1 C opiii lui Israel iarăş au făcut ce nu place Domnului, după moartea lui Ehud.

And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah when Ehud is dead,

2 Ş i Domnul i -a vîndut în mînile lui Iabin, împăratul Canaanului, care domnea la Haţor. Căpetenia oştirii lui era Sisera, şi locuia la Haroşet-Goim.

and Jehovah selleth them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who hath reigned in Hazor, and the head of his host Sisera, and he is dwelling in Harosheth of the Goyim;

3 C opiii lui Israel au strigat către Domnul, căci Iabin avea nouă sute de cară de fer, şi de douăzeci de ani apăsa cu putere pe copiii lui Israel.

and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, for he hath nine hundred chariots of iron, and he hath oppressed the sons of Israel mightily twenty years.

4 P e vremea aceea judecător în Israel era Debora, proorociţa, nevasta lui Lapidot.

And Deborah, a woman inspired, wife of Lapidoth, she is judging Israel at that time,

5 E a şedea subt finicul Deborei, între Rama şi Betel, în muntele lui Efraim; şi copiii lui Israel se suiau la ea ca să fie judecaţi.

and she is dwelling under the palm-tree of Deborah, between Ramah and Beth-El, in the hill-country of Ephraim, and the sons of Israel go up unto her for judgment.

6 E a a trimes să cheme pe Barac, fiul lui Abinoam, din Chedeş-Neftali, şi i -a zis:,, Iată porunca pe care a dat -o Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel:, Du-te, îndreaptă-te spre muntele Taborului, şi ia cu tine zece mii de oameni din copiii lui Neftali şi din copiii lui Zabulon;

And she sendeth and calleth for Barak son of Abinoam, out of Kedesh-Naphtali, and saith unto him, `Hath not Jehovah, God of Israel, commanded? go, and thou hast drawn towards mount Tabor, and hast taken with thee ten thousand men, out of the sons of Naphtali, and out of the sons of Zebulun,

7 v oi trage spre tine, la pîrîul Chison, pe Sisera, căpetenia oştirii lui Iabin, împreună cu carăle şi oştile lui, şi -l voi da în mînile tale``.

and I have drawn unto thee, unto the brook Kishon, Sisera, head of the host of Jabin, and his chariot, and his multitude, and have given him into thy hand.'

8 B arac i -a zis:,, Dacă vii tu cu mine, mă voi duce; dar dacă nu vii cu mine, nu mă voi duce``.

And Barak saith unto her, `If thou dost go with me, then I have gone; and if thou dost not go with me, I do not go;'

9 E a a răspuns:,, Voi merge cu tine; dar nu vei avea slavă în calea pe care mergi, căci Domnul va da pe Sisera în mînile unei femei``. Şi Debora s'a sculat, şi s'a dus cu Barac la Chedeş.

and she saith, `I do certainly go with thee; only, surely thy glory is not on the way which thou art going, for into the hand of a woman doth Jehovah sell Sisera;' and Deborah riseth and goeth with Barak to Kedesh.

10 B arac a chemat pe Zabulon şi Neftali la Chedeş; zece mii de oameni mergeau în urma lui, şi Debora a plecat cu el.

And Barak calleth Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and he goeth up -- at his feet ten thousand men -- and Deborah goeth up with him.

11 H eber, Chenitul, se despărţise de Cheniţi, fiii lui Hobab, socrul lui Moise, şi îşi întinsese cortul pînă la stejarul Ţaanaim, lîngă Chedeş.

And Heber the Kenite hath been separated from the Kenite, from the sons of Hobab father-in-law of Moses, and he stretcheth out his tent unto the oak in Zaanaim, which by Kedesh.

12 A u dat de ştire lui Sisera, că Barac, fiul lui Abinoam, s'a îndreptat spre muntele Taborului.

And they declare to Sisera that Barak son of Abinoam hath gone up to mount Tabor,

13 Ş i, dela Haroşet-Goim, Sisera şi -a strîns spre pîrîul Chisonului toate carăle: nouă sute de cară de fer, şi tot poporul care era cu el.

and Sisera calleth all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people who with him, from Harosheth of the Goyim, unto the brook Kishon.

