1 V ai, -zice Domnul-de copiii răzvrătiţi, cari iau hotărîri fără Mine, fac legăminte cari nu vin din Duhul Meu, şi îngrămădesc astfel păcat peste păcat!

Wo apostate sons, The affirmation of Jehovah! To do counsel, and not from Me, And to spread out a covering, and not of My spirit, So as to add sin to sin.

2 E i se pogoară în Egipt, fără să Mă întrebe, ca să fugă supt ocrotirea lui Faraon, şi să caute un adăpost supt umbra Egiptenilor!

Who are walking to go down to Egypt, And My mouth have not asked, To be strong in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt.

3 D ar, ocrotirea lui Faraon vă va da de ruşine, şi adăpostul supt umbra Egiptului vă va da de ocară.

And the strength of Pharaoh Hath been to you for shame, And the trust in the shadow of Egypt confusion,

4 C ăci voivozii lui au şi ajuns la Ţoan, şi trimeşii lui au şi atins Hanesul.

For in Zoan were his princes, And his messengers reach Hanes.

5 D ar toţi vor rămînea de ruşine, din pricina unui popor, care nu le va fi de folos, nici nu -i va ajuta, nici nu le va folosi, ci va fi spre ruşinea şi ocara lor.``

All he made ashamed of a people that profit not, Neither for help, not for profit, But for shame, and also for reproach!

6 P roorocie asupra unor dobitoace dela miazăzi: printr'un ţinut strîmtorat şi necăjit, de unde vine leoaica şi leul, năpîrca şi şarpele sburător, îşi duc ei bogăţiile în spinarea măgarilor, şi vistieriile pe cocoaşa cămilelor, către un popor care nu le va fi de folos.

The burden of the beasts of the south. Into a land of adversity and distress, Of young lion and of old lion, Whence viper and flying saraph, They carry on the shoulder of asses their wealth, And on the hump of camels their treasures, Unto a people not profitable.

7 C ăci ajutorul Egiptului nu este decît deşertăciune şi nimic; de aceea eu numesc lucrul acesta:,, zarvă fără nici o ispravă.``

Yea, Egyptians vanity, and in vain do help, Therefore I have cried concerning this: `Their strength to sit still.'

8 D u-te acum-zice Domnul-de scrie aceste lucruri înaintea lor pe o tăbliţă, şi sapă-le într'o carte, ca să rămînă pînă în ziua de apoi, ca mărturie pe vecie şi în veci de veci.

No, go in, write it on a tablet with them, And on a book engrave it, And it is for a latter day, for a witness unto the age,

9 S crie că:, Poporul acesta este un popor răzvrătit, nişte copii mincinoşi, nişte copii cari nu vor să asculte Legea Domnului,

That a rebellious people this, sons -- liars, Sons not willing to hear the law of Jehovah.

10 c ari zic văzătorilor:, Să nu vedeţi!` şi proorocilor:, Să nu proorociţi adevăruri, ci spuneţi-ne lucruri măgulitoare, proorociţi-ne lucruri închipuite!

Who have said to seers, `Ye do not see,' And to prophets, `Ye do not prophesy to us Straightforward things, Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits,

11 A bateţi-vă din drum, daţi-vă în lături de pe cărare, lăsaţi-ne în pace cu Sfîntul lui Israel!``

Turn aside from the way, decline from the path, Cause to cease from before us the Holy One of Israel.'

12 D e aceea aşa vorbeşte Sfîntul lui Israel:,, Fiindcă lepădaţi cuvîntul acesta, şi vă încredeţi în sîlnicie şi vicleşuguri, şi vă sprijiniţi pe ele,

Therefore, thus said the Holy One of Israel, Because of your kicking against this word, And ye trust in oppression, And perverseness, and rely on it,

13 d e aceea nelegiuirea aceasta va fi pentru voi ca spărtura unui zid înalt, care, spărgîndu-se, ameninţă să cadă, şi a cărui prăbuşire vine deodată, într'o clipă:

Therefore is this iniquity to you as a breach falling, Swelled out in a wall set on high, Whose destruction suddenly, at an instant cometh.

14 î l sfărîmă cum se sfărîmă un vas de pămînt, care se sfărîmă fără nicio milă, şi din ale cărui sfărîmături nu mai rămîne nici un ciob măcar, cu care să iei foc din vatră, sau să scoţi apă din fîntînă.``

And He hath broken it As the breaking of the potters' bottle, Beaten down -- He doth not spare, Nor is there found, in its beating down, A potsherd to take fire from the burning, And to draw out waters from a ditch.

15 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu, Sfîntul lui Israel:,,În linişte şi odihnă va fi mîntuirea voastră, în seninătate şi încredere va fi tăria voastră.`` Dar n'aţi voit!

For thus said the Lord Jehovah, The Holy One of Israel: `In returning and rest ye are saved, In keeping quiet and in confidence is your might, And ye have not been willing.

16 C i aţi zis:,, Nu! Ci vom fugi pe cai!`` -,, De aceea veţi şi fugi!`` -,, Vom călări pe cai iuţi!`` -,, De aceea cei ce vă vor urmări vor fi şi mai iuţi!

And ye say, No, for on a horse we flee? Therefore ye flee, And on the swift we ride! Therefore swift are your pursuers.

17 O mie vor fugi la ameninţarea unuia singur; şi cînd vă vor ameninţa cinci, toţi veţi fugi, pînă veţi rămînea ca un stîlp pe vîrful unui munte, şi ca un steag pe creştetul unui deal.``

One thousand because of the rebuke of one, Because of the rebuke of five ye flee, Till ye have been surely left as a pole On the top of the mountain, And as an ensign on the height.

