Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timotheus the brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow-worker,

2 c ătre sora Apfia şi către Arhip, tovarăşul nostru de luptă, şi către Biserica din casa ta:

and Apphia the beloved, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and the assembly in thy house:

3 H ar şi pace dela Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, şi dela Domnul Isus Hristos!

Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

4 M ulţămesc totdeauna Dumnezeului meu, oride cîte ori îmi aduc aminte de tine în rugăciunile mele,

I give thanks to my God, always making mention of thee in my prayers,

5 p entrucă am auzit despre credinţa pe care o ai în Domnul Isus şi dragostea faţă de toţi sfinţii.

hearing of thy love and faith that thou hast unto the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,

6 Î l rog ca această părtăşie a ta la credinţă să se arate prin fapte, cari să dea la iveală tot binele ce se face între noi în Hristos.

that the fellowship of thy faith may become working in the full knowledge of every good thing that in you toward Christ Jesus;

7 Î n adevăr, am avut o mare bucurie şi mîngîiere, pentru dragostea ta, fiindcă, frate, inimile sfinţilor au fost înviorate prin tine.

for we have much joy and comfort in thy love, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.

8 D e aceea, măcar că am toată slobozenia în Hristos să-ţi poruncesc ce trebuie să faci,

Wherefore, having in Christ much boldness to command thee that which is fit --

9 v reau mai de grabă să-ţi fac o rugăminte în numele dragostei, eu, aşa cum sînt, bătrînul Pavel; iar acum întemniţat pentru Hristos Isus.

because of the love I rather entreat, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ;

10 T e rog pentru copilul meu, pe care l-am născut în lanţurile mele: pentru Onisim,

I entreat thee concerning my child -- whom I did beget in my bonds -- Onesimus,

11 c are altă dată ţi -a fost nefolositor, dar care acum îţi va fi folositor şi ţie şi mie.

who once was to thee unprofitable, and now is profitable to me and to thee,

12 Ţ i -l trimet înapoi, pe el, inima mea.

whom I did send again, and thou him (that is, my own bowels) receive,

13 A ş fi dorit să -l ţin la mine, ca să-mi slujească în locul tău cît sînt în lanţuri pentru Evanghelie.

whom I did wish to retain to myself, that in thy behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the good news,

14 D ar n'am vrut să fac nimic fără învoirea ta, pentruca binele, pe care mi -l faci, să nu fie silit, ci de bună voie.

and apart from thy mind I willed to do nothing, that as of necessity thy good deed may not be, but of willingness,

15 P oate că el a fost despărţit de tine, pentru o vreme, tocmai ca să -l ai pentru vecinicie,

for perhaps because of this he did depart for an hour, that age-duringly thou mayest have him,

16 d ar nu ca pe un rob, ci mult mai pe sus de cît pe un rob: ca pe un frate prea iubit, mai ales de mine, şi cu atît mai mult de tine, fie în chip firesc, fie în Domnul!

no more as a servant, but above a servant -- a brother beloved, especially to me, and how much more to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord!

17 D acă mă socoteşti dar ca prieten al tău, primeşte -l ca pe mine însumi.

If, then, with me thou hast fellowship, receive him as me,

18 Ş i dacă ţi -a adus vreo vătămare sau îţi este dator cu ceva, pune aceasta în socoteala mea.

and if he did hurt to thee, or doth owe anything, this to me be reckoning;

19 E u, Pavel,,, voi plăti`` -scriu cu mîna mea-ca să nu-ţi zic că tu însuţi te datorezi mie.

I, Paul did write with my hand, I -- I will repay; that I may not say that also thyself, besides, to me thou dost owe.

20 D a, frate, fă-mi binele acesta în Domnul, şi înviorează-mi inima în Hristos!

Yes, brother, may I have profit of thee in the Lord; refresh my bowels in the Lord;

21 Ţ i-am scris bizuit pe ascultarea ta, şi ştiu că vei face chiar mai mult de cît îţi zic.

having been confident in thy obedience I did write to thee, having known that also above what I may say thou wilt do;

22 T ot odată, pregăteşte-mi un loc de găzduire, căci trag nădejde să vă fiu dăruit, datorită rugăciunilor voastre.

and at the same time also prepare for me a lodging, for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted to you.

23 E pafra, tovarăşul meu de temniţă în Hristos Isus, îţi trimete sănătate;

Salute thee doth Epaphras, (my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus,)

24 t ot aşa şi Marcu, Aristarh, Dima, Luca, tovarăşii mei de lucru.
