i poruncile acestea, pe cari ţi le dau astăzi, să le ai în inima ta.

and these words which I am commanding thee to-day have been on thine heart,

7 S ă le întipăreşti în mintea copiilor tăi, şi să vorbeşti de ele cînd vei fi acasă, cînd vei pleca în călătorie, cînd te vei culca şi cînd te vei scula.

and thou hast repeated them to thy sons, and spoken of them in thy sitting in thine house, and in thy walking in the way, and in thy lying down, and in thy rising up,

8 S ă le legi ca un semn de aducere aminte la mîni, şi să-ţi fie ca nişte fruntarii între ochi.

and hast bound them for a sign upon thy hand, and they have been for frontlets between thine eyes,

9 S ă le scrii pe uşiorii casei tale şi pe porţile tale.

and thou hast written them on door-posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

10 D omnul, Dumnezeul tău, te va face să intri în ţara pe care a jurat părinţilor tăi, lui Avraam, lui Isaac şi lui Iacov, că ţi -o va da. Vei stăpîni cetăţi mari şi bune pe cari nu tu le-ai zidit,

`And it hath been, when Jehovah thy God doth bring thee in unto the land which He hath sworn to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to thee -- cities great and good, which thou hast not built,

11 c ase pline de tot felul de bunuri pe cari nu tu le-ai umplut, puţuri de apă săpate pe cari nu tu le-ai săpat, vii şi măslini pe cari nu tu i-ai sădit. Cînd vei mînca şi te vei sătura,

and houses full of all good things which thou hast not filled, and wells digged which thou hast not digged, vineyards and olive-yards which thou hast not planted, and thou hast eaten, and been satisfied;

12 v ezi să nu uiţi pe Domnul, care te -a scos din ţara Egiptului, din casa robiei.

`Take heed to thyself lest thou forget Jehovah who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants;

13 S ă te temi de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, să -I slujeşti, şi pe Numele Lui să juri.

Jehovah thy God thou dost fear, and Him thou dost serve, and by His name thou dost swear;

14 S ă nu vă duceţi după alţi dumnezei, dintre dumnezeii popoarelor din jurul vostru;

ye do not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who round about you;

15 c ăci Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, este un Dumnezeu gelos în mijlocul tău. Altfel, Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, S'ar aprinde de mînie împotriva ta, şi te-ar nimici de pe faţa pămîntului.

for a zealous God Jehovah thy God in thy midst -- lest the anger of Jehovah thy God burn against thee, and He hath destroyed thee from off the face of the ground.

16 S ă nu ispitiţi pe Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, cum L-aţi ispitit la Masa.

`Ye do not try Jehovah your God as ye tried in Massah;

17 C i să păziţi poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeului vostru, poruncile Lui şi legile lui pe cari vi le -a dat.

ye do diligently keep the commands of Jehovah your God, and His testimonies, and His statutes which He hath commanded thee,

18 S ă faci ce este plăcut şi bine înaintea Domnului, ca să fii fericit, şi să intri în stăpînirea ţării aceleia bune, pe care Domnul a jurat părinţilor tăi că ţi -o va da,

and thou hast done that which is right and good in the eyes of Jehovah, so that it is well with thee, and thou hast gone in and possessed the good land which Jehovah hath sworn to thy fathers,

19 d upă ce va izgoni pe toţi vrăjmaşii tăi dinaintea ta, cum a spus Domnul.

to drive away all thine enemies from thy presence, as Jehovah hath spoken.

20 C înd fiul tău te va întreba într -o zi:,, Ce însemnează învăţăturile acestea, legile acestea şi poruncile acestea, pe cari vi le -a dat Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru?``

`When thy son asketh thee hereafter, saying, What the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you?

21 s ă răspunzi fiului tău:,, Noi eram robi ai lui Faraon în Egipt, şi Domnul ne -a scos din Egipt cu mîna Lui cea puternică.

then thou hast said to thy son, Servants we have been to Pharaoh in Egypt, and Jehovah bringeth us out of Egypt by a high hand;

22 D omnul a făcut, subt ochii noştri, minuni şi semne mari şi nenorocite împotriva Egiptului, împotriva lui Faraon şi împotriva întregei lui case;

and Jehovah giveth signs and wonders, great and sad, on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;

23 ş i ne -a scos de acolo, ca să ne aducă în ţara pe care jurase părinţilor noştri că ne -o va da.

and us He hath brought out thence, in order to bring us in, to give to us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.

24 D omnul ne -a poruncit atunci să împlinim toate aceste legi şi să ne temem de Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, ca să fim totdeauna fericiţi, şi să ne ţină în viaţă, cum face astăzi.

And Jehovah commandeth us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for good to ourselves all the days, to keep us alive, as this day;

25 V om avea parte de îndurarea Lui, dacă vom împlini cu scumpătate toate aceste porunci înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeului nostru, cum ne -a poruncit El.``

and righteousness it is for us, when we observe to do all this command before Jehovah our God, as He hath commanded us.