18 T otuş Domnul aşteaptă să Se milostivească de voi, şi Se va scula să vă dea îndurare, căci Domnul este un Dumnezeu drept: ferice de toţi ceice nădăjduiesc în El!

And therefore doth wait Jehovah to favour you, And therefore He is exalted to pity you, For a God of judgment Jehovah, O the blessedness of all waiting for Him.

19 D a, popor al Sionului, locuitor al Ierusalimului, nu vei mai plînge! El Se va îndura de tine, cînd vei striga; cum va auzi, te va asculta.

For the people in Zion dwell in Jerusalem, Weep thou not, weeping, Pitying, He pitieth thee at the voice of thy cry, When He heareth He answereth thee.

20 D omnul vă va da pîne în necaz, şi apă în strîmtorare. Învăţătorii tăi nu se vor mai ascunde, ci ochii tăi vor vedea pe învăţătorii tăi.

And the Lord hath given to you bread of adversity, And water of oppression. And thy directors remove no more, And thine eyes have seen thy directors,

21 U rechile tale vor auzi după tine glasul care va zice:, Iată drumul, mergeţi pe el!` Cînd veţi voi să vă mai abateţi la dreapta sau la stînga.

And thine ear heareth a word behind thee, Saying, `This the way, go ye in it,' When ye turn to the right, And when ye turn to the left.

22 V eţi socoti ca spurcate argintul care vă acopere idolii şi aurul cu care sînt poleite chipurile turnate. Ca pe o necurăţie le vei arunca, şi le vei zice:, Afară cu voi de aici!`

And ye have defiled the covering of Thy graven images of silver, And the ephod of thy molten image of gold, Thou scatterest them as a sickening thing, `Go out,' thou sayest to it.

23 A tunci El va da ploaie peste sămînţa pe care o vei pune în pămînt, şi pînea, pe care o va da pămîntul, va fi gustoasă şi hrănitoare; în acelaş timp, turmele tale vor paşte în păşuni întinse.

And He hath given rain thy seed, With which thou dost sow the ground, And bread, the increase of the ground, And it hath been fat and plenteous, Enjoy do thy cattle in that day an enlarged pasture.

24 B oii şi măgarii, cari ară pămîntul, vor mînca un nutreţ sărat, vînturat cu lopata şi cu ciurul.

And the oxen and the young asses serving the ground, Fermented provender do eat, That one is winnowing with shovel and fan.

25 P e orice munte înalt şi pe orice deal înalt, vor izvorî rîuri, curgeri de apă, în ziua marelui măcel, cînd turnurile vor cădea.

And there hath been on every high mount, And on every exalted hill, Rivulets -- streams of waters, In a day of much slaughter, in the falling of towers.

26 Ş i lumina lunii va fi ca lumina soarelui, iar lumina soarelui va fi de şapte ori mai mare (ca lumina a şapte zile), cînd va lega Domnul vînătăile poporului Său, şi va tămădui rana loviturilor lui.``

And the light of the moon hath been as the light of the sun, And the light of the sun is sevenfold, As the light of seven days, In the day of Jehovah's binding up the breach of His people, When the stroke of its wound He healeth.

27 I ată, Numele Domnului vine din depărtare! Mînia Lui este aprinsă, şi un pîrjol puternic; buzele Lui sînt pline de urgie, şi limba Lui este ca un foc mistuitor;

Lo, the name of Jehovah is coming from far, Burning is His anger, and great the flame, His lips have been full of indignation, And His tongue as a devouring fire.

28 s uflarea Lui este ca un şivoi ieşit din albie, care ajunge pînă la gît ca să ciuruiască neamurile cu ciurul nimicirii, şi să pună o zăbală înşelătoare în fălcile popoarelor.

And His breath as an overflowing stream, Unto the neck it divideth, To sift nations with a sieve of vanity, And a bridle causing to err, on the jaws of the peoples.

29 V oi însă veţi cînta ca în noaptea cînd se prăznuieşte sărbătoarea, veţi fi cu inima veselă, ca cel ce merge în sunetul flautului, ca să se ducă la muntele Domnului, spre Stînca lui Israel.

Singing is to you as in a night sanctified for a festival, And joy of heart as he who is going with a pipe, To go in to the mountain of Jehovah, Unto the rock of Israel.

30 Ş i Domnul va face să răsune glasul Lui măreţ, Îşi va arăta braţul gata să lovească, în mînia Lui aprinsă, în mijlocul flacării unui foc mistuitor, în mijlocul înecului, furtunii şi pietrelor de grindină.

And caused to be heard hath Jehovah The honour of His voice, And the coming down of His arm He doth shew with the raging of anger, And the flame of a consuming fire, Scattering, and inundation, and hailstone.

31 A tunci, Asirianul va tremura de glasul Domnului, care îl va lovi cu nuiaua Sa.

For from the voice of Jehovah broken down Asshur, With a rod He smiteth.

32 L a fiecare lovitură de nuia hotărîtă, pe care i -o va da Domnul, se vor auzi timpanele şi arfele, Domnul va lupta împotriva lui cu mîna ridicată.

And every passage of the settled staff, That Jehovah causeth to rest on him, Hath been with tabrets, and with harps, And in battles of shaking he hath fought with it.

33 C ăci de multă vreme este pregătit un rug, gătit şi pentru împărat: adînc şi lat este făcut, cu foc şi lemne din belşug. Suflarea Domnului îl aprinde ca un şivoi de pucioasă.``

For, arranged from former time is Tophet, Even it for the king is prepared, He hath made deep, He hath made large, Its pile fire and much wood, The breath of Jehovah, As a stream of brim stone, is burning in it!
