1 E n ce temps-là, l'Éternel me dit: Taille deux tables de pierre comme les premières, et monte vers moi sur la montagne; tu feras aussi une arche de bois.

`At that time hath Jehovah said unto me, Grave for thee two tables of stone, like the first, and come up unto Me, into the mount, and thou hast made for thee an ark of wood,

2 J 'écrirai sur ces tables les paroles qui étaient sur les premières tables que tu as brisées, et tu les mettras dans l'arche.

and I write on the tables the words which were on the first tables, which thou hast broken, and thou hast placed them in the ark;

3 J e fis une arche de bois d'acacia, je taillai deux tables de pierre comme les premières, et je montai sur la montagne, les deux tables dans ma main.

and I make an ark of shittim wood, and grave two tables of stone like the first, and go up to the mount, and the two tables in my hand.

4 L 'Éternel écrivit sur les tables ce qui avait été écrit sur les premières, les dix paroles qu'il vous avait dites sur la montagne, du milieu du feu, le jour de l'assemblée; et l'Éternel me les donna.

`And He writeth on the tables, according to the first writing, the Ten Matters, which Jehovah hath spoken unto you in the mount, out of the midst of the fire, in the day of the assembly, and Jehovah giveth them unto me,

5 J e retournai et je descendis de la montagne, je mis les tables dans l'arche que j'avais faite, et elles restèrent là, comme l'Éternel me l'avait ordonné.

and I turn and come down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made, and they are there, as Jehovah commanded me.

6 L es enfants d'Israël partirent de Beéroth Bené Jaakan pour Moséra. C'est là que mourut Aaron, et qu'il fut enterré; Éléazar, son fils, lui succéda dans le sacerdoce.

`And the sons of Israel have journeyed from Beeroth of the sons of Jaakan to Mosera, there Aaron died, and he is buried there, and Eleazar his son doth act as priest in his stead;

7 I ls partirent de là pour Gudgoda, et de Gudgoda pour Jothbatha, pays où il y a des cours d'eau.

thence they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of brooks of water.

8 E n ce temps-là, l'Éternel sépara la tribu de Lévi, et lui ordonna de porter l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel, de se tenir devant l'Éternel pour le servir, et de bénir le peuple en son nom: ce qu'elle a fait jusqu'à ce jour.

`At that time hath Jehovah separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, to stand before Jehovah, to serve Him, and to bless in His name, unto this day,

9 C 'est pourquoi Lévi n'a ni part ni héritage avec ses frères: l'Éternel est son héritage, comme l'Éternel, ton Dieu, le lui a dit.

therefore there hath not been to Levi a portion and inheritance with his brethren; Jehovah Himself his inheritance, as Jehovah thy God hath spoken to him.

10 J e restai sur la montagne, comme précédemment, quarante jours et quarante nuits. L'Éternel m'exauça encore cette fois; l'Éternel ne voulut pas te détruire.

`And I -- I have stood in the mount, as the former days, forty days and forty nights, and Jehovah hearkeneth unto me also at that time; Jehovah hath not willed to destroy thee.

11 L 'Éternel me dit: Lève-toi, va, marche à la tête du peuple. Qu'ils aillent prendre possession du pays que j'ai juré à leurs pères de leur donner.

`And Jehovah saith unto me, Rise, go to journey before the people, and they go in and possess the land which I have sworn to their fathers to give to them.

12 M aintenant, Israël, que demande de toi l'Éternel, ton Dieu, si ce n'est que tu craignes l'Éternel, ton Dieu, afin de marcher dans toutes ses voies, d'aimer et de servir l'Éternel, ton Dieu, de tout ton coeur et de toute ton âme;

`And now, Israel, what is Jehovah thy God asking from thee, except to fear Jehovah thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,

13 s i ce n'est que tu observes les commandements de l'Éternel et ses lois que je te prescris aujourd'hui, afin que tu sois heureux?

to keep the commands of Jehovah, and His statutes which I am commanding thee to-day, for good to thee?

14 V oici, à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, appartiennent les cieux et les cieux des cieux, la terre et tout ce qu'elle renferme.

`Lo, to Jehovah thy God the heavens and the heavens of the heavens, the earth and all that in it;

15 E t c'est à tes pères seulement que l'Éternel s'est attaché pour les aimer; et, après eux, c'est leur postérité, c'est vous qu'il a choisis d'entre tous les peuples, comme vous le voyez aujourd'hui.

only in thy fathers hath Jehovah delighted -- to love them, and He doth fix on their seed after them -- on you, out of all the peoples as this day;

16 V ous circoncirez donc votre coeur, et vous ne roidirez plus votre cou.

and ye have circumcised the foreskin of your heart, and your neck ye do not harden any more;

17 C ar l'Éternel, votre Dieu, est le Dieu des dieux, le Seigneur des seigneurs, le Dieu grand, fort et terrible, qui ne fait point acception des personnes et qui ne reçoit point de présent,

for Jehovah your God -- He God of the gods, and Lord of the lords; God, the great, the mighty, and the fearful; who accepteth not persons, nor taketh a bribe;

18 q ui fait droit à l'orphelin et à la veuve, qui aime l'étranger et lui donne de la nourriture et des vêtements.

He is doing the judgment of fatherless and widow, and loving the sojourner, to give to him bread and raiment.

19 V ous aimerez l'étranger, car vous avez été étrangers dans le pays d'Égypte.

`And ye have loved the sojourner, for sojourners ye were in the land of Egypt.

20 T u craindras l'Éternel, ton Dieu, tu le serviras, tu t'attacheras à lui, et tu jureras par son nom.

`Jehovah thy God thou dost fear, Him thou dost serve, and to Him thou dost cleave, and by His name thou dost swear.

21 I l est ta gloire, il est ton Dieu: c'est lui qui a fait au milieu de toi ces choses grandes et terribles que tes yeux ont vues.

He thy praise, and He thy God, who hath done with thee these great and fearful which thine eyes have seen:

22 T es pères descendirent en Égypte au nombre de soixante-dix personnes; et maintenant l'Éternel, ton Dieu, a fait de toi une multitude pareille aux étoiles des cieux.

with seventy persons did thy fathers go down to Egypt, and now hath Jehovah thy God made thee as stars of the heavens for multitude.
