3 L a protection de Pharaon sera pour vous une honte, Et l'abri sous l'ombre de l'Égypte une ignominie.

4 D éjà ses princes sont à Tsoan, Et ses envoyés ont atteint Hanès.

10 Q ui disent aux voyants: Ne voyez pas! Et aux prophètes: Ne nous prophétisez pas des vérités, Dites-nous des choses flatteuses, Prophétisez des chimères!

Who have said to seers, `Ye do not see,' And to prophets, `Ye do not prophesy to us Straightforward things, Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits,

11 D étournez-vous du chemin, Écartez-vous du sentier, Éloignez de notre présence le Saint d'Israël!

Turn aside from the way, decline from the path, Cause to cease from before us the Holy One of Israel.'

12 C 'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Saint d'Israël: Puisque vous rejetez cette parole, Que vous vous confiez dans la violence et dans les détours Et que vous les prenez pour appuis,

Therefore, thus said the Holy One of Israel, Because of your kicking against this word, And ye trust in oppression, And perverseness, and rely on it,

13 C e crime sera pour vous Comme une partie crevassée qui menace ruine Et fait saillie dans un mur élevé, Dont l'écroulement arrive tout à coup, en un instant:

Therefore is this iniquity to you as a breach falling, Swelled out in a wall set on high, Whose destruction suddenly, at an instant cometh.

14 I l se brise comme se brise un vase de terre, Que l'on casse sans ménagement, Et dont les débris ne laissent pas un morceau Pour prendre du feu au foyer, Ou pour puiser de l'eau à la citerne.

And He hath broken it As the breaking of the potters' bottle, Beaten down -- He doth not spare, Nor is there found, in its beating down, A potsherd to take fire from the burning, And to draw out waters from a ditch.

15 C ar ainsi a parlé le Seigneur, l'Éternel, le Saint d'Israël: C'est dans la tranquillité et le repos que sera votre salut, C'est dans le calme et la confiance que sera votre force. Mais vous ne l'avez pas voulu!

For thus said the Lord Jehovah, The Holy One of Israel: `In returning and rest ye are saved, In keeping quiet and in confidence is your might, And ye have not been willing.

16 V ous avez dit: Non! nous prendrons la course à cheval! -C'est pourquoi vous fuirez à la course. -Nous monterons des coursiers légers! -C'est pourquoi ceux qui vous poursuivront seront légers.

And ye say, No, for on a horse we flee? Therefore ye flee, And on the swift we ride! Therefore swift are your pursuers.

17 M ille fuiront à la menace d'un seul, Et, à la menace de cinq, vous fuirez, Jusqu'à ce que vous restiez Comme un signal au sommet de la montagne, Comme un étendard sur la colline.

One thousand because of the rebuke of one, Because of the rebuke of five ye flee, Till ye have been surely left as a pole On the top of the mountain, And as an ensign on the height.

18 C ependant l'Éternel désire vous faire grâce, Et il se lèvera pour vous faire miséricorde; Car l'Éternel est un Dieu juste: Heureux tous ceux qui espèrent en lui!

And therefore doth wait Jehovah to favour you, And therefore He is exalted to pity you, For a God of judgment Jehovah, O the blessedness of all waiting for Him.

19 O ui, peuple de Sion, habitant de Jérusalem, Tu ne pleureras plus! Il te fera grâce, quand tu crieras; Dès qu'il aura entendu, il t'exaucera.

For the people in Zion dwell in Jerusalem, Weep thou not, weeping, Pitying, He pitieth thee at the voice of thy cry, When He heareth He answereth thee.

21 T es oreilles entendront derrière toi la voix qui dira: Voici le chemin, marchez-y! Car vous iriez à droite, ou vous iriez à gauche.

And thine ear heareth a word behind thee, Saying, `This the way, go ye in it,' When ye turn to the right, And when ye turn to the left.

22 V ous tiendrez pour souillés l'argent qui recouvre vos idoles, Et l'or dont elles sont revêtues; Tu en disperseras les débris comme une impureté: Hors d'ici! leur diras-tu.