14 A tunci Debora a zis lui Barac:,, Scoală-te, căci iată ziua cînd dă Domnul pe Sisera în mînile tale. Într'adevăr, Domnul, merge înaintea ta``. Şi Barac s'a repezit de pe muntele Taborului, cu zece mii de oameni după el.

And Deborah saith unto Barak, `Rise, for this the day in which Jehovah hath given Sisera into thy hand; hath not Jehovah gone out before thee?' And Barak goeth down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

15 D omnul a pus pe fugă dinaintea lui Barac, prin ascuţişul săbiei, pe Sisera, toate carăle lui şi toată tabăra. Sisera s'a dat jos din carul lui, şi a fugit pe jos.

And Jehovah destroyeth Sisera, and all the chariots, and all the camp, by the mouth of the sword, before Barak, and Sisera cometh down from off the chariot, and fleeth on his feet.

16 B arac a urmărit carăle şi oştirea pînă la Haroşet-Goim; şi toată oştirea lui Sisera a căzut subt ascuţişul săbiei, fără să fi rămas un singur om.

And Barak hath pursued after the chariots and after the camp, unto Harosheth of the Goyim, and all the camp of Sisera falleth by the mouth of the sword -- there hath not been left even one.

17 S isera a fugit pe jos în cortul Iaelei, nevasta lui Heber, Chenitul; căci între Iabin, împăratul Haţorului, şi casa lui Heber, Chenitul, era pace.

And Sisera hath fled on his feet unto the tent of Jael wife of Heber the Kenite, for peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite;

18 I ael a eşit înaintea lui Sisera, şi i -a zis:,, Intră, domnul meu, intră la mine, şi nu te teme``. El a intrat la ea în cort, şi ea l -a ascuns subt o învelitoare.

and Jael goeth out to meet Sisera, and saith unto him, `Turn aside, my lord, turn aside unto me, fear not;' and he turneth aside unto her, into the tent, and she covereth him with a coverlet.

19 E l i -a zis:,, Dă-mi te rog, puţină apă să beau, căci mi -e sete``. Ea a deschis burduful cu lapte, i -a dat să bea, şi l -a acoperit.

And he saith unto her, `Give me to drink, I pray thee, a little water, for I am thirsty;' and she openeth the bottle of milk, and giveth him to drink, and covereth him.

20 E l i -a mai zis:,, Stai la uşa cortului, şi dacă vine cineva şi te întreabă:, Este cineva aici?` să răspunzi:, Nu``.

And he saith unto her, `Stand at the opening of the tent, and it hath been, if any doth come in, and hath asked thee, and said, Is there a man here? that thou hast said, There is not.'

21 I ael, nevasta lui Heber, a luat un ţăruş de al cortului, a pus mîna pe ciocan, s'a apropiat încet de el, şi i -a bătut ţăruşul în tîmplă, aşa că a răspuns adînc în pămînt. El adormise adînc şi era rupt de oboseală; şi a murit.

And Jael wife of Heber taketh the pin of the tent, and taketh the hammer in her hand, and goeth unto him gently, and striketh the pin into his temples, and it fasteneth in the earth -- and he hath been fast asleep, and is weary -- and he dieth.

22 P e cînd Barac urmărea pe Sisera, Iael i -a ieşit înainte şi i -a zis:,, Vino, şi-ţi voi arăta pe omul pe care -l cauţi``. El a intrat la ea, şi iată că Sisera stătea întins, mort, cu ţăruşul bătut în tîmplă.

And lo, Barak is pursuing Sisera, and Jael cometh out to meet him, and saith to him, `Come, and I shew thee the man whom thou art seeking;' and he cometh in unto her, and lo, Sisera is fallen -- dead, and the pin in his temples.

23 Î n ziua aceea, Dumnezeu a smerit pe Iabin, împăratul Canaanului, înaintea copiilor lui Israel.

And God humbleth on that day Jabin king of Canaan before the sons of Israel,

24 Ş i mîna copiilor lui Israel a apăsat greu asupra lui Iabin, împăratul Canaanului, pînă ce au nimicit pe Iabin, împăratul Canaanului.

and the hand of the sons of Israel goeth, going on and becoming hard on Jabin king of Canaan, till that they have cut off Jabin king of Canaan.