And ye have defiled the covering of Thy graven images of silver, And the ephod of thy molten image of gold, Thou scatterest them as a sickening thing, `Go out,' thou sayest to it.

23 A lors il répandra la pluie sur la semence que tu auras mise en terre, Et le pain que produira la terre sera savoureux et nourrissant; En ce même temps, tes troupeaux paîtront dans de vastes pâturages.

And He hath given rain thy seed, With which thou dost sow the ground, And bread, the increase of the ground, And it hath been fat and plenteous, Enjoy do thy cattle in that day an enlarged pasture.

24 L es boeufs et les ânes, qui labourent la terre, Mangeront un fourrage salé, Qu'on aura vanné avec la pelle et le van.

And the oxen and the young asses serving the ground, Fermented provender do eat, That one is winnowing with shovel and fan.

25 S ur toute haute montagne et sur toute colline élevée, Il y aura des ruisseaux, des courants d'eau, Au jour du grand carnage, A la chute des tours.

And there hath been on every high mount, And on every exalted hill, Rivulets -- streams of waters, In a day of much slaughter, in the falling of towers.

26 L a lumière de la lune sera comme la lumière du soleil, Et la lumière du soleil sera sept fois plus grande (Comme la lumière de sept jours), Lorsque l'Éternel bandera la blessure de son peuple, Et qu'il guérira la plaie de ses coups.

And the light of the moon hath been as the light of the sun, And the light of the sun is sevenfold, As the light of seven days, In the day of Jehovah's binding up the breach of His people, When the stroke of its wound He healeth.

27 V oici, le nom de l'Éternel vient de loin; Sa colère est ardente, c'est un violent incendie; Ses lèvres sont pleines de fureur, Et sa langue est comme un feu dévorant;

Lo, the name of Jehovah is coming from far, Burning is His anger, and great the flame, His lips have been full of indignation, And His tongue as a devouring fire.

28 S on souffle est comme un torrent débordé qui atteint jusqu'au cou, Pour cribler les nations avec le crible de la destruction, Et comme un mors trompeur Entre les mâchoires des peuples.

And His breath as an overflowing stream, Unto the neck it divideth, To sift nations with a sieve of vanity, And a bridle causing to err, on the jaws of the peoples.

29 V ous chanterez comme la nuit où l'on célèbre la fête, Vous aurez le coeur joyeux comme celui qui marche au son de la flûte, Pour aller à la montagne de l'Éternel, vers le rocher d'Israël.

Singing is to you as in a night sanctified for a festival, And joy of heart as he who is going with a pipe, To go in to the mountain of Jehovah, Unto the rock of Israel.

30 E t l'Éternel fera retentir sa voix majestueuse, Il montrera son bras prêt à frapper, Dans l'ardeur de sa colère, Au milieu de la flamme d'un feu dévorant, De l'inondation, de la tempête et des pierres de grêle.

And caused to be heard hath Jehovah The honour of His voice, And the coming down of His arm He doth shew with the raging of anger, And the flame of a consuming fire, Scattering, and inundation, and hailstone.

31 A la voix de l'Éternel, l'Assyrien tremblera; L'Éternel le frappera de sa verge.

For from the voice of Jehovah broken down Asshur, With a rod He smiteth.

32 A chaque coup de la verge qui lui est destinée, Et que l'Éternel fera tomber sur lui, On entendra les tambourins et les harpes; L'Éternel combattra contre lui à main levée.

And every passage of the settled staff, That Jehovah causeth to rest on him, Hath been with tabrets, and with harps, And in battles of shaking he hath fought with it.

33 D epuis longtemps un bûcher est préparé, Il est préparé pour le roi, Il est profond, il est vaste; Son bûcher, c'est du feu et du bois en abondance; Le souffle de l'Éternel l'enflamme, comme un torrent de soufre.

For, arranged from former time is Tophet, Even it for the king is prepared, He hath made deep, He hath made large, Its pile fire and much wood, The breath of Jehovah, As a stream of brim stone, is burning in it!
